Controversy is seemingly never far away when it comes to Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, and during the recent Spurs game, he was booked for a dangerous kick on Scott Parker. After the game, Man United thug Wayne Rooted tweeted that Suarez should've been sent off, and I'm sure there are people out there that share that view. Liverpool legend Steve Nicol is not one of them, and he believes Rooney may be in trouble with Sir Alex Ferguson stirring the pot ahead of Man United's crunch match with Liverpool this Saturday.
The image below shows the following:
* Suarez initially pushing Parker out of the way
* Suarez with his eyes firmly fixed on the ball
* As the ball drops, Suarez looks straight at Parker
* Suarez kicks Parker in the stomach.
I don't think intention can be inferred either way, but given the fact Suarez had just returned from a 9 match ban, he would have to be incredibly stupid do something like that deliberately.
Speaking on ESPN, Steve Nicol insisted that the referee got the decision 100% right:
"The referee had a great game, and in that particular situation, he was absolutely spot on. Suarez has just come on; he's hyped, and hasn't played in a month, and he's desperate to do well for himself and Liverpool.
"All he sees is the ball and doesn't see Parker; he naively swings at it and catches Parker, but I think it's a sensible decision from a referee who got decisions right all night".
I agree that referee got the decision right but I think it's Nicol who's being slightly naive here by suggesting that Suarez didn't see Parker; he quite clearly looks at him when the ball drops.
Nicol further argued that the incident shouldn't be such a big deal:
"He [Suarez] has made some mistakes, but if Wayne Rooney doesn't tweet this, then it's not really a huge issue".
I doubt Rooney was actively thinking about deliberately stirring things up ahead of Saturday's game; he's a football fan like everyone else, and he's entitled to his opinion; however, Nicol believes that Rooney might get it in the neck from his manager:
"If you're Alex Ferguson, you don't want any of your players saying something that's going to wind Liverpool or Suarez up. Suarez has a big enough point to prove to United without one of his own players making Suarez try even harder.
"I'm sure Fergie's not going to be happy about it, and if there's any winding-up to be done, Ferguson's more than capable of doing it himself".
I sincerely doubt that Ferguson even gave it a second thought. Hopefully, Nicol is right, and Suarez will be extra motivated against United on Saturday.

if you have control over your legs (a pro football has exceptional coordination) then how can any intelligent person think this is unintentional. This report states that Suarez looks at the ball and pushes Parker...so he knows exactly where parker is and the ball. Then he looks at Parker and kicks him!!! in the stomach. The ball is headed before the kick...Suarez is ridiculous. The cheek he had to handball then claim handball against a spurs defender too. Sportsmanship...fair play. Liverpool had very little that night.
ReplyDeletenice dive by Bale though hey Tav, very sportsmanship like
ReplyDeleteWhat a load of rubbish you can see from the angle of his head that he has NOT got his eye on the ball at all! Typical Liverpool fans in denial!
ReplyDeletehang on... if u agreed that he sees scott parker and kicked him anyways, that intentional, therefore surely a red & not a yellow. The only reason i can think of y the ref gave him a yellow is becoz he is giving suarez a break after being out for 9 games.
ReplyDeleteLiverpool are gonna have buckets of fun with this guy,,ajax could`nt wait to get rid of him.HE`S a nasty, spineless toe rag.But he seems to be at the right club with whats around him.
ReplyDeletebale dove to get out of the way... if he carries on he gets cleated in the thigh...
ReplyDeletewhat are people on about, if it was any other player this wouldn't have been talked about after the game finished. Suarez isn't stupid enough to come back after 9 games and after 5 minutes kick someone in the chest on purpose. It was an accident and anyone who plays football has kicked someone hard by mistake when going for a high ball, I know I have. Why don't people report on proper news and about the team doing well and not Suarez's mistake. Leave him alone for just 1 minute!
ReplyDeleteHe laern't it watching Stevie G!
ReplyDeleteLearnt even!
ReplyDeleteGet a grip. Is this kanwar for real. Typical press negativity and witch hunt STILL!. What about Bale? Diving all over the place. Tottenham are getting dizzy right now, lol. They are too high up the league. When redknapp leaves for the England job, its back to mid table where they belong.

ReplyDeleteHope this helps
What are you doing here typing messages about Liverpool you sad bastard. Go and find your own forum for your own team whatever it is. The site name should give away the fact that this is for liverpool fans. LOOSER
ReplyDeleteSteve nicol should wise up i never hear come out with any intelligent to say
ReplyDeleteSuarez isn't stupid then you must be this guy bit another player in the dutch league, stopped a ball crossing the line in the world cup with his hand called an opposing player by a racist remark. I bet he doesn't call any of the liverpools Black players by the same remark. He is a buck toothed moron with few brain cells to rub together, that's why he fits in with your team.
ReplyDeleteAre you sure Ajax couldn't wait to get rid? First they held out for as much money as possible and after selling they had him back to give him a proper send off!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=EzAQd2NGxmg
LFC top 4 and fa cup and carling...next year we are winning it all ..KD here..i think suarez accident with parker was unintentional..oh btw bale dive and fight wth agger was that just yellow?do i even have to talk about john Terry ,balotelli and worst fucking Rooney?they are even worst in drama!!SO u guys can shut da hell up ...YNWA ..we beating united saturday hahahahaha watch suarez and bellamy .....
ReplyDeleteRooney sleeps with whores along with cristiano ronaldo and chicarito..poor united players, haha giggs also ...what a shame..they cheated on jesus their wife and families..what a shame...Only issue at LFC looks like suarez is too good and also since KD came every1 can feel that pressure in their butt!
ReplyDeleteRooneys wife is ugly as he thinks whores are prettier than his wife..I would rather be a racist than cheating on my family and intentinally get red cards in game...Balotelli mafia does whatever he wants same as effin tevez...Man u guys should not chill out cuz yall can feel that LFC is back on track like 70's 80's....Fergie should retire
ReplyDeleteLudicrous the man has served his ban now get off his back and find another foreigner to pick on you Xenophobic racists
ReplyDeleteTo be honest who cares, how can Nicol admit anything, he wasn't there lol.
ReplyDeleteSuarez is following the flight of the ball thats why it appears he looks at parker before accidentally kicking him.
ReplyDeleteThe big questions here is did Wayne rooney teach himself to spell red or did he have help? And was that cat actually some of his new hair running around anfield?
Swar rez is a Dope - first he shoves Parker out of the way and then swings his foot far too high and if he had have got the ball, he would have taken Parker's head off. Don't worry, for the return game at White Hot Lane next season, he will get his just desserts - if he is still a Liver Spots player that is............................
ReplyDeleteRafa for England manager Euro '12. :)
ReplyDeleteSuarez clearly starts his kick before looking at Parker. People talking about footballers coordination with the leg is ludicrous, to stop midway through a full blown swing is something that needs to be practiced intentionally and even as a martial arts practitioner it's a very difficult thing to do. I do believe Suarez had an idea that Parker could possibly intercept the ball but I reckon he's taken a chance on the possibility that the ball would go his way.
ReplyDeleteHe kicks the ball before looking at Parker again. Coordination over you
ReplyDeletelegs is one thing but reflexes is another. The only correct aspect of
the report is that he does know where Parker is at the point but he has
taken a chance, a chance that the ball would be missed by Parker as
defenders typically jump up early missing the ball but putting off the
striker. Parker collects Stevie G in a late tackle is punished accordingly, Suarez accidentally kicks Parker got a yellow card as well. Good decisions, so where is the problem? The game goes on.
LOL if it was so blatant why didn't he goes around kicking £hit out of all of them! What a load of rubbish the incident passed almost unnoticed at the ground, what is the big deal?
ReplyDeleteYou'll still be looking for a new manager by then fella :)
ReplyDeleteLooking at it again the kick didn't even look too hard, maybe Parker was hoping Suarez got a red..
ReplyDeleteIntentional, to me. I won't say no more on that, as said enough on another article on here about it.
ReplyDeleteJust glad it was a yellow card only and people can just get on with things now, rather yet another incident involving Suarez where we could have possibly wait for FA for a ban again if the referee didn't pick it up.
I'm not having all this 'they are out to get us, especially anything involving Suarez' nonsense as a legit excuse for everytime Suarez gets involved something. Luis, just play your football and stay out of the news for the wrong reasons if you can help it. I know it will be hard but please, enough is enough.
What reason would he have to kick Parker? He was just on the pitch first time in weeks. If he had been playing all match and looked angry before the kick I would've agreed with you, but he had no reason other than trying to score a goal..
ReplyDeleteLOL You Win!! You Win The Stupidest Comment Award.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Enjoy!
haha, liverpool where all over spurs, could have been 3-0 easily.
ReplyDeletespurs are just a flash in the pan. be preppared to lose your manager, then moderic, bale, vdv, lennon in the summer.
back to normalitiy in the near future lol
parker gives enough out, fairly and unfairly, it was a rash accident, parker took it like a man, who cares. rooney almost concusses someone at least, shame the sad little pr#ck didnt tweet on that one eh
ReplyDeleteFor what possible purpose would he want to intentionally kick him and risk a likely red card?? That argument makes no sense.
ReplyDeletetypical yid, sing when your winning.most fickle fans in the country.
ReplyDeleteleast liverpool pay there taxes and not rip off the honest working people of this country
and they lose there decent players lol
ReplyDeleteI've been playing footy for over 30 yrs, not a pro level and if I knew I wasn't gonna get to the ball, I wud have been able to stop myself kicking Parker if I was in that position and I haven't got the faster reactions!!
ReplyDeleteKenny would defend Suarez even if he rabped a horse!
bale wont be there next season lol parkers legs gone by then haha,
ReplyDeleteand your best players gone.punching above your weight. cant wait for white fart lane, things will be back to normal. hey shame the game aint played in slo mo...............init!!
Lowey - I've edited your post and you know why. Please do not use such insulting language towards other posters again. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteTime to stop these trolls, Jaime?
ReplyDeleteI must say that that I've seen Suarez make some magic happen on the pitch but he's a loose cannon, kinda like Tevez. He can make brilliant passes and goals and then do some ugly stuff that just makes you hide your face in your hands. But he has a lot to prove before I give him the love and respect a lot LFC-fans give him. I´d like him to score a whole lot more (he misses quite a few) and then get a grip on the ugly side of his footballing. I still feel a lite heartbroken when I see Torres in that ugly blue shirt and I dream about him returning but that will never happen - he didn't do these ugly things and he scored, oh my, did he score. But then he sold out to the Blues and got what he deserved.
And what about Maxi? I wonder what he's done to piss Kenny off because he's not even on the bench. And he's ten time the player overrated Downing is!
Thank God I have my FIFA 12 where I can play the team as it should be:
Reina
Johnson - Skrtel - Agger - Enrique/Kelly
Kuyt- Spearing/Lucas - Adam (but I do miss Meireles) - Gerrard - Maxi
Bellamy - Suarez
Makes no sense...like biting a player???
ReplyDeleteFunny how when Balotelli kicks Parker, no one on here was saying 'why would he do it?', like a lost child who is totally confused. But when Suarez does it everyone is saying. If we are going to assume that he wasn't trying to kick Ledley King, then it seems obvious to me that the push was to get Parker out of the way and he did not expect him to still be there when the ball dropped. But having missed a few games, he clearly is not pushing as hard as usual.
ReplyDeletesorry, didnt mean to offend
ReplyDeleteRooney's tweets are inconsequential and petty, and quite hypocritical
ReplyDeleteSuarez nudges Parker out of the way and expects to get a clean strike. Yellow card was harsh, although he readily accepted it
It's embarrassing to see Graham Poll sell his wares every week to the press, I guess we all have to make a living
Some neck on him lambasting referees given his record in 2006 World Cup - Pathetic
He's just selling his worthless wares
ReplyDeleteSome people uber interested in every word he says, not me though
Johnny Giles - the only true pundit
Did you hear the guys on BBC and Sky pardon Adam Johnson and Wellbeck? There was contact blah de blah de blah. Just cheating, why can't they just say it???
Too close to the players / managers etc, that's why
Why not just say it as it is? Players will do anything to win a game. They are professionals, wins = €€€€€
Many things that Suarez does on a pitch doesn't make sense
ReplyDeleteIt would be better for all if nobody replies to what Nicol says, he's a 'plonker'.
ReplyDeleteWhat if they don't, eh ?? Its criminal that idiots like you make such statement on the web and there are simply no repercussions.
ReplyDeleteBale diving 'all over the place' means Suarez can 'kick whoever he wants' ??
Are you for real ??
From Suarez comments to evra me thinks he is xenophobic
ReplyDeleteAnyone heard about this interview that Suarez was meant to have given to Uruguayan radio? This is part of an article that has appeared on a few websites, including Football 365.
ReplyDeleteBut in an interview with Uruguay's Radio Sport 890, Suarez said: "I knew what I did and there is a kind of football law that says, 'What happens on the pitch, stays on the pitch and that's the end of the story.'"
Does that change the impression of what went on with Evra and the subsequent booing? Or will people move the goalposts yet again and say that Evra has a history of making these things up/he's a nasty man anyway/Man Utd sing nasty songs about us, etc, etc. And to think Kenny had just said that he thought the guy should never have been away. Does 'I know what I did' suggest the guy was engaging in friendly banter?
