Midfielder warns: Argentina Star must not be allowed to join Liverpool

Liverpool have been persistently linked with a move for Argentine defender Fabricio Coloccini all season, and although talk has cooled lately due to imperious form of Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel, the club will eventually need a replacement for Jamie Carragher, and Coloccini seems to fit the bill. Newcastle teammate Jonas Gutierrez is aware of the interest from other clubs, but he still retains hope that the Argentinean will stay at St. James' Park.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew confirmed Liverpool's Coloccini interest in October 2011, when he told The Mirror:

"Liverpool like looking at our players, don't they? He [Coloccini] has been outstanding for us as a captain and a player and we're in negotiations with him on a new contract".

Speaking to the Newcastle Sunday Sun over the weekend, Gutierrez made his public plea to Coloccini:

"I am so glad that he is here with our club and yes, I would like him to stay and I said that to him.

"I have known Fabricio for a number of years, I know exactly what kind of player he is. I know the qualities that he has. He always tries to play the quality pass and he's a really, really good defender too."

Newcastle have conceded twelve goals in the last five games, which doesn't seem to suggest a solid defensive unit at the moment.

Would Coloccini be a good buy for Liverpool?

  1. He wouldn't get a game. He's in his 30s. Coates and Wisdom coming through Does he like splinters on his Harris?

  2. Why would Colo want to join the shameful mess that is LFC? To line his pockets at the expense of success like Carrol and Enrique maybe? Colo is a more dignified player, a class above a scumbag club like Liverpool. £113m spent and three points worse off than Newcastle, whose net spend is -£43m over the same time period, Dalglish is an expensive joke.

  3. We've got Coates, Wisdom, Wilson, and remember Kelly is a natural CB as well.

  6. Yes Hamann and Enrique were and have been so shit for us, what a douche!! FACT Hamann won more with LFC then NUFC's history and Enrique n Carroll are about to play in a final how many did finals did NUFC get to when they were there? you can add Bellamy to that list aswell.

  7. Liverppol fans should look a for the video that saysthis, Keane and Viera fight in the tunnel,WE have video proof of both Keane and Scholes refusing to shake Patrick Vieira’s hand before the match, I guess he say a different tune that day? or did he believe those two should never have played for Manchester United again? So Sir Alex, worry about your own club and their actions before you worry about our’s.YNWA Luis Suarez.Tthe video can bee found on the AnfieldRedlink.

lol  Zahid, are you so insecure about ManUre taking over your mantle as the most successful english team that you have to spout on about your trophies in relation to an article about possible transfers?

  16. If I played in Liverpools reserves I would be gutted at the speculation surrounding posible signings. From a defensive point of view we look strong both now and in the future. Enrique, Skirtel, Agger and Johnson have been as good as it gets. Supplement those players with Kelly, Flanagan, Robinson, Coates, Wilson and then have a look at the Younger players like Wisdom etc we are strong in this area no need to waste our money. Just a quickpoint regarding the defensive coaching. There has been such an improvement this season in the way we defend which must be the reult of coaching. Well done Steve Clarke

  18. Don't think we need to sign any more players , as daft as it sounds . Kenny seems obsessed with giving everyone " a turn " in the team , except the back four and the goalie that is they don't get tired . So more players more changes it's costing us big time , football teams win games , great to have a big/good squad , but the best players should be in the team , then if they get injured banned or there form drops replace them . Don't have better players sat watching the games than the ones on the pitch , that's just stupid , they don't need to be rested , if they did you wouldn't mind but we just change so all the players get a game . " someone will feel hurt " . 40 odd thousand people have felt more than hurt as they've left Anfield almost every game this season , not just the 8 times we've drawn , 8 draws at home for god's sake if that doesn't tell you what your doing is wrong nothing will .

  19. Doubt he'd want to take the step down. Or associate himself with a dirty seedy club living in the past.

  20. You cant criticise Liverpool for spending lots on players, they do save loads in scouting, they just buy Newcastle season review DVD for £11.99

  21. LFC is everything your a joke and so is your club what club would back a player after what he done by wearing t shirts with him on. daglish is a dinosaur that overpays for players thanks for the 35m for a player worth no more than 5m nice to see that his game has improved (not) your a joke

    ReplyDelete
  22. Why would he join Liverpool ?? perhaps he would like to tell his grandchildren he once played for one of the biggest clubs in world football instead of NUFC

  23. Living in the past ?/ every night is 70's night on Tyneside

  24. All those players you've mentioned , the future if you like , but you watch Aurelio will get a game this weekend . Why ? For the sake of giving him a game , he's finished , shame and all that but it does not benefit LFC one jot no room for sentiment , but I think that's how teams are picked " well he hasn't played for the last 3 games so he can replace him " " he can sit this one out cos he's been our best player in the last 3 games " sounds stupid , it is stupid but that's what seems to be going on . We have a big squad use it . Rotate not for the good of the side , but so no one feels hurt . I've said it before if it wasn't so serious it would be funny . Do you think Shanks would have left Ian St John out to give Bobby Graham a game or Ronnie Yeats out to give Ian Ross a game , I know everyone spouts how it's a different game now or how the games changed , if it has or it hasn't some players are better than others and should play when available not sit and watch , on the subs bench at that , so they are available to play

  31. Baldy Baldy Baldy. U idiot of an individual. Something happens about Liverpool and all u experts have to put be critical. Y didnt anyone pick Ferdinand not shaking Suares's hand. Y is that any diffrerent to what Luiz did to Evra. Every club will back his player otherwise they dont belong that. What ever happened to Cantana kicking a spectator and that rednose raindeer backed him for his entire player career. Give us a break.
