After the recent Patrice Evra debacle, it was always inevitable that Luis Suarez would be the subject of transfer speculation linking him with a move away from Liverpool in the summer. Several clubs, including Juventus and Paris St. Germain have been mentioned as possible destinations so far, and today, the Uruguayan's Agent officially responded to the current speculation surrounding his client.
When asked about the rumours surrounding Suarez's Liverpool future, Suarez's Agent Pere Guardiola - brother of Barcelona Manager Pep Guardiola - told the Daily Star:
"Luis has a contract with Liverpool, so any information will be passed to them. He just wants to focus on his football".
That's hardly an emphatic validation of Suarez's future at Liverpool. It would've been much more reassuring if Guardiola had something along the lines of: "Suarez is fully committed to Liverpool and has no intention of leaving in the summer", but he just states the facts: Suarez had a contract, and any information about transfer bids will be passed to the club.
At this stage, I think it is a distinct possibility that Suarez will leave in the summer, and if Liverpool fail to qualify for the Champions League, his departure will probably become inevitable.
Having said that, Suarez can't keep leaving every time he encounters problems. The biting incident at Ajax was the death-knell for his career in Holland, and he moved soon after; the Evra situation could have the same impact in England; but what happens when he makes waves somewhere else?
With two goals in two games since his return from the Evra ban, Suarez is in good form going into Sunday's Carling Cup final, and hopefully, he'll get on the scoresheet again and help Liverpool to win their first trophy in six years.

No one player is bigger than any football club. If he wants to go let him go. Quite frankly, I am fed with all this transfer speculation and the act of other clubs to disrupt other club's players in the middle of the season.
ReplyDeletesuarez is stayin at liverpool for yhear 2 cum
ReplyDeleteBarca or Real wouldnt touch him with a barge pole with all his baggage. Great player but horrible man.
ReplyDeleteSame old JK article, looking for stuff that isn't there. Notch up the hits for the advertisers on the site...
ReplyDelete'Suarez can't keep leaving every time he encounters problems'??
ReplyDeleteWhen has Luis ever said that he will leave?
You obviously know a lot more than everybody else?
I very often read your posts and go away laughing to myself about some of the rubbish you write. So congratulations you have at long last made me bite. But I guess that is the reason you make such stupid comments about our great club - to provoke a response and make yourself feel important.
Well done!
ARE YOU THE SAME GUY WHO SAID JOHN TERRY WOULD,NT BE CHARGED ????
ReplyDeleteWhat the agent HAS said is that Luis wont even be bothered with any talk. IE he is not going anywhere. ANY approaches for ANY player will be run through the club Board.....Non story here.
ReplyDeleteas per
ReplyDeleteI don't see why he and his agent can't say whatever they like. Its not in his contract that his agent must be emphatic about anything other than Luis's best interests. The only certainty is that there is nothing certain one way or the other. As such, I'm not interested in what agents say at least 75% of the time. More often than not they are just trying to deflect awkward questions.
ReplyDeleteLOL, The Daily Star. What a reliable publication.

Reading between the lines doesn't always equate with insight
ReplyDeleteHe has a contract, etc
Suarez wasn't chased out of Holland because of the biting incident, Ajax took a healthy fee for him, and he got a hero's send off
We could well sell him in the summer of course, but it would need to be a whopper of a bid, £40 million +
Unless Barca got involved (totally unlikely), they grind you down, get in the player's head etc
Football agent in ambiguous statement shocker.
ReplyDeleteIt's an agent's job to whip up speculation about their client in the hope of starting a bidding war.
there are always media specultions and clubs interested in top players...how many top players are u goona sell if you get fed up all the time...chill bro
ReplyDeleteManchester united (you're second team Jamie) want him to go really badly. The fans write blogs, their friends in the press create stories, an overall their aim is push him out. the reality is Suarez will stay if he sees the club going places. He is not here long enough to have any loyalty an I would not expect it. Like any club if you don't keep winning the big names leave.
ReplyDeleteOn twitter I have seen many many tweets from the player thanking the fans for their kind messages of support for him during this time. It may be.....an im sticking my head out, the interest he has in twitter an the huge support from the fans, that it may the fans who keep him here.
Honesty it won't be gents like. I find you're stories very critical of a club you say you are a fan of. FANatic don't speak about anything they are passionate about.
Peps bro should be concern more in giving better advise and support to Suarez. I didnt hear from him when the whole ordeal started. Now he sees $$$ he wants a peice of the pie. Great agent Suarez has hired!
ReplyDeleteExactly, it was an agenda to get Suarez has out of the country. His 6-7 league goals were really threatning United's supremacy and once Carroll entered the fold, all hell broke loose. They are pissing their pants at Old Trafford. It was onlyafter David NGog left that SAF was able to breathe. But I am sure he's hoping Suarez heads towards the exit.
ReplyDeleteStill can't get over the Opinionists putting out opinions in high profile sites like this one. This is not journalism, it is opinionism.
ReplyDeletePlease stop the "I think", "One would think", "Most people think" - just report facts and leave it at that, no more sh*t stirring on every single bleeding subject please.
Not bothered about Suarez any more after his behaviour. Stay or go, do what you like.
ReplyDeleteSUAREZ is staying..
ReplyDeleteI don't think Suarez wants to leave. Don't know what the club owners think though.
ReplyDeleteagree with all but get rid of adam and add downing....
ReplyDelete75 mil pounds if anyone wants him! Full stop.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, get the best price and move on, as there will be another incident....................
ReplyDeleteHe's another Tevez, either very unlucky or a totally bad apple.
And Kenny can continue kissing his ar$e, after he moves elsewhere, if he wants.
ReplyDeletei think the writers concerning suarez since evra incident occur has nothing to do for their living, can't they (writers) look for something else to write and leave suarez alone to focus on his football.the writers should stop distracting suarez .
ReplyDeleteI bet you were "kissing his arse" last season when he outstanding and will be "kissing his arse" if he helps fire the club into the top 4.
ReplyDeleteThere's no need for you guys to hate on the guy over speculation - Other big clubs after him want him because he is a brillaint football player and he has not stated anything about leaving and on the contrary wants to improve his image again by playing like we all know he can .... amazingly!
good article Jaime. In my opinion due to both the club and fans standing beside him through the whole incident with Evra will hopefully make him realize that he's cared for here at Liverpool. With that said, if a player wants to leave it's always best to let them leave b/c they may not give 100% the following season. Ultimately Liverpool needs to play it smart if there are any bids coming in and have a proper replacement lined up before selling. YNWA!
ReplyDeleteSorry mate, it's not a good article. It's an article trying to make something out of nothing.
