Kevin Keegan blasts: Ferguson was 'Wrong', and he should've kept his mouth shut...

Liverpool legend Kevin Keegan has slammed Sir Alex Ferguson for his crass public attack on Luis Suarez after Liverpool's defeat at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Keegan, whose Newcastle team memorably battled Man United for the league title in the 1990s, was incensed with Ferguson's hypocritical comments about 'getting rid' of Suarez, and told ESPN:

"To come out and say a player shouldn't play for another club is wrong.

"It's a very strong statement and it's unusual to comment on another club's player.

"Both clubs have handled it badly, and instead of calming this down they've allowed it to escalate".

Keegan also slammed Patrice Evra's conduct after the game finished:

"Evra after the game - why would he want to do that? [Celebrate in front of Suarez]. You've won the game; sometimes as a manager you just don't understand players."

To be fair, Ferguson criticised Evra's celebration after the game, but overall, I completely agree with Keegan: what right does United's manager have to suggest that Suarez never plays for Liverpool again?

I have great respect for Ferguson's managerial abilities, but he is - without doubt - a gigantic hypocrite. I didn't hear him calling for Eric Cantona, Roy Keane or Rio Ferdinand to be kicked out of the game after their infinitely more severe offences:

* Cantona: Deliberately Kung-Fu kicked a fan (Okay, the idiot arguably deserved it, but still...)

* Keane: Deliberately scythed down Alf Inge Haaland with a career-threatening tackle.

* Ferdinand: Missed a drug test.

Refusing a handshake - as wrong as it was - is not in the same league of seriousness as the above incidents, all of which brought shame and disgrace on the game.

I highlight these issues NOT to make a comparison with Suarez's conduct in the Evra situation, but to illustrate Ferguson's hypocrisy and OTT reaction after the game on Saturday.

  1. Fergie has had Suarez in his sights from day one, labelling him a play actor,a racist(even though fergie was best friends with Bernard Manning)a cheat knowing the papers would pick up on this. Now Fergie wants him out of football. For what,Evra insulted Suarez and got a bit back.I think its humiliating how Dalglish has apologised to Man Utd.The same people who accused rafa over his rant,i would much prefer a manager who stands upto man utd than one whose afraid of him. After Rafas rant by the way our points average went up,so apart from standing upto fergie it also galvanised the players.

  2. The mancs themselves gave Cantona a several months ban as well as a fine, a good few weeks before the FA hearing.

That scumbag Keano did assault Haaland's leg but it was the other leg that he didn't injure that caused Haaland to retire. Keane injured Haaland's right knee, whereas Haaland retired because of a injury to his left knee. Regardless of that, Keane still assaulted him. At the time though, Ferguson didn't defend Keane or wear a t-shirt in protest.

Not sure about the word 'deliberate' in the Ferdinand sentence.

Ferguson should not have said what he said, maybe it was stupid gamesmanship or heat of the moment (as such excuses are given for KK). Just like KK should not have said/done many things in relation to Suarez debacle from the moment Suarez was charged. Ferguson did, I must admit, do well throughout this whole debacle until the weekend's comment after the came as he kept comments about the Suarez debacle to a minimum. But both managers, time and time again, whatever their motives/reasons, have this habit of making inflammatory and classless comments. Its a pity that most, if not all, top managers are like that, past and present.

The point of the handshake was to draw a line under it all. Hence, the hoo-ha. Its a different type of incident to the ones you referred to, even though they are serious and disgusting, especially the Keane one. There is no real proper direct parallel to this Suarez-racism incident, especially the way it played out, to the those incidents. So this 'look at the past, how can so-n-so make such a comment', etc, angle doesn't really cut it, in my view.

  5. Normally, fans would debate offside decisions, referee's mistakes, players cheating and so forth. Now because of a silly handshake, the Manchester United fans are demanding Suarez to apologise (which he did), King Kenny to apologise (which he did as well), Liverpool to apologise (which they did) and now us Liverpool fans to apologise? My dad and me are Liverpool fans. What have we done other than supporting our club? Ridiculous demand from Mancs. Should we millions of Liverpool fans kneel down infront of TV so that this saga would be over? Stop making things worst just for the spite!

  6. Suarez and Dalglish were made to apologize because of the threats of sponsors like Standard Chartered. This is a money game....money has a higher currency that morale principles.

  7. Ferguson said that Suarez had let Liverpool down and should not play for them again, not that Suarez should never play football again - big difference. IMHO Ferguson wouldn't mind seeing Suarez stay at Liverpool as he is a disruptive influence wherever he's been and, not being anti-Liverpool in particular, he weakens one of Man Utd's possible rivals. Its true that Ferguson isn't a Liverpool fan but he is a Shankly fan and that's why he thinks Suarez has gone against the spirit of LFC. Suarez is typical of the modern day player that puts themselves ahead of the team. It could be argued that Keegan was one of the first of that breed of player. You can include Gerrard, Rooney, Ashley Cole and Rio Ferdinand in that list (but not Gary Neville, Carragher or Scholes).

Liverppol fans should look a for the video that saysthis, Keane and Viera fight in the tunnel,WE have video proof of both Keane and Scholes refusing to shake Patrick Vieira’s hand before the match, I guess he say a different tune that day? or did he believe those two should never have played for Manchester United again? So Sir Alex, worry about your own club and their actions before you worry about our’s.YNWA Luis Suarez.Tthe video can bee found on the AnfieldRedlink.

  12. That's why i was expecting an appology from Fergie and Evra for what Fergie said and Evra OTT celebration not forgetting trying to enter the LFC dressing room at HT until Skrtel stopped him.

Whether or not Suarez shook his hand 2 wrongs dnt make a right, Utd deserved their win, Evra got made to look the victim what more did he want, it was stupid from both of them, they both should come out and appologise, but i won't hold my breath.

  14. Hypocrasy is irrelivant here looking for a moral equivilence is pointless and holds no bearing on the facts. What remains is that suarez has once again put the club in an awkward position. Compounded by a PR disaster by the club which is prepetuated by Dalgish. Evra was totally right to celebrate in front of his fans, anyone would want to stick it to suarez after being wronged twice by the uruguayan. That was a natural response, suarez on the other had has been premeditated and devious.

Cantona and ferdinand were both suspended by MUFC the day after the offense, Alf ing haalands career was ended by an injury to his other knee, not the one Roy Keane connected with. Lfc should look no further than Suarez for a scapegoat for this. And does owe lfc a lot for blindly sticking by him on this.

  20. Was their racism-incident as the background story to that refusal of the handshake? I don't think so, so it doesn't really relate fully, as it was down to petty incident in the tunnel. The rivalry between those two clubs at the time was at its peak, whereas this was mostly to do with Evra-Suarez, as there hasn't been a volatile relationship between the mancs and liverpool set of players for a while now

  21. lol

Rio - missed the test by accident and offered to take it the next day and ended up with a massive ban similar to if he had failed, while a city player got off very lightly.

Keane - didnt end his career it was the other leg and he attack keane as he laid in pain.

Cantona - kicked a racist fan and got banned by the club which was later extended by the fa.

Suarez let your club down and Fergies comment sounded like praise for the history of your club..

  25. JAIMIE, I LAST POSTED ON SATURDAY ABOUT THE DISGUSTING ATMOSPHERE AND THE DISGRACEFUL BEHAVIOUR OF SAUREZ THIS WAS BEFORE THE END OF THE FIRST HALF.
I THEN SAID THEN THAT THIS IS DALGLISH'S FAULT AND FSG NEEDED TO ACT TO PROTECT THE REPUTATION OF THE CLUB.

I AM SAYING IT NOW CLEARLY THAT IF THE EVENTS OF THE LAST 48 HRS HAVE SHOWN US ANYTHING IS THAT DALGLISH IS NOT THE MANAGER TO DRIVE US TO PREMIER LEAGUE TITLES LET ALONE THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE PLACES AND I SAID THIS AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON AND I AM REPEATING IT NOW.

WHAT WORRIES ME ABOUT ALL THE HANDSHAKE IS THIS IS DETRACTING AWAY FROM THE MAIN PROBLEM.
NAMELY THE PLAYERS BOUGHT BY DALGLISH ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

THIS AFTER FSG INVESTED OVER £110 MILLION POUNDS UNDER DALGLISH.
CLEARLY HE BOUGHT THE WRONG PLAYERS AND THE TEAM ARE PLAYING POORLY.

I'M NOT GOING TO BE DISTRACTED FROM THE PERFORMANCE OF THE TEAM AND THE PURCHASES MADE.
IF ANYONE NEEDS ANY FURTHER EVIDENCE THAT THIS SQAUD IS NO BETTER THAN LAST YEAR THEN I SAY TO YOU THE LEAGUE TABLE DOESN'T LIE.

FSG SERIOUSLY WILL HAVE TO LOOK AT THE APPOINTMENT OF DALGLISH AS MANAGER.
HE GOT THE POSITION ON REPUTATION NOT MERIT.
HIS IN ABILITY TO GET RESULTS AND TO GET US IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WITH THE AMOUNT OF MONEY HE HAS HAD AT HIS DISPOSAL SHOULD BE USED TO JUDGE HIM ON.

I CANNOT SUPPORT A MAN THAT HAS DAMAGED THE REPUTATION OF OUR CLUB, EVEN IF I LOVE WHAT HE DID FOR US IN THE PAST.

IN OUR HEART OF HEARTS HOW MANY OF US SERIOUSLY THINK THAT KENNY DALGLISH CAN BRING THE PREMIER LEAGUE TO LIVERPOOL?

BE HONEST WITH YOURSELVES FOR THE GOOD OF THE CLUB AND NOT  ANY PLAYER OR MANAGER.

  26. Agree entirely, the mans a hypocrite and to add to is a self righteous son of a gun. Too true you have to give him plaudits for engineering Man Utds success for the past 20 years. But it gives him no right to share his opinion without so much of a backlash for his unwise words. No one will because too be honest everyone whose involved just wants the incident put to rest, as it's just fanning the flames of a ludicrously overblown story. Ferguson by his own actions did exactly what he said Suarez not shaking hands would do. Antagonising the situation even further. For all his qualities, Ferguson is the one person who can't take peoples opinions if he doesn't suit his own agenda, walking out of and refusing to do interviews when he gets in a strop. He's a deeply flawed, conniving individual whose opinion should taken with a pinch of salt. For someone in his position he should know better, but he's treated too reverently, too which he does not deserve and fragrantly misuses for his own end

  31. Ferguson didn't criticise Evra for doing so but he explained "It was wrong but one can understand why he did"
When it comes to Evra he has sympathy because Evra is a human and he has emotions. What about Suarez ?

Whatever happened was bad but Ferguson has used the situation to portray Liverpool in bad light. No doubt about it.
As a Liverpool fan, I will never forgive Ferguson for this.

  33. Evra can celebrate in front of his own supporters any way he wants. Only 9 months ago i was saying how pathetic the Man Utd players were for confronting Balotelli for doing the same thing after the cup semi final. You win a game, you can do what you like with your own fans. If anything Reina, Skrtel and Henderson should have stayed out of it. If they were worried about Suarez, they should have taken their man off the pitch, before he could boot another ball at the opposition dug out.

Nothing that i saw on saturday suggests to me that, either, Dalglish or Suarez will be around next season, or should they be. For different reasons, they both looked well out of their depth.

  36. @ Dillon......nobody asked for bended knee proposal.
Like some bad apples in the Liverpool fan base, so are there bad Man U supporters.
The issue more so - which caused the incitement - is/was that KK defended Suarez all the way even though Suarez admitted to using the 'N' word.
2 wrongs don't make a right and some Man U supporters I assume feel aggrieved that the wave of apologies came so late.
For the record, I think Evra over elabotare celebration was uncalled for, it doesn't negate Suarez's initial incitement.

  49. I always support the team no matter who is playing or who is in charge as long as they represent the club and on the pitch but have to agree that a Downing's performance against United was his worst game since he signed.

Kenny got his tactics seriously wrong in that game ... Giggs, Scholes, Carrick and Valencia were controlling most of the game themselves.

In my opinion regarding the article Fergie did say a bit too much.

This whole incident has been a nightmare and depressing to everyone connected to the club and even though Liverpool at times didn't do things the correct way (to keep the media quiet) and Suarez should have shaken hands with Evra just to put this story to bed - I feel United have been a little bit devious in this whole thing. Suarez should not have referred to Evra with his chosen native words because in this country it's not accepted and I don't believe Suarez is racists especially as he has a black grandfather which makes himself of mixed race/culture.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Here is thought for all LFC fans doggedly defending Suarez...A fundamental part of Why Suarez was found guilty by an independent panel centred around his credibility as witness. It was highlighted that the story he told three senior members of LFC was inconsistent with his evidence to the panel. If there was any doubt as to his credibilty i do not think any LFC fans can have any doubt now. It was agreed by LFC as stated by KD that LS had assured him earlier in the week that he would shake Evras hand. This is why when told about the non handshake KD reacted the way he did...as he had taken LS word he would do so and KD had no reason to doubt. Once again LS has shown he is not credible invidual and you cannot take anything he says as correct. How can you say one the thing to the man who has stood by and defended you without question putting his reputation (now in tatters i may add) on the line and then stab him in the back in the eyes of the world. I cannot even begin to imagine how many people worldwide would be watching the biggest domestic game in world fotball....

If I can use the following analogy an Atlete wins countless medals then one day gets caught cheating how do we know all the medals he had previously won were not tainted...we do not know for certain (in fact they may not be and were genuinely won fair and square)...there doubt is now there...

  51. LFC have handled this badly because they have not been consistent. They needed to stick by Suarez.
They need to tell Ferguson to butt out and stop interfering with LFC.  Racism ,especially prejudice, is serious , but comments on the field in the heat of the moment do not make one a racist. Suarez has been badly treated. 8 Games and public mauling are unfair. I do not blame him for not shaking hands with the trouble maker Evra. There is a kind of racism in the treatment of Suarez-"dirty animal south american attitude".
The real culprits other than MANU are the FA and government with their politically correct over the top campaigns on racism it makes people thin skinned and obssesive .

Handshake? meaningless? It clearly wasn't, if you look at the reaction of everyone. Even Suarez in his apology acknowledges that he should have done it, which illustrates it wasn't meaningless. So too KK on Thursday. Maybe meaningless to you but not to the likes of KK, Ayre, Suarez, etc. To the people that matter.

By Saturday, prior to the handshake, everyone involved wanted to a draw a line underneath it, included KK and move on.

Nothing to do with plonky red nose ferguson, and as for Rooney remonstrating with Phil Dowd at Half time for Suarez kicking the ball into the crowd made me laugh!!!

Man Utd think they are above everyone else including the law, their fans sing ''they are Utd and do what they want''. If it had been anyone else who had made such a strong statement about any other player belonging to any other team the press would be all over them, not Fergie though, Untouchable in some parts of this country. stand up and be counted Brian Reade, you tell plonky how it is and he does not like anyone daring to stand up to him!!!
Disgrace for refusing a handshake and nearly causing a riot!! As I saw, it was the Utd players who could not contain their anger, Evra and Ferdinand went out for Suarez in that 1st tackle!!! all Utd players confronting Suarez and the ref on Half Time as he kicked ball into crowd(Not right for Suarez to do but Ref is there to govern on that field not Rooney and ferdinand!!)That's what set the tone for the near riot at HT and as for FT it was Evra(The same credible individual who never lies or instigates his national team players to orchestrate a strike on playing for their country at a world Cup. Quality credentials to be made your club captain there Alex) HE instigated all the trouble at FT as he was SO pent up he has to incite the whole crowd with his lap dog Rafael before kissing and pointing to his badge infront of Suarez!!!
Evra should be the one up on an FA misconduct charge, technically Suarez has done nothing wrong as Bridge was not charged for his same offense!!! Suarez could and should have acted differently, he has served his punishment when he feels he was innocent but I have not heard any form of praise for him for not reacting to Evra at Full time and just continued to walk to the dressing room when a lesser man would have knocked him out!!!! Not his fault all the LFC players are backing him and rightly bloody so they should!!! This is Man Utd we are talking about here!!!!!!!
Time to move on now, fair play to UTD for saying they want to move on but I half expect Fergie to have something to say in the next few weeks!!Maybe on thursday Night to the Channel 5 sports team!!!!

  69. Rio Ferdinand missed drugs test, a summary of events.

Before training, he was told along with two other players that he would be tested for drugs after training. Training ended and Rio flew off to town, where he was pictured shopping. At 2.02pm he remembered the drugs test and called the club to ask could he come back for the test. The testers told him he was too late, however they didn’t leave Carrington until 2.27pm, which would have been enough time to return for the test. UEFA’s website confirmed that Rio had asked to take the test on the same day but was told it was too late. An important point to mention is that drug-test procedures do not have a time limit so there was no reason why the testers couldn’t have waited, given the implications of what him not taking the test were. Rio was tested for drugs at their next convenience, two days later, and that test came back negative.
Before Rio’s ban and fine had been announced, PFA chief Gordon Taylor was confident, like many, that there would be no problem in clearing the defender’s name, after the evidence that Rio’s plea to take the test before the testers have left was rejected.
“If I was representing the FA and they asked me should it go ahead, I would say that unless they can mount an emphatic challenge to this evidence it should not,” he said. “We don’t want to sweep anything under the carpet but the case is now far from cut and dried. It is clear the testers should have stayed. Not enough was done to ensure Rio took the test on that day. It is not good enough to just leave when he was prepared to make it back.”
After Rio’s unprecedented punishment was handed out, Rio offered to have a hair follicle test, which would have given results for the past 6 months, dating before his original test date, but the FA declined his request.
The MEN reported at the time: The FA does not appear to dispute Ferdinand’s claims that he has never taken drugs – they have not listed him for target-testing, which would be the usual procedure for any player suspected of being a drug user. And their refusal to get involved in hair follicle testing is further evidence that they do not question Ferdinand’s claims that he is drug-free. They maintain the punishment is for his failure to take the test alone.
The whole episode was an absolute farce and illustrates the idiocy of fans claiming United are given preferential treatment by the FA. The unjust nature of this incident is heightened when you look at the case of Christian Negouai, a Manchester City player, who missed a drugs test just months before Rio. Negouai was due to take a pre-arranged drugs test at City’s training ground but at the appointed time he went missing, later explaining that he had had to collect his mother from the airport. He claimed that he was delayed in traffic and by the time he made it he had missed the test. He was given no ban and was fined just £2,000.

  70. Evra went past the other stands as well to celebrate like an idiot before going onto that stand.

Incitement for what? Celebrating with his fans? The handshake was supposed to draw a line underneath it all. No rule you have to but sometimes important to bring a end to things, as illustrated on Saturday.

  71. Fergie was right in everything he said EXCEPT that Liverpool getting rid of Suarez. Not our business what LFC do. He went OTT there, no doubt that at. Possibly a bit of frustration and anger at the various leaks and stunts from Anfield these past few months?

    ReplyDelete
  72. suarez was walking to the changing rooms and hardly looked at Evra. To be honest Evra Hardly posed as a victim at that moment!!!! Has Rooney never booted the ball into opposition crowds when crying over things?? And as for Evra being allowed to celebrate infront of his fans the way he wants, whatever mate, did LFC players act like that knocking UTD out the FA cup? No!!!!
Evra nearly caused a riot, not suarez, as for Suarez not being there next season, I have watched loads UTD games and have seen how much of a rapid decline in Evra's game, makes so many mistakes especially in his positional play, he will be the one not in the premier league!!!!HE is out his depth at times!!Just as Kuyt goal in FA cup clealrly highlighted

    ReplyDelete
  73. Yep, Suarez has a fantastic scoring record in a Liverpool shirt doesn't he.....

Forlan scored against us, so that means he wasn't out of his depth at mancs during his time there.....no, he was cack for them.

Do you think the players even care?

This entire debacle has become so tiresome

And we are shit, Spurs are best side in the league. My uncle almost converted me to Spurs 27 years ago. Pity I rebuffed him

  80. The circumstances that you need to believe in to make Suarez the innocent party in all of this just gets longer and longer by the day. He's made a fool of his club, his manager and a lot of his apologists. You have to believe that Suarez only referred to Evra's colour once, he meant it in a friendly way, as he meant the pinching and the grabbing of the head, he did not tell Kuyt or Comolli what they had said he told them, that in South America people refer to skin colour all the time and everyone laughs, Evra insulted his sister, even though he doesn't have one, that he did not say 'what happens on the pitch stays on the pitch, or if he did he was referring to his spotless behaviour and, finally, that handshakes are irrelevent, even though he promised his manager he would go through with it. And if they are not irrelevent, it was not his fault anyway, because Evra clearly moved his hand back 2 millimetres before Suarez was about to shake his hand.

On the other hand, pardon that pun, Evra is a despicable lying cheat who accused a groundsman of racism, forced the entire French team to go on strike, has history in all sorts of unsavoury cases, unlike Suarez, who has been out to get Suarez banned from the start and lied about how many times Suarez used offensive language because it was never 10 (but could have been 7) and if he misunderstood Suarez's spanish, which he admitted, it is because he is a lying scumbag and not because his first language is French. On top of that, you can see him smirking and planning his next move as Suarez, the wide eyed child, is approaching him, and, considering he has lied all along he had a nerve celebrating like that towards the end in front of his own supporters. He also forced Suarez to kick the ball at the Man Utd dug out and tried to force his way into the Liverpool dressing room, forcing players like Henderson and Skrtel to show more fight than they showed for the entire match.

If he can get fight out of the likes of Henderson, maybe we should make Evra our next manager?

    ReplyDelete
  81. Urgh. I can't be bothered with people who deluded themselves that Suarez did try to shake Evra hand, as that is just ridiculous considering the video and his statement. Cheerio

    ReplyDelete
  82. If you don't suspect what the true story is already, and think you are going to get the truth from Suarez's mouth, maybe Madrid is not a bad place for him and you to go. After all, booing black players is no big deal there.

    ReplyDelete
  83. the stats? erm the stats say, this season, you scored more or won more points (one of the two) when Suarez doesn't play. If anything, you were done a favour by having Suarez banned.

    ReplyDelete
  84. One of my own fans? What would that be? Have you decided that anyone who does not want to support someone who racially abuses people is not a LFC supporter?

You know what, if your comment was not so dull and predictable I'd make an effort to reply to it again. But it is a waste of time. Read the old posts rather than waste time with the same nonsense.

  85. Yeah and Ferguson gave Cantona a pay rise when he threatened to quit  English football because he felt hard done by

    ReplyDelete
  86. ah now, You simply can't compare cantona and suarez in this way. Cantona attacked a fan who was racially abusing him. Now, the problem with cantona wasn't that he attacked the fan. (he totally had it coming) The problem with cantona was that he was generally a bit of a violent psychopath, (just like zidane) and attacking a racist fan, who is shouting at you after you have just been sent off for kicking someone, is what violent psychopaths do. Attacking the fan was the peak of what was escalating behaviour. He was very unlikely to ever attack a fan again, but he might stamp on someone, or kick them in the head, and then the press condemnation would begin again. That's when you would get the media shit storm breaking over your head.

The point is that ferguson gave cantona a second chance, and he was only booked once in the following season. He took his second chance and changed his behaviour. Ferdinand became considerably more professional after his ban and became the best sweeper defender in the world.

For Ferguson the Bad thing that suarez did, was get banned for racially abusing evra. It brought shame and embarrassment on the club. United were prepared to put the whole thing behind them. They thought that liverpool were on exactly the same page. Both clubs thought that suarez should have a second chance, and that started with the handshake. When he refused the handshake, He just threw his second chance back in their faces.

the reason that ferguson is entitled to pass judgement on luis suarez and whether or not liverpool should get rid of him, (apart from suarez being banned for racially abusing one of his players) is that it wasn't just liverpool giving suarez a second chance. Man utd were providing the platform for everone to move on. For suarez to reject that must have made him furious.

It is as though cantona got sent off on his return from his ban against liverpool.

Ferguson isn't saying that liverpool should Get rid of suarez because he racially abused Evra. It's not shaking hands. By telling the club that he was going to shake hands, and then deliberately refusing, he showed that he was going to put his own wishes ahead of his responsibilities to the club. And that is the problem

he's saying that they should get rid of him because he is going to be a continual source of hassle and bad publicity and embarrassment. He has already dragged the name of the club through the mud, but he looks like he has learned nothing, and will do it again and again. He hasn't learned, he hasn't changed. It's only a matter of time before he does something again.

within three minutes of his return from suspension, he inexplicably kicked English media darling Scott MOTM Parker in the stomach. He could have been sent off and banned for 3 games. He bit someone a month before liverpool signed him. You can't rely on him to behave.

oh, and Two things would have contributed heavily to the liverpool apologies. The New york times (which is a part owner of FSG)  printed an article in their sunday edition which calls on henry and werner by name to step up and take control of this situation and repair the damage that is being done to liverpool.
    http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/12/sports/soccer/liverpools-luis-suarez-refuses-to-shake-the-hand-of-uniteds-patrice-evra.html?_r=1

and Standard Chartered rang them up to express their concerns.
"''We were very disappointed by Saturday's incident and have discussed our
    concerns with the club,''

    http://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/surez-row-with-evra-prompted-liverpool-shirt-sponsors-to-intervene-3018036.html?

it would appear that it is more than alex ferguson that is allowed have a say on luis suarez.

  88. Not to mention that there was that supporter of Locomotive Leipzig in 1974 who got away with it as well. Incredible irrelevent drivel that some people come out with to excuse our club's behaviour. Then they give up on that and start saying what difference does a handshake make? Then they move to 'Evra moved his hands.'. Sad and pathetic.

    ReplyDelete

  95. I think this must be one of the biggest media frenzies of all time that has many fans spouting utter nonsense. People need to read the FA report before jumping on the media bandwagons. The FA categorically stated that Luis Suarez was not a racist. They believed the evidence provided by Patrice Evra was "probably" more reliable than that provided by Luis Suarez. The terms used are common place in South America and they cited an ignorance to the meaning in our culture not being acceptable. The report also has Patrice Evra saying he made lewd suggestions about Luis Suarez's sister that started the altercation. If there had been sufficient proof that a racist remark had been made then this would have gone to court. The FA should have stepped in as they did with the Chelsea QPR game and this debacle would have been avoided. Suarez has served his punishment so everyone get over it.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Black grandfather my ar*e. Actually, if Suarez calls Evra negrito, which he admits, and is not a racist, I really believe, by now, he comes out and says 'listen mate, you hacked me off, I didn't mean to offend you, but these accusations are serious and i am not happy to have my name brought down like this'. What we have got, instead, is a number of hissy fits, such as t shirts and the non handshake and at no time has he seemed to care about what he has been accused of or how wrong it is. Instead, he has simply wanted the club to stick two fingers up to the world. In the meantime, 2 players have been actually abused, he could have given himself a better name by asking supporters to show restraint and respect opponnents, but, no, he is too busy making his own point. If anything, his behaviour since the ban makes me suspect him more than his behaviour that got him banned. The fact that, like many on here, he does not seem to be horrified enough at the charges to fight them properly or apologise, makes me wonder........

  97. Keane never injured Haaland, in fatc haaland played 3 games in th enext 7 days, 2 for Norway and one for city.

Rio took the test 45 mins late, but the fa's anti united stance banned him anyway, at the same time city player negoui missed a test and got a 2k fine

Cantona kicked a fan who racially abused him and said he would rape and kill his kids. The fan was also already banned from all stadiums in the country for links the NF and hooliganism

  98. Sure i could find some words from Hitler to quote for the sheep but can't be bothered, you probably know them already. If you think this is about who people support you have a sad, sheltered life.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Evra actually went right the way around the ground, suarez probably waited until he close, therefore making evra look bad, when in fact Evra was just celebrating with his own fans, in his own ground

    ReplyDelete
  100. In front of his own fans, so you do have a problem with that? Whether Suarez is there or not is irrelevent. In your eyes, a black man breathing is incitement enough, it seems.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Yeah, don't forget the supporter of Dinamo Tblisi who was abused an opponent once, why should they get away with it?

Ferdinand was right to not shake Suarez's hand considered what he just saw, if you can't see that then there is no helping you.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Give it a rest! No one said he was a racist, try to keep up!

And your comments about Standard Chartered are blinkered and arrogant. If you don't want them or anyone to interfere, get some of the people on here to put their hands in their pocket to make up the shortfall.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Basically your saying Rio was right to stand up for Evra, bit like Liverpool players standing up for Luis against Wigan, fair enough i see your point, both are shows of support for your team mates. The thing with Rio is his brother is embroiled in a case with JT,so dont you think Rio is taking the high moral ground here, also hes always on twitter giving his two penneth against suarez as is Rooney, its obvious now Man Utd have all the power.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Yes, Suarez heard that too, so he decided he did not need to shake hands with Evra to save Kenny embarrassment. I think that Legia Warsaw once had a guy who did similar and, equally, incensed Suarez and made him realise that he was being victimised.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Very sad, you refuse to face facts don't you?

It is Walter Matthau who is in bed with another woman and his wife comes in and says 'who's that woman in my bed?' and he says 'what woman?'.

That's you, scouser007. Obviously shaken and stirring.

    ReplyDelete
  106. to right mate what about the high morals of rooney & giggs

    ReplyDelete
  107. Who had the most proof? Ferdinand or Kuyt, who Suarez contradicted? Suarez clearly went against what was agreed and i would not be surprised if both clubs agreed to see this out. Why the hell should anyone shake Suarez's hand when he snubs the team's captain like that? Now, what proof did the LFC players have that Suarez was telling the truth, did they see it with their own eyes? No, but i bet there are some wondering if he has not lied to everyone now. Mind you, most footballers don't care and are happy to have a ruck with someone over anything.

    ReplyDelete
  108. You obviously know a lot about life, because i wasn't talking about football. You have just shown your limitations, talk about the football, leave the life talk to the adults.

Gab, not all Real Madrdi fans boo black players - that was a bit sweeping mate

    ReplyDelete
  110. So, Evra has to be a victim all the time for you? And should he call you sir as well? Oh, some guy who plays for Carl Zeiss Jena once kicked a ball into the opponents dug out and was flogged at half time. Swings and roundabouts in this game. Think the rumour was that Evra shopped him and Ferguson spent most of the season trying to get the guy banned. He then perfected the hand moving techniques with Evra that so bamboozled Suarez.

Yeah, Kuyt's goal does not indicate someone who was abused by people for an entire game losing concentration, does it?

I have no desire to be in a mob, i don't care what the supposed villain has done. Some of you like the idea of being in a mob too much. It says a lot about you. A bullying mentality which befits racists. I don't blame anyone who is young and from a developing part of the world who decide to spend their hard earned cash on shirts of another team other than us. Why would they want to stand alongside our racist fan base?

  111. Yes, Wikipedia is the best source for facts. HÃ¥land retired because of his left knee.

Says so here in this Norwegian news paper:
    http://fotball.aftenbladet.no/aa/article17552.ece

"Noe av problemet kan være at Alf-Inge HÃ¥land er skadet i det venstre kneet, mens det var det høyre som ble direkte truffet i den voldsomme taklingen. Det har ogsÃ¥ HÃ¥land innrømmet pÃ¥ sin egen hjemmeside. Senere mener HÃ¥land at taklingen har hatt innvirkning pÃ¥ det venstre kneet ogsÃ¥. "

    Translated:
"Part of the problem may be that Alf-Inge Haaland is injured in his left knee, while it was right that was directly hit inthe violent tackle. It also HÃ¥land admitted on his own website. Later, says Haaland tackle that has had an impact on her left knee as well."

Keano still is mental, but get your facts straight.

  112. Well, Suarez and Dalglish's attempts to undermine the anti racist movement in this country make me feel that the FA were giving Suarez the benefit of the doubt when they said he was not racist. Anyone who was not racist would have looked at the damage he was doing and tried to have come into line in some way. As for Kenny, don't care about him now, hope this season is his last. He's got racist sympathies too, as far as i'm concerned, and before people shout the 'usual' what about John Barnes, if it makes you happy i will refer to him as Uncle Tom Barnes from now on. Cheers. After that you can call him to walk your dogs or whatever you people think black people should be doing for you when you are not abusing them.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Technically, sure. He's just probably lost LFC millions in revenue in the coming years. That technical enough for you? Technically, Evra can celebrate on his home ground in front of his own supporters. Try not to be such a one eyed idiot!

    ReplyDelete
  131. Alex Ferguson, the Manchester United, yesterday denied that his goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel had racially abused the Arsenal striker Ian Wright and described the accusation as a "slur" on the club.
Ferguson was responding to claims by Wright in the Sun newspaper that the scuffle with the Danish international in the tunnel at the end of Wednesday's highly-charged Premiership game at Highbury had been provoked by racial abuse.
The pair had earlier clashed on the pitch when a two-footed lunge by Wright left Schmeichel clutching his ankle.
"We can categorically deny any racist remark whatsoever from Peter Schmeichel, I can assure you of that," Ferguson told Sky Sport. "There is no question of that, so it's very disappointing to read that. He's very upset. He's got a family to think about too, his family back in Denmark reading all this."
Ferguson considers the accusation as a "slur" on the reputation of United, who are a "worldwide institution". He pointed out that the club frequently spread the football message overseas.
"Two years ago we were coaching in the townships of South Africa," he said. "And Peter was part of that. We have supporters everywhere in the world. We place great store in our reputation, so it's a big slur on us"
Schmeichel's reputation is already under threat from the possibility of criminal charges relating to alleged racist abuse arising from an incident with Wright when the teams met in the Premiership at Old Trafford in November.

  141. ha ha ha! not even bothering to read above comments in case i've echoed anyone else with half a brain... but, comparing not shaking hands with evra and Cantona, Ferdinand and Keane's misdemeanours...  go back to the original point, you dick head, that you should be comparing cantona's kick, Rio's no-drug test, and Keane's red card offence with a complete RACIST bastard insulting another player about the colour of their skin - Let's not forget the original offence LFC, the handshake (or lack thereof) was just the extra mile your club and player went to try and dig themselves deeper.  We know who the most guilty is in your books, but we also know why you think that, and to be honest, this has gone beyond good healthy banter and is showing you up to be the thickest bunch of idiots ever to talk about football. LFC should be ashamed of itself, and the city, of the current generation of supporters it's bred.

I thought United supporters were wankers. But this just tops it off. You're scum - learn some rules, maybe ask the people who are involved with
justice for the 96, and get some guidance from them because they are your true supporters.

This is Anfield. Make yourself proud of it and stop behaving like racist apologists.

  142. From you post above, here's why Suarez has a beef with Evra 'Suarez ADMITTED it". Now, cast you minds back to the hearing, Suarez admitted what he said to Evra and that it was tit for tat. However, Suarez also ADMITTED that he couldn't exactly recall what Evra said to him, varing reports have said it was something about his sister or South American heritage or something. Anyway, Evra has NEVER ADMITTED to saying anything to Suarez other than he THREATENED TO PUNCH HIM  (is that acceptable in the eyes of the FA? it must be, nothing came of it).
Suarez didn't know he was doing any wrong, do you lot honestly think he's that stupid to incriminate himself? Do you? Evra isn't, hence his silence to what was actually said or, as could be more likely, Ferguson has gripped him before hand and advised him on what he can and can't say to the FA.
But, as usual, the typical knee jerk reaction of sensationalist 'journalism' and the idiotic sheep minded Jeremy Kyle generation have, once again, jumped on the bandwagon and blown this whole farce out of proportion and distorted the facts on what has happened.
The country is full of idiots and they're getting dumber. I'm so glad I only have to spend 6 months of the year in it.
F***ing clowns, learn English, learn to spell and stop being dicks!

    ReplyDelete
  143. Exactly! It's a handshake, not a life saving blood donation, get over it!

    ReplyDelete
  144. It has every relevance to Suarez, the fact that Suarez came out, like a man, and admitted what he said whilst he believed that it was ok pays testament to him. Man Utd, on the other hand, decided to 'plead the 5th' and say nothing as they knew that it would be one man's word against another's and, therefore, unsubstantiated. What did Evra say to Suarez on the pitch? We don't know as he never said, could he have been racially abusing Suarez? Quite possibly but we'll never know as he, too, 'pleaded the 5th'.
So, get off your high horse and look at both sides of the picture. Suarez saying what he did is similar to a 3 yeard old swearing, to them it's only a word and they don't know any different. If he was really intending to racially abuse Evra, Suarez would have 'pleaded the 5th' and nothing more would have come of it.

    ReplyDelete
  147. So you are comparing Rio's missed drug test (8 months) to 8 games for racial slur. Hmmm. good going Jaimie, Sir Alex IS a big hypocrite. I was wondering that since you guys look spot on to miss out on Europe again, very soon you will be among the also-rans. Then suarez kicking up a storm woudn't be as important. And then very soon you won't be able to afford players like Suarez, then you will become a mid table team. Then one day Alex mcleish will be your manager. Shoudn't you be more worried about that. United can deal with their wayword stars without you. S\sir Alex can say whatever he wans because no ones gonna make him apologize. It would be better for your sake to think about your own team.

    ReplyDelete
  150. God! There's an awful lot of tripe on this one....

    ReplyDelete
  151. yeah, the mother of all cheaters calling others a cheat. I think Gerrard as the captain must boycott the England squad as a protest to the FA regarding their biased handling of Suarez saga and the Terry's. How Terry didn't get banned from matches is beyond me! Suarez is so naive to admit that he says something to a player called Evra that u can see behaved like an animal not once but many, actually provoking is more blatant than reacting. The FA is so dubious that not even bothered about Fergie's comment on the linesman after the Chelsea game. The same player block another player and dived, to my horror the same ref that famously known as an MU supporter without hesitation point to the spot. Another one after that even not worth a foul at a netball game.No handshake at QPR game but why not at Old Trafford? Did Fergie instruct the FA to it? After the game he called for Suarez to be expelled from the league not because he's a racist or a cheat, because he sees Suarez as the one who will transform Liverpool to a team that feared by many before!

    ReplyDelete
  152. Suarez is a one of the worse diving cheats in football today and the worse in PL. Anyone that says anything to contradict that is deluding themselves. Surely we aren't that desperate for a new hero that we need to delude ourselves about how pious Suarez is. If he was playing for anyone else, he would get a lot of stick from Liverpool fans. But hey, he plays in our shirt, so we can't moan about him eh and he is angelic(!)....urgh, the hypocrisy.

Ronaldo got loads of grief in the early days for diving, more than Suarez got and than he improved on it, even though he still went down quite a bit. Apart from diving, there wasn't much the media could moan about Ronaldo, whereas Suarez now has a big portfolio of inflammatory things he does and has done to fire up the media. He brings it on all himself.

    ReplyDelete
  153. erm how is Schmeichel a racist? The case was investigated by the FA and they found there was no case to be answered. Suarez admitted he used a potentially racist word, whereas Schmeichel didn't as well as no evidence/witnesses to substantiate any allegations of racism by Schmeichel. Big difference.

If your going to bring up old incidents (don't know why you would as its so long ago), at least make it relevant and at least don't lie. Its pathetic and desperate.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Why are you trying to bring a racist angle to people's comments?

Where has anyone said that Evre isn't entitled to do something because he is black?

    ReplyDelete
  155. From the way he acts on the pitch for Ajax, Uruguay and Liverpool....yes, I do think he is that stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Ruddock broke both of his legs but he said a while back, he 'only' meant to break one of his legs on purpose. Its out there in the public domain, not hard to find.

    ReplyDelete
  157. The circumstances of the case is different to the ones in Suarez. Suarez admitted the potential inflammatory and racist word. So to only a certain extent, should Liverpool should have defended him. Whereas the FA investigated and found there was no case to answer in Schmeichel's case, as Schmeichel never admitted anything racist, nor was there witnesses like Comolli/Kuyt to substantiate Wright's claim. Hence, Ferguson was more than entitled to defend him like that. Totally different circumstances. If you can't see that, than check out the yellow pages for the nearest opticians.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Or maybe Schmeichel never said a racist comment, hence Ferguson defended him, whereas Suarez admitted it. But hey, its the 'mancs' and to you lot, you have to think the worse of them, especially if it suits your agenda. Gosh, you lot are pathetic sometimes, really are desperate and petty. Think the sunshines out of anything Liverpool do, and everyone else who contradicts that are liars and evil. Grow up.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Answered the stupidity of your irrelevant bringing up of Schmeichel case earlier. Schmeichel never admitted a racist word nor were they any witnesses like Kuyt/Comolli to substantiate Wright's claim, whereas Suarez admitted it. Hence why there is more justification in Ferguson defending Schmechel, than there is Liverpool defending Suarez. It really isn't that hard to decipher and understand the difference.

    ReplyDelete
  160. 'both sides of the picture'?....coming from you, that is hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  161. No, I think them winning the title last season makes up for Liverpool results.

  163. racism in the premier league what a joke. every week english players get away with murder while the foreign lads get the bans. the fa are the biggest bunch of racists out there. did anyone notice the only thing stevie g did on saturday. he went into evra really wrecklessly if he had of caught him the tackle would have broke evra up. thats why i love our captain he knew as england hero he would get away with it. fergie is a cunt but has filled his team with england players to get better treatment from refs and the fa in general. maybe this is why we went all english this summer but it hasnt seemed to work. sky love united and have played as big a part as anyone in this. why oh why is john terry still on a pitch the one player in england whos definatly racist, it wouldnt be cause hes english would it.

  164. Keane's tackle ended Haaland's career,Keane later admitted in his autobiography that he intentionally injured Haaland.

  165. You think so, do you think that only blond hair and blue eyed people can be racist? How simple and clear cut your life must be!!

    ReplyDelete
  166. Yes, I know that, definitely used a bit of artistic licence there! I just thought that the poster's attitude to someone causing all this nonsense shouldn't be 'well, then clear off and leave everyone else to clean it up', which is what I think will happen.

But definitely did not intend to offend the majority of decent Real supporters!

    ReplyDelete
  167. Oh, Fairway, where am I finding a racist angle, a player abuses a black player, comes up with the most ridiculous excuses ever, which look like lies, we then smear the other guy and then the player lies again to our manager and refuses to shake the guys hand, in the meantime, two of our supporters get arrested for racist abuse. We then have a mob who boo the other guy. Where do you think I am getting the angle from? Are you that dense or just being willfully dense?

I've got the angle because I believe that anyone who continues to still blindly believe a proven liar has another agenda. And after watching football, and people, all this time, I don't fall for the racist apologist trick of having to wait for them to prove it all the time. Life's too short, it's up to everyone to decide. But its hardly a risk, with some of the people's comments, if i am not dealing with a racist i am dealing with an idiot. So not talking to them is hardly a big loss either way.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Suarez is honest,Schmeicchel is a liar

    ReplyDelete
  169. You wouldn't know racism if it slapped you in the face - I am a black South African who went through the horrors of apartheid. What suarez "allegedly" said  (have you bothered to read the whole report, twat) hardly qualifies him as a "racist". Racism is by definition a belief in ones racial superiority (over another). It most often is accompanied by discrimination towards said other (legislated, physical, verbal, etc.). Here in SA, if you insulted my siter and impuned her dignity, it would be far more serious to me then calling me "black man" - which is what I am by the way... You need to get a grip. Suarez was stupid for saying something that is not controversial in his country (as has been adequately and indesputably proven) and he admitted as such. The fa should have found as such and given him a 2 - 4 match ban as legislated and clarified that he is not a "racist". How evra was allowed to view the video and give his verion and not Suarez, beggars belief! They say they believed his version over Suarez, even though he changed his story 3 times re the number of times he was called a "nigger" which he later agreed was incorrect ... the mind truely boggles. Suarez was stupid and should have got reprimanded. evra should have got reprimanded for his disgusting reference to Suarez's sister.

    ReplyDelete
  170. I sense a lot of paranoia in this thread.

We should be talking about what a good game it was, not deliberating over who didn't shake who's hand,
But lets get some facts straight.

    1. Patrice Evra still hasn't received a personal apology form Louis Suarez.

    2. Louis Suarez told KK and the Liverpool board that he would shake Evra's hand, KK admitted this.

    3. Cantona kicked a fan, not another player, the fan had directed an insult at his mother.

    4. Keane did not end Haalands career, he played for several years after the incident.

    5. Rio did not fail a drugs test, he missed it, he actually took a test a week later and was negative.

    6. After all this Louis Suarez has confirmed himself not only as a racist, but as a liar too.

    7. Like you and I Sir Alex is entitled to his opinion, he just has a lot  more people to express it to.

    8. The FA are weak, they proclaim they want to end racism in football but only hand out an eight match ban.

    9. Evra as far as I'm concerned is entitled to celebrate in front of his own fans, after all when Liverpool beat United in the cup, they practically did a lap of honour then, and no-one complained.

    10. Racism and hooliganism may have been alive in the seventies and eighties, but you can bet you arse that Matt and Shanks would have dealt with this situation better, football doesn't need to rediscover it's roots, it need's to rediscover it's morals.

    graham is admin @ www.manutdreds.net

    ReplyDelete
  171. No he didn't. I'm pretty sure Haaland played in the subsequent game for city and his career was ended by a problem in his other knee. Lets not let facts get in the way though. Also people seem to be missing the point of Fergie's statement. I doubt he cared too much about the handshake it was more the lies Suarez told to his team mates, manager, PR team, chairman saying he would shake hands with Evra and put this to bed. Suarez chose, yet again, to show he has no remorse for the racist comment he made to Evra and this is why there was anger.
Also re: the article - United suspended and heavily fined Eric - Liverpool did not suspend or fine Suarez. United accepted Rio was wrong but appealed the punishment as a city player had committed the same offence and was given a small fine and no ban. Liverpool have questioned the integrety of the independent panel and have called Evra a liar while also rejecting the ban - Kenny said he should never have been banned. Keane was heavily fined for his tackle on Haaland and was never defended by United. Suarez has had t-shirts worn by the club in support of him approved by his manager. Its not so much Suarez saying what he said that has become the issue but Liverpool's and Suarez's reaction to it. Fergie probably did overreact in what he said but he was angry and has seen his players name dragged through the mud by Suarez and Liverpool for Evra's crime of being the victim of a racial slur

  172. ferguson is a old fool, why it take as serious matter

    ReplyDelete
  173. everyone going on about suarez this, suarez that. fergie didn,t see you kick schmeicel out of club when he abused ian wright, cantona kicked the palace fan, keane delibratly ended another players future, ferdinand conveniently missed a drugs test, rooney sleeping with old prostitutes, oh and giggs sleeping with his sister in law, think before you speak fergie and keep your nose out of other clubs players. ferdinand is nothing but a hypocrite anyhow because you can guarantee he is still good mates with john terry who insulted his own brother.

    ReplyDelete
  174. It was investigated by the police, just as Terry, and thus on the grounds of "beyond resonable doubt" and not the probability verdict given to Suarez. Schmeichel could just as easily have been found probable of racist comments had it been dealt with in the same manner as the Suarez case. I'm sure Wright would agree to that

    ReplyDelete
  175. FA will not investigate or ban Terry from PL matches until the court case is finished.

Not sure why anyone would fear Suarez as this season, his goalscoring has been rubbish, absolute rubbish, yet Carroll gets more grief than he does for lack of goalscoring (and he is English!)

    ReplyDelete
  176. 'easily have been found probable'

Such a naive statement to make. 1) Got any proof it wasn't done on the same logic used in the Suarez case?

    2) Even if probability principle was used in Schmeichel case, its unlikely to have led in a guilty charge. Because it was Wright's word against Schmeichel's as well as there were no witnesses (i.e. like Comolli, Kuyt, etc), whereas in Suarez case it wasn't as Suarez confessed as well as contradictory witness statements of Kuyt/Comolli.

Schmeichel would have been found not guilty as there was no confession or evidence/witness.

    ReplyDelete
  177.  I don't recall both clubs (mancs and arsenal) saying there was peace now after that incident and that a handshake would be fulfilled than a player breaking the peace/ making the handshake statement look silly, like Suarez did.
Hence, Schmeichel case has no relevance to Ferguson's comment about the Suarez handshake.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Terry didn't get banned as it's not a issue with the FA, it's with the CPS so the FA can't do anything.  If he's found guilty then he'll be going down, missing more than 8 matches with it!

    ReplyDelete
  179. The FA investigated the Schmeichel-Wright case and found there was no case to be answered. So no proof at all that he racially abused Ian Wright. Whereas Suarez basically confessed to using a potentially racist word in a confrontation with Evra.

Did any of those examples you gave have statements by both clubs saying that a the incident is over, we should move on and that they shall shake hands, than one of their players refused to shake their hand in the game? No. Dalglish and Ferguson both said Suarez and Evra would shake hands, Suarez didn't and made KK and the club look silly, hence Ferguson comment, although it was over the top.

    ReplyDelete
  180. 1. If you bothered to read the "115 page report"(massive font and double spacing etc. made it bigger than it actually was. More like 77 pages), you would see that both the FA and Evra said in their statements that Suarez IS NOT a racist. (You don't need to be a racist to make a racial remark). So, to those of you calling him and the club/manager etc a racist for backing him, means that your statement in labelling those I've mentioned is wholly inaccurate.

    2. There is a reason why Suarez was backed. No Evidence, No witnesses and a flawed report. The papers only picked up on the reasons WHY they found him guilty based on "Probability". They never questioned the report or looked for flaws, so it seems that to everyone who can't be bothered to read the report that it was water tight with no reason to argue against it. Read these:
    http://tomkinstimes.com/2012/01/all-spanish-speakers-are-racist/

    http://newsframes.wordpress.com/2012/01/06/media-on-racism-churnalism/

    3. If it was such a serious case as a Racism one, then why did they base on the fact the 3 man panel can see you as 51% guilty? With a percentage swing of 1% that can mean your dignity and reputation can be forever tarnished based on NO evidence and No witnesses. Surely it should be a system based on finding someone 100% guilty/not guilty?

    4. http://newspano.com/news/police-seize-united-fanzine-after-kkk-suarez-mask-is-printed-ahead-of-showdown : Did Suarez's actions not to shake Evra's hand really elevate the situation that much more?

    5. Anyway talking about handshakes, what about Scholes not shaking Vieira's hand? Or Ferguson not shaking hands after a game (can't remember who it was against)

    6. Those talking about cheating and diving, how often as he been booked for Diving? Compare that to Gareth Bale. It doesn't matter how many times you dive, if you've dived at any time to gain an advantage, then you are a diver. That means 90% of British players too who have takes a tumble every now and again (Rooney, Gerrard etc).

    7. Anyone mentioned biting? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzXBSvngRR0

    8. There have been occasions when all managers make a fool of themselves. Ferguson did with his comments after the game (Everyone knows what some of his players have been up to in the past) And FYI he never mentioned the Suarez-Evra outcome as to why he is a disgrace. Just that he never shook hands.

    ReplyDelete

  182. Meaningless refers to a pointless exercise of pre match hand shake!!! What does it prove, players tap each other on the hand and then go out and should be kicking lumps out of each other!!! Far more respect in shaking your opponents hand after the game and congratulating on result / performance and then forgetting the game!!! Don't know for certain but I am gathering not many UTD players shook LFC players hands after that game and I bet Evra did not shake any players hands as he was too busy lording the applause!!! He will get his comuppance one day for all the controversies he brings to our game.
As for DISGRACE, never heard fergie criticising his behaviour with France in South Africa, but then makes him Club Captain!!! typical double standards at UTD and the FA(Perfect match them organisations)

  184. In  reference to incidents by united players, no of them were told beforehand not to do it, ie don't kick a fan, don't kick Alfie Hangalaand, point is there was a agreement between both clubs to shake hands to avoid any hostility spilling over to the fans and deliberately lied to his manager and disgraced his club in doing so.

    http://www.cbc.ca/sports/soccer/fifaworldcup/france/story/2010/06/25/sp-france-evra.html

Patrice Evra, who was dropped as France captain during the World Cup, acknowledged the squad's walkout from a training session at the tournament was a fiasco and apologized on behalf of the players.

..........  Evra said the players wanted to show solidarity with striker Nicolas Anelka, who was sent home from South Africa after insulting the coach in a profanity-laced tirade reported by French media and later worldwide.
"In such conditions, sometimes you can make clumsy gestures out of love," Evra said of the practice walkout on Sunday, adding it was a "group decision."

  194. Oh my god, how many people have to tell your desperate backside that it is not the same thing at all. Where was the Kuyt/Comolli equivalent in the Schmeichel case? Secondly, doesn't matter if he didn't know it was racist or not as to the panel, it was potentially racist comment. Anyway, He had already told Kuyt/Comolli who surely would have told him that it was potentially a racist word in this country. They all (Kuyt, Comolli and Suarez) went on to contradict each other in the investigation and make Suarez look like an idiot who made a racist comment. There is no equivalent of this in the Schmeichel case. Yet again, its irrelevant.

    ReplyDelete
  195. So what if Schmeichel was to be used by the FA for the anti-racism campaign? As far as they were concerned, he wasn't a racist as deemed by the investigation they carried out.

Blatter comment is just silly by you. Blatter implied/said that all it takes is a handshake, whereas in this case people have investigated, banned and than said a handshake was maybe needed to draw a line underneath it. So puh-leez don't twist Blatter's comment to suit your Suarez agenda here, as its not the same thing as Blatter didn't say the racist incident between players should be investigated and if needed, banned whilst making that comment about a handshake.

I think you need to work on your perception of what is relevant and irrelevant.
