£14m Liverpool playmaker target responds to transfer speculation...

Reputed Liverpool target Lazar Markovic has poured cold water on speculation that he will leave Partizan Belgrade this summer and move to the Premier League.

Rumours persist that Liverpool and Chelsea are interested in signing the £14m-rated playmaker, but when asked recently about the rumours, both Avram Grant - Markovic's manager - and the player himself dismissed the possibility of move.

When asked about rumours of a move to England, Former Chelsea manager Grant told Blic:

"It is nonsense. There is nothing out of it. There are no such offers"

Markovic has admitted in the past that he wants to move to the Premier League, which he describes as 'the best league in the world', but as he told Alo Sport yesterday, that is not going to happen for at least three years. He said:

"I'm not interested in what is written about me in press. I will only be 18 in March and my plan is to stay at Partizan for the next three years until I'm 21 years old.

"For now I just want to enjoy my football, play without any extra pressure. Of course, it is my dream to play in one of the biggest leagues in Europe, but we will see what will happen in the next few years. I'm in no hurry.

Liveprool shouldn't hold out any hope of signing Markovic in three years though; he is a Chelsea fan, and has his heart set on a move to Stamford Bridge, as he told Metro recently:

"I really hope I can go to Chelsea, it's my dream. I'm told there were 20 scouts from all over Europe in the VIP box when we beat Red Star, but Chelsea is the place I want to play.

"I had all the pictures of the team on my wall at home back to when they had Gianfranco Zola. And any time they are on TV I try to watch them. For me Chelsea are the best".

Chelsea the best? Not at the moment! Plus, a lot of things can change in three years; Roman Abramovich may have tired of his little project by then, and the Blues may be flailing in mid-table mediocrity.

Ah, we can dream...

  1. The that's it.
Don't even entertain a notion of signing a player that's a fan of a rival team. Especially cause he has gone on record saying he only wants to play for Chelsea. We only want players that wants to play for us, nothing else.
