Victor Moses's AGENT confirms: "We've had talks but there's nothing in writing..."

Rumours have been swirling around today about Wigan Athletic attacker Victor Moses, and Liverpool are (predictably) one of the usual suspects drawn into the dubious speculation. Earlier today, the player's Agent provided an update on a potential transfer away from the DW Stadium.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Moses' Agent Tony Finnigan confirmed:

"My phone goes all the time. Victor's got his admirers out there.

"He is obviously on the radar of other clubs, he is a young player in the Premier League playing really well.

"We have had talks, discussions, but there has been nothing in writing.

"He is one of the most exciting young talents in the country, but he is contracted to Wigan and is very happy, and until he is told otherwise, he will remain committed to the club."

I sincerely doubt that Liverpool have ever been interested in Moses, but if the speculation is true, you'd seriously have to question the sanity of Dalglish and Comolli.

The last thing Liverpool need is yet another non-scoring attacker. This season, Moses has scraped together two goals and no assists in 20 games, which is hardly inspiring.

Liverpool need proven goalscorers who can come into the team and do the job NOW, and Moses is not that player (IMO).

  1. Liverpool were linked with Moses under Rafas time when he was still at Crystal Palace and was heavily rumoured to be coming to Anfield, but in the end it was Wigan the only PL club to make a bid for him.

  2. Liverpool are behind a BLACK player after Suarez saga. And rightly so. We don't want to be portrayed as racists.

  3. YES lets get a black player.....but NOT Moses. Please nooooo if this is true its the final nail in the coffin.

  4. Wouldn't trust Kenny with another penny until he makes it work this this bunch or at the very least raises his own finance through sales.  If Victor Moses is signed im going to call it a day ala Jamie when Hodgson was sacked.  We cannot keep throwing money at our Kenny shaped bonfire as though he is the greek or Irish economies.

Could Mathew Etherington have done an equal or better job than Downing at £2million?  Could Grant Hoult have done an equal or better job than Carroll.  You bet your arse they could.

  5. Totally agree, Burt. It seems insane to be talking about more attacking options being needed after spending over 110m in the last year.  I would swap Hetherington and Hoult for Downing and Carroll right now, without hesitation.

  6. that comment doesn't sit right with me.  If we didn't want to look like we supported racism maybe the Tshirt thing should have stayed as an idea locked firmly in the nether regions of someones mind.

  7. Again..see above

  8. Easy to say they could but the problem is that the expectation at Liverpool, Man U etc is huge. The spotlight is on players all the time and often good players can't deal with it.

  10. Yes, sorry.  I forgot that fawning, unquestioning blind faith is what being a fan is all about.  My bad.

  11. We should raid Juventus for Elia and Krasic get them on loan to start with neither are playing and I am sure they would jump at the chance especially Elia who wanted to come to the Premier League in the first place.
Moses looks a good player but we need more quality we should of brought him when he left Palace.

  12. I have just realised that for all the improvement that has been talked about after spending over £110mln, we are nowhere near as improved as many people seem to think. Comparing the table as at 5 January 2011 and 2012 where 20 games had been played paints a different picture.
in 2012, we have won 2 more games, drawn 3 more games but lost 5 less games which is somewhat a tentative improvement though we could do with converting those draws to wins.
The stark reality though is after spending all that money on attacking talent, we have score exactly 24 goals, same as in January 2011 though our defence has been meaner in conceding 9 less goals after letting in 18 as opposed to 27 last January. Quite funny that we spent only £7mln on a defender who is not playing but its the area that has improved and carried us to where we are now. Coincidentally our strongest defensive run this season has been when Carragher is out of the first 11  but the injury prone Agger and much derided so called defensive weak Johnson have played for a sustained run.
Lucas has also played a massive role and we can see the nervousness of our midfield now that he is out injured especially when Charlie Adam does his customary clumsy  tackle from behind when he is beaten for pace that will lead to more dismissals given he has done this every match I have watched him play and it was the for the same tackle that he got his red card earlier this season.

  13. Err...What Jamie said.  Far too many big words for a anti 'true supporter' simpleton like me to understand but I think I agree.

Dconroy it isn't my money, but neither was the banks who have escorted us through the door of recession.  Now.. Pretty please is it ok for someone to look at our club (and country) and foresee the possible shortcomings in our ridiculous policies?

  14. It is impossible judging by Downings return of 0 goals 0 assists for Etherington to do any worse.  It is also pretty impossible for Hoult to be any less effective than Carroll with his 1 in 11 stat coupled with some of the worst displays I've have seen from a center forward since Morientes and Georgias Samaras' 1st season at City.

  15. on the whole liverpool have played good football this year. i have been to many games both home and away and we are a better team than last year. Don't get me wrong, I remember posting on here after getting stuck in traffic on the way home from the wigan game. Iwas their to watch downing be a lazy b*****d all game. If we look individually we have adam who is up and down, henderson still not fully confident, downing lazy, lucas out, gerrard just returning, surez out and not scoring, carroll not confident and not scoring. This may all sound bad but we are still only 3 points off the top 4!! I agree with most that we should have seen a better return from our signings individually but collectivelly they do play good football. They have played most teams off the park, if we can start scoring and individuals start to rectify their failings then we should start to climb the table. At the moment the club is going in the right direction, if we can start scoring more then we will be a very hard team to beat. at the moment we have only draw so many due to the end product. our defence is excellent, our build up play, possesion, pressing and motivation and ability as a team is thier for all to see, the only crucial thing lacking is a goal scorer. we defend surez and look on him as a quaility attacker but he lacks goals and this is something we need. if we do get darren bent then i am confident that he will get goals as he is proven over many seasons.

  16. No, the T-shirt thing was an affirmation by the squad that Suarez is not a racist, something that both the FA and Evra have explicitly stated but that the media is deliberately trying to portray otherwise.

  17. you do realise Suarez scored 54 goals or so in his last full season for Ajax, and how many times has he hit the post or bar so far this season, he has been dreadfully unlucky, and as for downing, yes he has been dissapointing, but if that shot had gone if where he ran past 4 players and smashed against the crossbar you would all be saying something completely different. Each player is different in terms of there own confidence, just need to get behind the team and manager and stop complaining!!

  19. It is our money. As a fan, you go to games, buy merchandise, watch the game on TV, etc. You pay for all these things which in turn goes to the club; who then spend it.

So to say it isn't your money is simply incorrect. Only City and Chelsea fans (in the PL) can say its not their money.
