POLL: Will Suarez still be a Liverpool player at the start of next season...?

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is currently serving an 8 match ban, and given the events of the last few weeks, the player will inevitably be under intense pressure and increased media scrutiny when he returns. The FA has basically ensured that Suarez will stigmatised as a racist for the rest of career, and opposing fans will definitely capitalise on that. Will this be too much for the Uruguayan to bear? Will he be forced out of Liverpool and into the arms of an array of willing suitors?

Predictably, the opportunistic press have jumped all over the Suarez story, and it was only a matter of time before 'reports' started coming in about how rival clubs are apparently waiting to pounce.

The speculation is probably the usual BS, but its still an interesting question nonetheless: Do you think that Suarez will still be at Anfield in August 2012, or will he be turning out for some other club?

I personally think he'll leave in the Summer, but not as a result of being forced out over the racism row. As Kenny said recently, I think he's strong enough to deal with it, but if Liverpool fail to make the Champions League again, which is a distinct possibility, that could be the breaking point.

I'm sure Suarez signed last January thinking/hoping that Liverpool would make it into the Champions League this season, but that didn't happen. Another season without prestigious European football and he'll be gone (IMO).

  1. Poor Suarez, does not play because of defective Negro

  2. If Chelsea think they can cope with having racist captain for their team, just swap Suarez for Torres and we'll both be happy. A non-problematic striker who breaks scoring records is just what we need.

  5. Don't I think so. This race row might actually be the kind of thing that will  keep him in Liverpool than anything else, for the kind of support and willingness of players and supporters and not to forget Kenny, to make feel him feel as comfortable as possible. He'll stay, for a while, and when he leaves, it'll be some club in spain for sure and definitely not Citeh or Chelsea.

  6. Shouldn't we be more worried about this Piara Powar man from Football Against Racism in Europe (FARE) who seems to be on a one mission now to crush Anfield spirt and football in general.
The head of European football's anti-racism group believes Liverpool's reaction to the Luis Suárez affair has whipped up "a tribal fervour" at Anfield.
This man doesn't like the tribal side of football in any team and has used the tribal word in the past what does he think of todays game in Manchester?

  8. Suarez has a strong character, I doubt anything would change for him if he had to go to another club. He will still be looked at as a racist thanks to the FA.

The only thing for him to do now is come back with a vengeance after his ban and set his sights on winning trophies with LFC. I reckon he will still be at Anfield next season.

He could have gone to any club before he signed for us. There must be a reason why he chose LFC even if we were not taking part in the CL. He is destined to become another great legend at this club and he knows it.

  9. Is his quality on the pitch more valuable than our reputation off it? I'm beginning to think the lad is simply more trouble than he's worth. He's already banned for a quarter of the season. He was serving a 7 game ban when we bought him. He's brought the entire club into disrepute with the whole Evra episode. This club has been standing proudly since 1892. I've never seen it's name tarnished as much as it has been since the lad joined.  Quality player but he just carries far too much baggage, particularly when you've a global reputation as lofty as ours.

  10. Kevin you are talking BS. He had no bad reputation before the FA decided he was a racist. I'm from Uruguay, and here we were Liverpool fans because of Suarez till now. Now I'm want him to leave, because England is full of haters and envy. Spain will welcome Suarez.

  11. To be fair Kev, can I call ya Kev? It's not a quarter of a season, it's two FA Cup games, and 2 League Cups and 4 league games. As for the reputation, it was one incident at the end of the day. His previous isn't great, but sometimes you take the rough with the smooth. United kept Cantona an the rest is history.

    why did luis bite someone??
get to grips with the facts.
he is targeted and has been used as a scape goat.
your full of it. you obviously dont know the history of the club.

  15. Jaimie, you keep flogging the wrong horse, and you're wrong again here. One would have though that, you would have learned from your past forcast's, but some people never learn!.

  16. Want him to stay but when Barcelona want him he will want to go, he fits their system and style of football.

They will need to replace Villa on the left and then an all south american attack of Suarez, Messi and Sanchez is likeley

Sad but true, only way is to convince him through instant success but I cannot see anything but domestic cup success in the next few years.

  17. The thing is though, an I may be a bit naive here, but he signed a contract with us knowing we where up against it to get in the top four places in the first season. If his deal is for four years, then surely we have four years to do it. I actually think he will be loyal and reward te support the club, fans, players an manager have given him. I think he'll be thicker skinned then we give him credit for. Players have done worse and came back, look at Lee Hughes!!!!

  18. Liverpool have backed Suarez to the hilt, so he has to feel at home

I feel that he can cope with all the abuse, if he gets too much it could lead to a crackdown on such crowd behaviour as suggested by Neil Warnock

I wouldn't worry about vague "reports" linking him elsewhere

He will leave someday I guess, and we will replace him.......

  19. i guess you can;t comment on black players lol...unos viscochitos unos mates y enseguida volvemos...come the summer and luisito is gone.

  20. oh i think with kenny if he stays and the new owners lpc will succeed, luis would have loved to be a part of this team, but you never know maybe the fa and alex will start chairing for luis lol. and he will stay.

  22. England FA are all idiot, how can two players change words with each other and only one has been charge and also Luis Suarez is not from UK and doesn't know UK rules concern in football.....in Uruguay negro is word used all the time, you must to think you people so called  England FA

    ReplyDelete
  23. back home IFyou know the negro or negito you can say it but if you don't punches will be thoroughgoing but at the same time you people say this as if we are contaminated with black people...

  24. which people at all so called England FA?who are they?i think they are really out of they mind foolish people

  25. Piara Powar is making unjustifiable comments based on misinformation and a superficial analysis of the situation. He is a liability to the battle against racism.

  26. No sports lawyers that support LFC or highly profile lawyers of any kinda, has come out and said anything about how this whole incident between Suarez and Evra.  If there is 1 i think about the English system, it's that they are very fair about how they approach and define things.  So my question is, when and how  some of these people are going to step up to the plate and support a player and association...i tend to do what Kenny does and that's ignore powar.

    ReplyDelete
  27. In fact, isn't it obvious that this is a cheap opportunity for Mr. Powar to gain publicity at the expense of the truth, Luis Suarez, Liverpool and - along the way - the real fight against racism? Very unedifying and opportunistic of someone who is supposed to stand up for racial equality AND dignity ...

  29. No one takes any notice of him in Europe, never heard of him or his group in this country do you think he would get away with talking to Real or Baraca like has to us with his threats and taunts!

  30. Carlos, I think it is fair to say that Luis has a fiery temperament, which he needs to learn to control for his own sake and that of his club.

On the other hand, I am convinced that Suarez is no racist and believe him when he says that he intended no racial slur on Evra (in fact, I would argue that Evra was the one who was trying to work up Luis with his intentionally abusive language).

Most importantly, as you can hear at matches and read on fan websites, Liverpool fans adore Luis and recognise him for the honest, hard-working and talented player that he is. You will find few Liverpool fans who believe that Luis is a racist or that he intended to racially abuse Evra. Ajax fans adored Luis Suarez and showed it (see his goodbye celebrations at Ajax http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGffhRVhC-Q) - and Liverpool fans love Luis just as much if not more.

  31. Barnes interview worth watching: http://news.sky.com/home/video/health/video/16144726

If Barnes' positive, in-depth, and nuanced thinking were only embraced by most people, Suarez would not be getting any stick from opposing fans and the chances of his staying with us will be a bit higher :)

That said and in view of the coming clash with ManU I hope Evra does not get any abuse from our fans.

  32. roy keane had a fiery temper, which made him the player he was and others a like.
roy keane also ended someones carrier, and i dont think he came in for half as much stick as suarez has.
i like your post good one

  33. think your right, hes young enough to see out his contract, then he could hopefully sign another one, or sign 4 years at a top spanish club and still be class

  34. its in the name........give some men power and see wat happens, jobs worth anti-liverpool

    ReplyDelete
  35. maybe its a set up?? so the fa can ban liverpool when they give evra some home truths??lol...........cant wait

    ReplyDelete
  36. I repeat, Suarez is not going anywhere! Real Madrid can take him away for more tha 90 mil. pounds,

    ReplyDelete
  37. i dont think suarez will leave because of evra the fa or not being in the champ league. He will leave because some club will come in with a heep of cash and just like most players they will jump ship.

    ReplyDelete
  38. so you believe suarez when he says something was said. But dont believe evra.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Very good point here! Suarez & Evra had a bit of a spat, they called each other names with reference to each other's ethnicity and one of them took a strop. This, folks, is what happened. I spent 6 years in the Army being called all sorts about my Scottish nationality - Porridge Wog, Sweaty Sock, Jock Cunt etc, I've worked in Africa and been called all sorts by locals because I am white. Did I go crying about it? No, did I fuck, I manned up and proved myself better than the imbeciles who were, obviously, idiots.
Suarez has character, he has balls and he's going to be at our club until THE CLUB decide they either don't want him anymore, need money from a transfer (not likely) or he gets too old and retires.

As for the Roy Keane/Alf Inge Haland affair, to me, that's a whoel lot worse than what Suarez said will ever be -HE ENDED THE GUY'S CAREER FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!

  40. he can you bracket him with Terry ? I think you need to find another club friend

    ReplyDelete
  41. You're right ,Powar is a no mark and LFC  or in particular the clubs owners should warn him about his language

    ReplyDelete
  42. why should we believe Evra ??? he has a little bit of history in being less than honest

    ReplyDelete
  43. If he beat it from a ragged arsed hypocritical country who could blame him ? My own view is that it has strengthened the bond between the player and the clubs true support and he will stay.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Why don't you call yourself Mufc-mufc and be honest? go and treat yourself to that cheap Aon shirt you always wanted

  45. This is a brilliant article showing the FA's bias and negating to showcase the actuall happenings between Suarez and Evra- http://newsframes.wordpress.com/2012/01/06/media-on-racism-churnalism/

  47. That's the way to do it.  In my first job in the US my boss (Irish) consistently called me "f... Puerto Rican, my response was "I'm not Puerto Rican,  I'm Uruguayan.  Nothing else, no crying to union or management.  The day I left he shook my hand and said it had been an honer to have me working for him.

I personally don't like cry babies, it says a lot about a person's character while dealing with adversity.  Who wants someone who'll cry fighting next to you?

Evra betrayed his coach while in the world cup, it is a matter of time before he does the same to Ferguson.  The man has no integrity by his own admission.

In terms of law, he is in the same brackets at the moment mate.
And regarding the club: mentally, Torres is far closer to the principles of Liverpool Football Club than Suarez.

  49. they both are less than honest thats the point

  50. its a joke mate and a real fan will run the club down and give praise when needed.Which is missing on most lfc sites
