Midfield Starlet: "Liverpool are talking with my agent right now..."

Ghana youth midfielder Mumuni Abubakar is currently in the midst of a two-week trial at Liverpool, but will he make the grade? The player himself seems confident, which could mean a potential move to the Premier League is on the cards.

Speaking to Joy Sports, The 18-year old - who was voted 2010 Premier League Player of the Year by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana - enthused:

"They Liverpool] were impressed by my performances during training and the match that I played.

"The technical team like my style of play, so hopefully they will sign me.

"When you go to trials, they talk to your agent and not you the player.

"Liverpool is talking with my agent (Oliver Arthur) now. They're impressed with my performances so we should get a favourable response."

Abubakar's agent Oliver Arthur told GHANAsoccernet.com:

"Mumuni is one of the emerging talents in the Glo Premier League and in the match against the senior side of Parma, he was highly impressive."

  1. We just keep on collecting kids without converting their potentials into reality. Hope I am proved wrong in 2-3 years.

I am gutted at news that New Castle bought Demba Cisse. Liverpool needs exactly the kind of player.

  2. What's wrong with our Academy players? Why do we need to sign youg talents at market price ?

  3. LFc is buying young natural talents but the liverpool way of training makes them lose their natural talent and creativty, Why has LFC been able to provide defensive players like kelly, spearing and others?

  4. As with the new signing of João Carlos Teixeira, we are proving that we are now scouting better players. Having comps like the next gen, are only going to enhance are squad. If you consider the players we have in our youth setup, coupled with the new players we are signing, means we won't have to pay fortunes for World class players due to having them already.
Makes sense if you ask me....

  5. SPOT ON .

  6. That will change. The man behind the academy at barca looks after youth development now. Fingers crossed we'll get the quality of youngsters coming through soon that barca are consistently producing.

  7. Good luck to the lad, if he is the next Essien it is what we will need in the next year or two. Just because our first team is lacking, that is no reason to ignore the future. We have people at the club employed to look at both sides and any good youngsters we sign is a good thing.

  8.  Yes how many attacking talents have Man City, Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea produced in the last few years?
