Former QPR manager Neil Warnock and current QPR thug Joey Barton are involved in an ongoing war of words at the moment, with Barton yesterday labelling his former manager 'embarrassing'. Never one to shy away from controversy, Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson has now stuck his oar in given his view on the situation.
Barton was particularly scathing about Warnock on twitter recently:
"Lost his job and the guy is blaming everyone but himself! Embarrassing, time to look in the mirror mate".
"If I talked about Neil, he'd do well to get another job. Twitter cost him his job? I can think of a million other things."
Speaking on Ireland's Today FM last night, Lawro slammed the two of them, and had lots to say about Warnock in particular:
"They're both idiots.
"I saw most of that interview with Neil Warnock. He was saying that when he took over at QPR, he kept them up, then he got them promotion, as if to say he was the only manager who could've done that.
"He had lots of money, and he was under pressure as well. He did a really good job in the championship, no doubt about it, but from August to December in the Premier League, it was relegation form.
"He just can't get his team to score enough goals. He had exactly the same problems at Sheffield united, and blamed someone else.
"Neil Warnock is an absolutely outstanding Championship or lower league manager, but if you want the Premier League? No".
I was hoping that Lawro would go to town on Barton too, but, sadly, all we got was this:
"Joey barton, the so-called celebrity? where does he get the time to be tweeting all the time? I really seriously don't get it".
What's not to get? Barton is a graceless, unprofessional thug, end of story. It's totally out of order to slag off a former manager in public like that.
Can you imagine a neanderthal like Barton at Liverpool? *shudder*
It's not so far-fetched; Barton was heavily linked with the club soon after Kenny Dalglish took over at Anfield, but thankfully, it didn't happen.

Well said Lawro, they are both idiots and brought shame to the EPL and the Fa is the biggest clown. Welcome to the circus!
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Totally unprofessional from Joey Barton. War nock brought him in as captain! I've never been Warnocks biggest fan but to be fair, money or no money he brought QPR up so today he's clueless is bang out of order, QPR went through, they had 9 managers since 2007 that couldn't bring them up so he mustn't be too clueless. I don't think he was given a fair crack at the whip, and they achieved some good results. They weren't in the bottom three an their losing streak could have been halted with funds for Warnock. As for tweeting, I don't blame Neil not being happy about that, the less said from
ReplyDeleteChairmen on twitter, the better.
Thank god he didn't come to Liverpool .IDIOT .
ReplyDeleteyou love tuning into TODAY FM every friday evening.
ReplyDeleteTake into consideration his complete backing of the Hillsborough petition, of which he played a massive part in getting 150,000 people to sign it - and he also did the same with Kevin Williams petition at the weekend...
ReplyDeleteGraceless, mindless thug and idiot maybe but did far far more for both these causes than some of our players and fans did.
How did he do it? Twitter.
We can't have it both way people.
As much as both are idiots, Barton was well received at Anfield due to him highlighting the Justice for the 96, so don't think we should be mud slinging at him, he might make stupid comments but he also is a man who has backed the clubs fight for justice.
ReplyDeleteLawrenson 2 years as a manager then bottles it sticking the knife into Warnock who has his faults in being a little bit to out spoken but isn't he one of the characters of English footballer? 7 promotions 3 of which got Notts County, Sheffield United and QPR into Division 1 or the Premier League done what many a manager has failed to do and deserves credit money or no money, he had to turn QPR around when he first joined.
ReplyDeleteBarton is just a younger version of Warnock really but with violence to back up his mouth and Twitter out bursts, Warnocks right how can a manager manage a team if players are complaining to the Chairman openly on Social Media sites can't see Barton being at QPR for long Hughes will see he his trouble maker who was undermining Warnock and get rid.
TThat's the problem with these foreign managers and players.they are just money grabbers who don't care and have loyalty for the clubs..we British would never behave like this..
ReplyDeleteWhy you no remember me. you no mention me any more. we not friends
ReplyDeleteSo Neil Warnock signed Barton from Newcastle where he was not wanted, and what he gets - an undermining and then a backstabbing after being sacked.
ReplyDeleteJoey did some good things for Liverpool community. But this behaviour is disgusting and shows what a disgraceful thug he really is... not that I didn't know that before.
warnock on sky reading out letters of support from qpr fans was one of the most graceless things i've seen.
ReplyDeleteWTF are you on about?
ReplyDeleteLawrenson is close to the mark. I agree you guys don't need Barton when you have your own thug in Bellamy
ReplyDeletesee you in another maybe 20 years lol.
ReplyDeletebarton is a prize prick and only you idiots wanted to employ him,
he will be slagging your club off in the summer when he does one!
Barton is a prick and Lawro is an ALMIGHTY PRICK Fuck Both teams
ReplyDeleteComparing Bellamy to Barton shows you really have not been paying attention much over the last few years, have you?
ReplyDeleteBellamy - run ins with management, a fight with a team mate and the odd unsavoury incident in public, runs a charitable cause for poverty stricken kids allowing them to play football and get an education.
Barton - countless assaults on opposing players, putting out a cigar in a youth player's eye, assualting a team mate in training, the odd unsavoury incident in public. Diving and feigning injury to get an opponent sent off in the first game of this season. An out and out thug. That's before we mention his brother, who he doesn't seem so keen to twitter about. He might have done some good things with the Hillborough campaign, but that does not make him any less of a thug.
Warnock is an idiot and should blame himself. For bringing a team that finished above Swansea and Norwich into the premiership and signing a thug and and out and out idiot to be his club captain.
It's called IRONY.
ReplyDeleteCue reply 'WTF is irony?'
you slag everyone and can't take it JK, people in glass houses, your a passive aggressive cry baby!
