LINE-UP vs Wolves: Gerrard out. Bellamy and Carroll start...

Kenny Dalglish has made five changes for the game against Wolves tonight.

FULL TEAM:

Reina, Enrique, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Spearing, Adam, Kuyt, Henderson, Bellamy, Carroll

SUBS: Doni, Carra, Coates, Kelly Aurelio, Shelvey, Downing

It looks like Steven Gerrard has been rested for this game, which is understandable after the heavy fixture list recently.

Kelly has dropped back to the bench, which is a shame considering his excellent performance against Man United.

If the formation is 4231, we might get to see Jordan Henderson playing centrally for a change, which will be good.

Possible formation:

---------------------------- Reina

Johnson --------- Skrtel ------------ Agger ------------ Enrique

-------------------- Spearing ----- Adam

Kuyt --------------------- Henderson ----------------- Bellamy

-------------------------- Carroll

  2. What's reason for 5 changes...one or two fair enough but 5 ....and no Gerrard ? is kk only interested in the cups.

  3. haha.. Calm down people.. KK is resting Gerrard seeing as he has played 3 full games (nearly) in a week.. Need him to be in good shape for Tottenham on the weekend!

5 changes is to rest people.. This is easily good enough to beat Wolves.. Creativity and 4 goal scorers... 2-0 to us! Y.N.W.A

  5. spurs and manure games will determine if we are going to take 4th place imo. not looking good, but hopefully some new faces will boost the squad. the bench doesn't look great, no maxi either. glad downing has been benched.

  6. this is poor selection from kenny...why drop Kelly, who put on a good show. Why not bring on Aurelio ...after all we spent good money on him. The problem of achieving 4th for LFC is not beating Man Utd, Citeh etc, but that we consistently drop points against the smaller teams...e.g. Bolton just the other day. If I was Kenny I would have gone with a sure team...start steve...lets get a couple of early goals and pull him off at half time. he has 4 days to rest till we meet spurs

  18. I am waiting to hear what Mali341 has to say about this result.

Andy Carroll, the beast is starting to be unleased.

Charlie Adam, his haters hate him even more now :)

    Exactly the result we needed.

Let the negativity start. HA HA HA. Not tonight I am afraid...

  25. I have been a critic about Kuyt for a while and luckily I have not been the only one but finally he is scoring some goals again after quite some time. Let's hope he keeps it up. We need as many goals as we can get! He has worked his socks off for 5 years and still has not won anything with LFC. That might change this season and that is with our "mediocre overpriced British players".

    Gotta love it!!!

  26. we don't need Gerrard, we're a better team without him.  Hurts to say it but I'm afraid it's true.

  28. Don't wet your self...thinking about Charlie Adam....

As for the result...well done to kuyt..bellamy and spearing who were the real stars and give credit to Henderson as well.

  29. Sorry, am I missing something.

Who was provider to both the Kuyt and Carroll goals?

Mickey Mouse or maybe it was Goofy? Can't quite remember?

  30. Fairplay....but it was a gamble as the first 'alf showed. Glad to see Kuyt in form and Carroll on the score sheet!

  31. Just take charli's picture to bed and enjoy....get over it and go to sleep

  32. Did it without Downings so-called ASSISTS.......a much needed win for a while in the league, real test to come against spurs & manc!!! Happy for kuyt and carroll who have raised their game of late. Suarez to come and gerrard rested, confidence growing within the team.

  33. Despite being critical when the team underperformed, and especially about the new signings and their lack of flair (Suarez aside), I really enjoyed last night and the wins against the two Manchester teams.  There was a lot of genuinely flowing football in the second half against the Wolves, which really surprised me, given the quality of players on the pitch (I am no admirer to Caroll, Adam, Henderson, Kuyt).  Still, despite their obvious individual shortcomings, somehow between them they ticked all boxes last night, which is great if this could be taken to the next game.  Maybe Kenny has seen something which we cannot or maybe last night was an exception?

anyway, everyone is entitled to his choices and I would rather enjoy the moment when I can...

  34. Our new striker looks pretty good! Oh wait, we signed him last year...

  35. I thought Spearing was excellent last night.  Gave everyone else a platform to build on.  Some of his long pissing.....Ping! loved it.  Carroll escapes criticism once again, is he starting to believe like NEO? will he soon be stopping bullets just by thinking about it? probably not, but he did well last night and deserves credit as does Charlie Adam and Bellamy.   To put things in perspective though, Wolves are in the bottom 3 and judging by last nights showing deserve to be there.

  36. long pissing lol.....thats a different game surely........

  37. Yes, he heard about the programme about hompohobia in football and decided he wanted to be on the next one!! Spearing did do a good job though, his PASSING was good. It shows how important that role is to our system, the player in it does not have to be the best, but they need to understand it. Some teams can seemingly operate without it, Carrick barely does that job for Man Utd, Song gets well forward for Arsenal, but it is possibly the most important position on the field for us.

Can't believe how carried away people are getting. First half was solid, but could have gone either way. I thought Carroll did ok, although, to be fair, he looked to be improving during the Man Utd game. But our three goals were all poor, I'm afraid. First goal had shocking marking, the defender fell asleep, the next two goals should have been saved by the keeper and Bellamy should have been closed down in any case. The ease at which that Wolves side's head dropped suggests to me that McCarthy won't survive this time. Watching the two centre backs arguing is not a good sign either.

A decent result, of course, but they were there for the taking last night and we will play better than that many times and not win the game. We might not even score. Enrique was back to form last night, he had a great game.

  38. Adam unfortunately for you is going to be a Liverpool player for years to come and I doubt Kenny will be leaving at the end of the season so it is about time and I have repeated myself I don't know how many times TO GO FIND ANOTHER CLUB.

What exactly are your reasons for supporting LFC?

To see us lose I guess cause that is the only satisfaction you get out of it.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Lol....PASSING...PASSING...must get it right. :-)

The reason I think we need Spearo and Lucas so badly is because Adam, Gerrard and Hendo are to us What Ballack and Lampard were to Chelsea...completely tactically unaware and unable to play in what has become a specialist role requiring high levels of awareness, technique and discipline.  Makalele's replacement whether it be Mikel or Essien  has never been good enough in the mentioned departments to cope with the chaos that goes on in front of him hence Chelsea's woes and what would have been ours if Spearo hadn't returned.

Adam's piss (verb/noun?) for Carrolls goal was the best cross we have put in all season.  However your right all three goals had 'Mick McCarthy team' written all over them, after the 1st half I had already resigned myself to 0-0.

  40. I thought Adam did ok last night and it was a great cross, but he still can't tackle and is too slow, i think. Should come on in games when other teams tire, really. I'm amazed how some star names are so tactically inept, how difficult is it for someone to hold their position? I suppose it takes a bit more to know when to press the ball and when not to, but, hey, they only get all week to train and practice getting it right.

If McCarthy is not sacked before the next game, then one more performance like that will do for him.
