JOHN ALDRIDGE: No more excuses - Liverpool 'MUST' win at Bolton...

Liverpool legend John Aldridge has urged Liverpool to forget about the 'disappointing' result against Stoke last weekend and concentrate on getting a much-needed victory against Bolton today.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Aldo insisted that Liverpool must take three points against Bolton today:

"The Stoke game was so disappointing for everybody concerned but we must move on now.

"Liverpool have some big games coming up, starting with a trip to Bolton Wanderers this weekend, which is really a must-win encounter.

"If Liverpool are serious about getting back into the top four this season then they have to be taking three points at the Reebok Stadium against Owen Coyle’s relegation strugglers.

"is a really pivotal period in the League for the Reds and after the trip to Bolton we face Wolverhampton, Tottenham and then Manchester United".

Hard to disagree with any of that. Bolton are 19th in the league, with the worst goals conceded record in the league, so I'm sure Liverpool will win, and win well.

It is, however, a little disconcerting to note that Bolton have scored more league goals than Liverpool this season... (!)

  4. Deja-vu? It is becoming more and more like Hodgson's tenure last early season when every game was a "must win" one! and we are supposed to have advanced?

  8. They will drop points during the rest of this season, all teams will.

  9. Conceding a goal after only 3 minutes played does not exactly fill me with hopeful expectation. Liverpool absolutely MUST win this game.

  10. If we lose today, I think the owners will have to start thinking of giving Kenny an ultimatum, and possibly looking to get someone like "Rafa" to steer us through the rest of the season. I was one of those who wanted Rafa out, but right now I am repentant and miss the old gaffer, compared to the dross Kenny is dishing out every week!!! We are 2-1 down at half time against tail-enders...but making Bolton look like Barcelona with our huffing and puffing! Our chaps look so jaded and a bit championship-like. Poor ball control, atrocious defending, and our attacking doesn't look half as razor sharp as the top 4 teams. Dalglish has to buy before the window closes. But I terrified at the thought, given how he has shown how poor he is in choosing on the market. Gerrard is no longer the player he was...speed is lacking, and he is prone to making many mistakes these days. He has become very petulant of late...lots of charging in and poor tackles. I have always criticized Kenny for leaving Maxi on the bench...but Maxi has been anonymous in the game so far. Well done Bellamy...who really has the heart of a lion!

  17. I wish all the ex LFC players would give it a rest for a while. That might help. I cannot accept that the manager feels that some players were not up for it today, that is the manager and coaching staff's responsibility, to ensure the players are properly motivated. The usual lack of spark, but now we are not defensively solid, either. If we continue like this we will be looking over our shoulders at Stoke, rather than looking above us. We had a chance to close on Chelsea today, shocking.
