INJURY UPDATE: Kenny on Lucas, Agger and Spearing...

Ahead of this weekend's league game at Bolton, Kenny Dalglish has provided an injury update, and the news is very encouraging.

In his press conference earlier today, Kenny confirmed that Liverpool have no new injury worries:

"Everything's fine - we just need to have a look at Jay; see how he goes. Apart from that, I don't think there's anybody else we need to worry about"

Kenny also confirmed that Daniel Agger is fit again, but when asked about the nature of the injury, he refused to give an answer, which seemed strange. He said:

"It's ongoing. We just have to manage it"

Does this mean Agger suffered from a recurring injury? If so, then that's worrying. It can't be too bad though because Kenny confirmed that he's fit.

Kenny also provided an update on Lucas's rehabilitation:

"He's aright. He's coming back over here shortly so we'll see him when he's here. He's missing us already and wants to get back.

"We don't know what the date is yet [of his return to first team action], but there haven't been any problems yet".

  1. Do you think Agger is happy at Liverpool Jaimie?

  2. Who knows. I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't. A footballer's career is short. so one would rather not waste their time with constant mediocre league finishes almost every season that we have to put up with now. So it wouldn't surprise me, if he wanted to go to a club that is more capable and with bigger ambitions...and of course, better wages too. His reputation is fairly decent, so I'm sure would be a bigger team that would like him

  3. I agree with most of what your saying but I think he owes us a full season after all the wage he's picked up injured, and I also think that we won't have too many mediocre finishes. I'm confident Kenny and the team will come good.

  4. I give it the end of next season and if we still finish in a mediocre position, I think some players will start to question their futures as well as the club questioning them.

I don't really rate loyalty much these days sadly, when it comes to players. Money and ambition > loyalty is the way it is now.

  6. A couple of players in the LFC squad are really overrated compared to what they actually bring to the team. Agger, with all his injuries, is certainly one of them. If we could get a decent fee for him, and he is not happy, let him go, he's no good to us on the treatment table every other week. Reina is a good keeper but makes his fair share of mistakes and, for the price, I reckon we would find a keeper who was as effective but would cost us, in wages, a lot less. Krul at Newcastle would be one, the swansea keeper looks handy also.

  7. Gab, you do realise that a modern 'keeper has to be more than just a shot-stopper? Reina is a 'keeper/sweeper and also happens to be one of the finest passers/distributers of a ball in the game today. He is easily one of the top 3 or 4 Goalkeepers in Europe.
