Former Arsenal and West Ham midfielder Stewart Robson has slammed Andy Carroll's performances for Liverpool over the last year, claiming that the striker is not working hard enough on the field.
Robson was voted 'Player of the Year' for both Arsenal and West Ham during his playing days, and after watching the Man City game, he told ESPN:
"It doesn't matter whether Andy Carroll gets service or not - I've seen him play ten or fifteen times over the last year, and I've never seen him really dominate in the air.
"If you're as big as he is and balls are coming into the box, you've got to start winning them; you've got to start putting yourself around.
"He looks like like he's unfit, lethargic, and he's not working hard enough to win balls in the box.
"I've watched Kolo Toure many times for Arsenal, and if there's one aspect of his game where he struggles, it's coping with big players in the box, but he didn't have any problems against Carroll".
Ouch! Some strong criticism there, but is anything Robson said actually inaccurate?
A few weeks ago, Pepe Reina said that Carroll was Liverpool's 'worst trainer' because he 'doesn't like to run too many yards', which seems to suggest that he's not the fittest player at Anfield.

A valid point.
ReplyDeleteThe truth is coming out. What is King Kenny going to do about it?
ReplyDeleteWhen you buy shit, this is what you get.
ReplyDeleteThis guy is preaching to the converted! Anyone can see how Carroll simply swans around on the field. He need more than a sizeable kick up the..........
ReplyDeleteThe 'Scouting Team' should be dismissed!!!
ReplyDeleteMore to the point. What the hell has it got to do with Robson??? He was hardly great himself!!
ReplyDeleteandy carroll is a c*** - only a matter of time before he ends up in jail
ReplyDeleteHopeless player who will never make it at the clun. Anytime he starts the whole shape and attacking pattern of the team folds. Awful signing. a panic buy which has come back to haunt us
ReplyDeleteSo how many more people are going to take a stab at Carroll?
ReplyDeleteIt is becoming rather boring now.
Stan, I am sure you are the most perfect person in the world?
We still don't know about Carroll, yes he has struggled this season lets see what happens he signed a 5 year contract not 1 year contract.
ReplyDeleteHe does need to wake upto himself all these failed exfootballers coming out knocking him are boring and are just looking to make a name for
themselves. Stewart Who????
Only time will tell get off his back until he's had a decent run of games. Plenty of players in the past have proven themselves with a run of games.
ReplyDeleteStewart Robson might have been voted player of the year but George Graham soon bombed him out also he struggled with injuries bit like our Carroll, should look at his own career like Stan before sticking the boot into players when they are down!
ReplyDeleteHow true.
ReplyDeleteexactly. im sure this was dug up anyway to make a point.
ReplyDeletejj if Carroll was any sort of a player he would of shown something by now.His not the player we need at LFC,his shit.
ReplyDeleteso the so called liverpool fans should get together with the so called man utd fans, as you seem to have the same thing in common; spending too much time on football manager. right; the real world is where you buy a ticket and actually attend a game instead of looking at profiles and internet sites. How many people have seen the liverpool squad in person?? Either warming up or playing?; and how many have seen them in real action at home or away?????? well I have misssed 3 games all season, including this fa cup tie were I have not been present to watch the display with my own eyes (which i have come on here instead woohoo). To hear the crowd and to understand that we are playing great football this season and it has been good to watch. You so called liverpool fans ( or distant internet, couch watching, statistic watching, idoits!! waiting for us to fail; so you can write your daily blogg on how bad we are and how we have miss spent our money. my question is this. do you go to the game?, do you have to spend vast amounts in petrol and parking fees and tickets to go the game, or are you a fuckin website supporter, who spends nothing on LFC but demands everything????? ). I spend through the nose and i am happy, whats your contribution???? Please, buy either a season ticket, fan card, away ticket or whatever and mix it. i assume alot of the fans dont even know how to sing the songs, as i have seen this when standing in the stands on away and especially home games. People can coment but for the last 10 seasons i have spent the best part pf 20 000 quid watching liverpool. if your a spinles twat who watches my p2p and comments how bad liverpool are and you dont even have a replica kit on when you comment, then how do you define yourself as a liverpool fan, you are a knock off nigel, a person who will comment on liverpools fortunes and failings and not even contributing.
ReplyDeletestewart who ???? you tool !!!!!! ........... what's the matter , haven't you had any press lately ? get back in your corner , you were shite , it's early days lad !
ReplyDeleteHow many of the people that are rubbishing Carroll did the the same about Lucas, and look what he has become with guidance from the training staff. Carroll will do the same with time. And before all those Carroll haters bang on about the difference in transfer fees bid deal he didn't set the price NUFC did and we paid it... get off his back and show him support any player who pulls on our shirt deserves.. rememeber YNWA ... or is it YNWA unless you your having a dip in form and then we slag you off.. And as for Stewart Robson I can remember all the great Arsenal players..err Stewart who?
ReplyDeleteDzecko put himself about and battled with Skrtle. Carrol simply simply did not.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting that you have mentioned Dzeko, I seem to remember he was awful in his first season with City. Look at him now. Don't judge a player on half a season, especially one where he isn't being given enough game time to prove himself. He was on the pitch 3 minutes tonight and scored a fantastic goal, he just needs time.
ReplyDeleteWho the f..ck is Stewart Robson ???
ReplyDeleteI can tell, in five weeks, that Carroll will not make it in the Premiership let alone wait for five years.
ReplyDeleteWhy are fans of LFC so defensive, Carroll has been poor at your club regardless of his price tag, i'm a Newcastle fan and was gutted to see him leave as he was superb for us but he hasn't reached those heights for you be it fitness, team tactics, attitude, being at a club with high expectations or off field problems, whatever it is. The truth is he has been poor and Robson who is a pundit and football fan is only expressing an opinion like everyone else who watches the game.
ReplyDeleteEnough said on Andy Caroll, action please!
ReplyDeleteIt´s true that Carroll have not lived up to the expectations - yet. But we have to have faith in him and the rest of the squad. I hope and belive that he will come good and serve os well for many years to come.
ReplyDeleteI am actualy glad to hear that he is not running the extra mile in training. It explains his rather poor foorm. I bit surprising though that he is alowed to have that attitude.
But I am sure that the scouting team and KK knows a bit more about talent than the rest of us.
Who is Stewart Robson never heard of him.
ReplyDeleteI take it you know prison well your self
ReplyDeleteAgree! Too much money wasted on mid table players!
ReplyDeleteSuarez, Bellamy and Enrique are showing good signs but I really can't say much for the others! :(
Very true. Even against Blackburn he didn't win a first header against Samba till the end of the first half. Not good enough, and his ball control is atrocious. If he gets those two sorted out he can be a decent player. Even then, its still a maybe.
ReplyDeleteGlad Carroll manged to sling some of that shit back at you and the other shit lovers!!!!
ReplyDeleteHe is a ex pro football pundit you knobjockey so its his job to comment..... why not focus on his points instead of trying to ignore them u tool
ReplyDeleteeh Red4life Carroll has assaulted women.... thats far from perfect mate .... Think about it..I mean is that the kind of thing you do???? the lad is a sc*mbag....
ReplyDeleteSamba is not really easy to fight in the air...
ReplyDeleteBut yes, Carroll, must improve, still I wouldn't put 35 mil. burden on his back, we all know he was overpaid.
Look at the bright side, Suarez is now worth 3 times as much LFC payed, and Carroll is still at least 15 mil. player and will be worth close to that for the next 5 or 6 years, just because he is English and played in the high level.
You can not pick them all!
Think of it like this, LFC has young English player, called up to English squad and a task of developing him.
If LFC got him from NFC earlier for 5-8 mil. no one would be complaining much.
Him being over-payed is someone else's fault, not his. We must remember that when talking about Carroll.
