Craig BELLAMY: "No disrespect, but it was a bit disappointing..."

Craig Bellamy today scooped a well-deserved 'Player of the Month' award for December, and his goals his performances have been essential to Liverpool's improvement under Kenny Dalglish this season. However, ever the perfectionist, Bellamy is unhappy that the club failed to win one particular home game.

With four goals and two assists over the last month, Bellamy's impact for Liverpool has been superb, and in an interview with LFC TV, he praised the management and coaching staff for handling him in the right way:

"We've had a lot of games, so it's given me the opportunity to be involved in a lot of them.

"December is always a tricky month. I've got myself in good shape, and the management and coaching staff have been brilliant with me, and lucky enough for me, I've been able to have an impact".

Liverpool's home draw with bottom-club Blackburn was an obvious low-light for the team in Decemeber, and Bellamy acknowledged this:

"It's been a half-decent month for us football-wise if I'm being honest. What sticks out is the blackburn draw.

"Credit to Blackburn and no disrespect to them but, it was a bit disappointing because we did expect three points there, and we went out to try and get them but it wasn't the case".

Hopefully, we won't see any more home draws against eminently beatable opposition.

  3. Well put, always speaks the truth and never hides behind excuses like we are working hard in training and players are all confident and all that bollocks. Always puts in a good shift and plays with his heart, pity others dont show the same passion!! Has played less games than downing, cost us nothing and scored quite a few important goals for us!!! The harder u work, the better u will do, its not rocket science. Top dog Bellamy hope u can keep going for years to come!!!

  4. Think half term report would be could do better , hopefully will do with Bellers and Stevie setting great examples , Wembley would be nice TWICE if pos ,but top 4 a priority , wasn't pretty the other night 1st half good and job done , will take it , and don't think we have anything to fear in 2nd leg , think we've proved we can match them in the 3 games this season so come on reds lot push on starting tomorrow , great news about Steven Gerrard by the way Liverpool's greatest ever player , been watching reds since 64/65 Lawrence Lawler Byrne etc Kenny was best I'd seen , hey it's a close call . COME ON YOU REDS

  5. he and enrique=kennys only good summer signings. kenny does not deserve another year unless we get a CL spot.
downing to sunderland, carroll back to toon and adam to some mid table side within 2 years imo.

  6. you have to blame agger for giving away that corner too. It was cheap. He could have put it in row Z yet he tries to be too clever. Win, draw, lose as a team.

  8. You are a fool think back to this time last year --- going nowhere fast!
Kenny had just come in and I followed him to Manu for the cup
Beaten but came out thinking we played like a Liverpool team
Now we are closer to a Liverpool team than I've seen for the last 15 yrs
Press the play and attack --what more do you want

  9. I know what more I want! For the team to be able to pull our opponents out so we can have a more effective thrust!

I reckon Kenny has done a brilliant job so far, but it's hard not to get impatient, having seen the great leap from Hodgson's style to our current style and then all of a sudden, slowing down despite massive investment. We've acquired players who understand the game but have yet to understand the squad and the market had been spoilt for some of these signings because Suarez and Enrique have seemingly done so well.

Truth be told, we were only a proper leftback away from a decent team. It was inevitable that Enrique would look like a perfect fit. We never had a consistent proper leftback for a while. Riise was a midfielder, Insua took too long to track back, Dossena wasn't given enough chances, Aurelio was always injured, Warnock wasn't good enough, Konchesky didn't count as a footballer, so Enrique was always going to look like Roberto Carlos next to any of these guys.

As for Suarez, he may not be the goalscorer we needed and our boys have now scored 8 in 2 home games without him, but he has the kind of dedication every fan appreciates and the skill to thrill everytime he gets the ball. He is the new Maradonna, with a World Cup hand of God moment to boot. I dare say he hasn't totally clicked with the team yet, as it would be only our older players who are making the most of his presence. He is just so good that his actual effectiveness and contribution have been masked.

As such, it is actually quite unfair to use Suarez and Enrique as yardsticks to gauge our new signings, but this is what almost everyone, myself incuded, has done. It is hence no surprise that all our expectations had risen a tad unreasonably and alot of us are expecting more.

Realistically, it will be 2 more seasons before we start seeing the best of our current squad. Skrtel, Agger, Suarez, Adam, Lucas and Enrique will be in their primes. Kelly, Carroll, Henderson and Shelvey will be making more of an impact at that stage. Downing could be as effective as Bellamy and Maxi are now. I'm sure we can all see that, but maybe it's because we can see that and the football has improved, so we want a whole lot more. It's a normal human reaction.

  13. There are 3 outcomes for us
    1. Spend 500mm in man city fashion and buy a top 4 spot .
    2. Implement 3 year plan to get to top 4 ( took spurs a few seasons to build their way to where they are now).
    3. Fall into mid table obscurity

We are clearly in camp 2 . We are playing some good football , creating a lot of chances , and wecwill get to top 4 but need patience

1 is not going to happen

3 I don't even want to think about

  14. I don't understand people who are saying that we can not compete M.City because of the money. We spend to much money this year for transfers and what did we got out of it?
Mediocre Adam, Henderson who seams like lost on the pitch some times, Downing promising but didn't delivered yet, Carol?
To much money for the players that are not worth it, not even half of it.
Compare the amount spent with other clubs in the top of the table. We can not complain.
We have been patient for decade and half or more.
About the tactics, one squad with City away and we have done great and totally different squad with Stoke, you know the outcome. Its confusing a bit.
I am real angry and frustrated... no champions league... again and no title race by far. We are not competitive enough. Why? There is something else in the story not money and lack of founds  for sure.
I can not except that we are mediocre team and i can not be happy just winning some derby games.

  15. Liverpool should SACK KD for playing 5 defenders against a team that never attacked - disgraceful!
