Adeyemi incident: 7 EYEWITNESS reports from Liverpool fans at the game...

Merseyside Police have confirmed that they are currently investigating the alleged verbal abuse of Oldham's Tom Adeyemi at Anfield last night. Based on the comments of Latics captain Dean Furman - who described the incident as a 'disgrace' - it looks increasingly like Adeyemi may have been on the receiving end of racial abuse. Here are some eye-witness reports of the incident posted by fans (and visitors to this site) who were at the game.

These accounts were originally posted in the comments section of an article posted last night:

Adeyemi in tears after alleged racial abuse at Anfield:

ChuckyRed

"I was at the game. A few people have said that Suarezs song was sang after the 'alleged' racism, but it wasn't. Oldham fans below me on the Anfield lower sang 'your just a town full of racists' immediately after the game was stopped, we didn't know what had gone on but people putting an infuriated black man arguing with members of the kop would presume such a thing after this week.

"After they sang that, the crowd drowned them out with Suarez's song. So what? I really hope that the two lads in Suarez t-shirts didn't say anythin but I'm a bit worried. An can I say I've been going to Anfield now for the best part of ten years an can honestly hand on heart say I've never heard any racism".

Stu

"I was at the game last night, high in the centenery stand near the Kop end (near the incident), i wasnt aware of any racist chanting. When I saw the Oldham player gesticulating at the Kop and later holding his head down I thought (like those around me) that something had been thrown by a fan at him and hit him.

"The Luis Suarez song was sung by every fan around the ground in response to Oldham fans chanting (including myself)".

Gavin

"From where I was, it wasn't anyone in a Suarez t-shirt who was involved, and no-one was arrested. The three lads involved walked back to their car by mine at Goodison - and they even spoke to stewards afterwards and no action was taken by the stewards".

Dj

"I was at the back of the kop & heard nothing, but then we were busy singing in 304. I did see the flares lit by Oldham's fans when they scored. Oh and by the way we had been singing the Suarez song, along with every other song known to Liverpool fans from the start of the game. The Suarez song was sung many times throughout the game"

TomBom

"I was at the game and the player seemed very aggrieved at something that happened at the Kop end. Unfortunately, I could not hear anything from were I was, as the vitriol directed towards the Liverpool fans by the Oldham fans drowned out anything. The Kop sang Suarez's name after the Oldham fans sang that Liverpool was just a 'town full of racists' ".

Mam2Cat

"Just returned from the match after speaking to some fans who were in the Lower Kemlyn by the Kop. They said that Adeyemi reacted to a Liverpool fan who was sitting in the front row alongside some other Liverpool fans who were all singing the 'Just can't get enough' Suarez song. That's all I know. Don't know if it is true or not but that is what I have been told".

I'dDieForLfc

"I was there - two fans got arrested but I was a witness and they did not say anything racist and he was claiming that they threw a coin at him and he was crying because we all sang the luis Suarez song to him"

  1. Were Oldham losing when the player reacted?

  2. Look the way I see it is if anyone is guility of racist abuse then they should be arrested, questioned by the police and the file sent to the DPP. In addition Liverpool should issue a life ban to such individuals. However to read that Oldham fans were singing "you're just a town full of racists" is shocking considering the problems they've had there. And could someone please tell me where it is an offence to sing a song about one of your players?

  4. It is the actions of the brainless minority that is dragging our great clubs name through the mud . Lius SUarez made a mistake , the club could have handled it better . For the sake of LFC , can we please move on . We played well against Oldham , but all the headlines were negative ones , due to a handfull of idiots .

  5. Any witness statements from anyone other than Liverpool supporters ? Chucky red is lying as you can clearly hear them singing it on the you tube video and also the others say so too ??

  6. Seeing as Suarez was not on the pitch it seems an inflammatory thing to do ?

  7. You've been reading too many anti-Liverpool papers, and beleiving them?. Nough said

  8. Police said lastnight no arrests were made, 3 supporters got thrown out of the game but that was a totally unrelated incident.

Some fans were saying the word used was Mancc C**t and not Black. Others say it was Black, so don't no what was said but the players reaction said it all. There was a coin thrown aswell

  9. We were singing the Suarez song all night. The Oldham fans were singing that Liverpool was a town of racists, which clearly was aimed at us because of Suarez, so we sang the Suarez song in response to it. Then obviously at the same time the mindless idiotic bigoted person(s) spouted their nonsense.

  10. you'll be hard pressed to find eyewitnesses that weren't Liverpool fans seeing as Oldham fans were at the other end of a stadium full of 44000 people

  11. Grow up. Whatever scrap of higher ground the anti-racism campaigners got from the Suarez stitch-up is being completely undermined by comments like that.

Luis Suarez is a Liverpool player and we'll sing his name because we love him - not because we're supposedly a 'town full of racists'.

If we're honestly to believe that a bloke in the Kop started singing the Suarez chant and got everyone to join in just to wind up one Oldham player because of the colour of his skin, then the game of football truly is fucked as a spectator sport.

This is the PC equivalent of all those times you hear pundits moaning that "If that's a booking Jeff then God help us all..."

  12. I was sat in the kop and as stu says in his statement, i believe something was thrown from the kop. Have to say i did not see it, but the oldham player did pick something up and throw back into the kop. Then he started walking away (no problem). As he was walking away the ref came running towards him, i thought the ref was going to book him for throwing whatever into the crowd. It was then he started kicking off, cant say what if anything was said as i sit 2/3s of the way up the so not close enough.

  13. Stevie Heighway has been off the pitch the best part of 30 years and yet we still sing about him. Not to mention Luis Garcia whose song gets an airing every now and then.

    ReplyDelete
  14. fans sing songs about their players not to mention songs about opposition players. theres nothing wrong with that. They dont have to be on the pitch, they dont even have to be alive. RIP Gary.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I don't think there was anything thrown, and if there was that certainly was not the issue. It is clear that something had been said the lad, obviously I don't know if it was of racist nature or of another abusive nature. If it was an object it would have been picked up by a camera by now surely?

  16. Holt and the daily mirror have a campaign against lfc and kenny

    ReplyDelete
  17. The last line of the last comment in the article above really sums it up. " We all sang the Luis Suarez song TO him", why TO him, and why the Suarez song? As for a campaign against LFC every club in football think that someone is out to get'em, just listen to Wenger or any manager whose team is in the bottom half of any league table!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yea good point....Considering she is a United fan, and they often don't lack the imagination to sing songs longer than the name of the player

    ReplyDelete
  19. Firstly, if someone abused the Oldham lad they should be thrown out. I don't think any of us have a problem with that. But what we saw tonight is just the beginning of a new era. I hate to say it but the can of worms has truly been opened. History will prove that the FA truly botched the Suarez/Evra case by being uneven, inequitable, preferential, and naive. All this could have been diffused by a clean handling of the case where both players were admonished equally with offsetting bans. The puritanical media and it's reductive PC ethos has also made things a lot worse. You just can't arbitrarily scapegoat one player, one team, and act like racism only exists at Anfield. You can't conduct cases based on hearsay, probability, and allegation. You can't politically blackmail a club, player, manager through media defamation and discrimination. All these things cause backlash, tribalism, entrenchment, and racial profiling. When Liverpool capitulated to the pressure, and certainly after Suarez submitted an apology, the FA should have made a statement that the matter was closed, that Evra's slurs would be dealt with, and that any discrimination against Suarez (who by their own definition is not a racist) will not be tolerated. Their lack of leadership and moral equity has just exacerbated racial tensions around the game. The media should have been satisfied with its pound of flesh, it's immigrant scapegoat, and stopped beying for more blood. Former players and Alex Ferguson should have just kept quiet and let the situation diffuse instead of stoking the flames further. We now have a league where any player can be accused, convicted, and defamed just by allegation - and where teams can start using the race card to gain competitive advantage like diving. Every team in the country has a minority of idiot bigots for fans and all it takes is one moron to incite a fresh controversy.

  20. I hope these 35000 eye witness accounts stating nothing racist was said are credible.

  21. this just an opportunist tactic to cover up the fact he threw something into the crowd - probably remembered carra getting punished for similar

    ReplyDelete
  22. i too sang the suarez song and i was watching on the net - i didn't know what the fek was going on - i'm a scouser and proud of it - i've been abused many, many times because of it and i'm still breathing - we've been called thieves, pickpockets, hooligans, liars, scroungers - even of pissing on the dead at Hillsborough - without any action being taken on our behalf - have i ever gone crying to mummy about it? No ! I'm a man not a little girl - it's wrong i know but let's get this into some perspective - one man in 44,000 opens his big gob and there we are again - little boy throwing his dummy out and gutter press fanning the flames - are you really surprised it happened given the way the F.A. handled the whole LS situation - knee jerk reaction - should have handled it all properly in the first place and kept the politics out of it - we are annoyed because of the severety of the punishment and the way it was handled not that it didn't happen - get a life people - do you really think it doesn't happen in reverse? dream on !!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I was at anfield when they played newcastle we sung the suarez song a number of times he wasnt on the pitch that game either there wasnt a problem that night .

  24. just an opportunist trying to cover up the fact he threw something into the crowd - probably remembered carra gotting done for it some time ago

    ReplyDelete
  25. We should say thank you to Oldham! How the player and club have conducted themselves in not running to the TV cameras making accusation about what happened should be appauled. Even when asked they didn't go over board but just said something had been said to their player.

    ReplyDelete
  26. It's a shame there aren't more players like Cantona.
There was a quote from a Liverpool fan this morning saying he had heard someone shout at him "you f***in' black b*****d."
It's disgraceful that the club is not making statements condemning racism.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Please don't stoke things up.  The fans sing the Suarez song throughout the game because they feel he has been scapegoated and treated inequitably by the FA and the media.  Whether you agree or not, they have a point the the methods of the FA and its panel were unprecedented, built on probability, and only corrected one of two players alleged to hurl insults.  There is freedom of speech in this country so the fans and the manager and the club should not be vilified for supporting their player.  All clubs have bigoted fans and racism is a national and international phenomenon.  You cannot stamp it out by scapegoating and defaming a single player or club for something that was not a cut and dry case.  The FA botched this by being uneven and for declaring Suarez (who is a mixed race new immigrant with poor English) to be a lesser character.  They have racially profiled the player and just incited more tension.  If a fan abused the Oldham lad he will pay for it - but please don't pretend that this is a one-club issue.  That is ignorant!

  28. Add this to you "news site" I quote "Row 4 ticket holder. from the forum.

I was sat in my usual seat in the LC in row 4, and I definitely heard a
racist shout, and immediately looked to my left, don't know if it was
directed at Adeyemi, but it was just at the beginning of the Luis Suarez
song, which consequently led to the furious reaction. Left me a bit
shocked and saddened so I left 5 mins early and missed our last two
goals. As an ethnic supporter myself, I hope whoever said it gets banned
from Anfield, so we can keep it racist free.

Still feeling a bit down, especially coming so soon after the Suarez ban.

(shout was B...... B... ) 1 in 45000 yet enough to cause so much upset
sad sad sad. LFC fans please dont try to defend the culprit and lose
    respect.

  29. Totally agree. Clearly the individual should never be welcome in Anfield ever again. Its one thing to think Suarez has been harshly treated, but to act in the way the FA claim Suarez did is really damaging to Liverpool's tarnished image right now (falsely tarnished however).

Liverpool fans are not like this, in a bar in Dublin recently there was half the bar watching us, the other watching United. Some idiot began singing that horrible Munich song, he was quickly told to leave, not by bar staff or United fans but Liverpool fans.We on the whole are an intelligent bunch of football fans and give a fair crack of the whip to everyone, and because of the tragedies that our club has suffered alone we know how to act.

It is just a mindless few who don't even belong in the zoo with the monkeys.

    ReplyDelete
  30. As we have witnessed a lot recently, Oliver Holt is just a hypocrite. Someone posted an article of his written several years ago in which he freely admitted to being part of 'tribalism' and joining in the verbal abuse of opposition fans and players with his mates.

    ReplyDelete
  31. With the greatest respect TKP I agree with you and I am by no means slandering all LFC supporters. On my comment above I was just trying to highlight the attitude of some sections of the crowd (in this case The Kop but pick any team you like ). It is the subtle way that people say stuff i.e TO HIM.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Whilst this ia a real embarassment, this situation requires some context.  I was at the game last night and a good friend was very close to the incident. He has confirmed what has been responsibly reported, it was a single idiot mouthing off racist garbage and the man should be charged by the police  and given a life ban from all grounds.  However, it is clearly a single nut job taking advantage of recent events for his own agenda rather than a "section of the crowd" as has been sensationally reported in many places,
The club mishandled the Suarez situation and committed a PR own goal. However, they did, and still do, believe in Luis and his innocence and that his use of language was misuderstood, being a cultural difference rather than racism per se. I have been a Liverpool fan for nearly 50 years and (apart from the mad 70's/80's when football generally went aggro mad) have always found Anfield to be welcoming and inclusive.

    ReplyDelete
  33. It has, you simple man, in BOTH statements, the one after he initial verdict and the other after the 115 page report was issued.
In both, the club reaffirmed it's commitment to eliminating racist behaviour from football. The problem is that people like you have fallen for the media campaign which has pronounced on, or selected, the most contentious or controversial parts of the statements. In so doing they have printed articles or headlines which have put LFC in the worst possible light and have totally ignored the conciliatory parts of the Liverpool statements. Its called having an agenda.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I hate that this incident came after a good game... instead of praising our players we are lamenting our sticky situation... this issue is not going to leave us alone now is it... having said that if the player was racially abused due to the fact that he threw a coin or something back at the fans or not that person should be banned from going to anfield... they dont seem to know how lucky they are to be able to go to these games...

    ReplyDelete
  35. you sound like you go the odd few games, just get on with it its part of football, its like being called a 'scouse c**t'... its not a library, if you don't like it don't go. Im not racist im just stating a fact, them fans aren't scousers or even Liverpool fans they shouldn't have been aloud in the ground with them silly hats they were wearing. Its shocking to think what anfield has become, after all weres our famous atmosphere?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Suarez gets banned and fined for reacting to Fulham fans abuse. Oldham player gets sympathy and a police investigation.

    Funny old game.

    ReplyDelete
  37. also you people saying 'i have been a Liverpool fan for...' who are all glory hunting day trippers, you don't choose who you support you are born a Liverpool fan or not a fan at all.

    ReplyDelete
  38. its football sort it out lad support your local team in Ireland whatever that is, munich has always been sung we don't like man united so who cares if its horrible, let me guess your a day tripper?

    ReplyDelete
  39. It appears from what I have read here and on other sites that it was one moron who shouted out, but the media has already got its knives out and sharpening them. The incident was the lead item on the evening ITV news, but with all the horrendous news out there,
(stabbings, shootings etc.) I found that quite staggering. More to the point, the item started with 'a fan', moved on to 'fans' and finally settled on 'a set of fans'. Were they badgers? Unfortunately, this is typical of the way the incident has been reported today. On talkSPORT this morning Mark Saggers (profoundly anti-Liverpool ) referred to 'a section of Liverpool fans'. How big is a 'section', Mark? The Kop? The Centenary stand? This is typical of the exaggeration of the media in recent times on all issues invoving LFC.
Finally, I hope they 'catch' the moron(s), prosecute him/ them and impose a lifetime ban from ALL football grounds.
No mention, of course, of the moronic chanting of the Oldham fans.

    ReplyDelete
  40. no hes a liverpool fan who agrees with me that these mindless idiots shouldn't even be allowed in the ground, they had clown hats on for fuck sake next time i see someone with one of them on i will actually knock it of there heads

    ReplyDelete
  41. The next game you go to you are going to shout some racist abuse are you then?
You shouldn't be allowed in the ground.(note spelling of allowed, in case you are banned)

    ReplyDelete
  42. The munich song has NOT always been sung! It's sick gits like you and the moron(s) from Friday we can do without. You are not a Liverpool supporter, you are a  bigot !

    ReplyDelete
  43. I do hope you are not gaving a pop at my claim of lifelong support, Paul. I was born a red and will die a red, have attended hundreds of gamed since 1966 home and abroad, and do not intend to quantify my support any more than that. This does not give my opinion any more weight than a supporter in Thailand or Nigeria or even Liverpool itself who has never been fortunate enough to have the opportunity or the means to support the club in person. The reason I mentioned it was to demonstrate a knowledge of the history and culture of the club. I am not stupid and I know some banter will always be present, some will cross the line, and in hindsight I myself stupidly joined in the Suarez song believing the poor lad to have been overly sensitive to the song itself. Like everyone else I was unaware of the specific abuse aimed at him. However I stand by my opinions that we handled the Suarez affair badly and the nutter from last night should be banned. Forever. We are not like that.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Have you been arrested tonight????

    ReplyDelete
  45. I have heard that a few were chanting "you manc b******". The lad has only just come from Norwich and it may well be that he has mis-understood what was being shouted.

    ReplyDelete
  46. There are quite a few comments on here saying that Liverpool sing songs about lots of players...past and present. I know that's true, but ask yourselves...how does it make Liverpool look?
There will be racists in the Kop end as there will be in every ground.
Ask yourself.....what would these racists be thinking when they sing Suarez' name?If Liverpool fans sing Suarez name right now then the club will increasingly be seen as harbouring racists. I'm not passing judgement or saying whether that is a fair judgement or not...I'm just telling you how others will view you.
Now you can either say that it's all unfair and that people are picking on Liverpool or you can make every effort to show that you will not tolerate racist behaviour. It would help a lot if Dalglish and Suarez admitted that their previous stance has been wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  47. that dog is a manc utd supporting wum troll

  48. I obviously have no idea of your age,or how long you have been watching football. However I have been a LFC fan since 1951,and cried my eyes out when Munich happened.Man U had a fantastic team in those days, and managed by an ex LFC player, the great Matt Busby. I would say that almost one hundred % of English fans were behind Man U,as they were representing England.I find it absolutely disgusting that any fan of LFC can make the kind comment like this about another English club! YOU ARE NOT A FOOTBALL FAN!

    ReplyDelete
  49. An arrest tonight hopefully that should be the end of it!

    ReplyDelete
  50. one player for reasons only known to him for better or for worse has created the new situational face of Liverpool. Was there an unknown agenda for the FA. I seriously wonder why only Suarez got the bad end of the stick. Now opposing teams can taunt Liverpool freely but we get the book thrown at us each time we react. Like I said. one player who initiated the so called verbal attack gets nothing at all and looks like a saint while the player who no one heard say anything bad gets the book thrown at him and now the fans that stand by him? he comes from a mixed heritage for goodness sake. It's like him abusing his grandfather.  The 'pro-a certain side' FA and media have started this and now it's for them to come clean and disengage this very serious problem. Don't the Oldham fans get charged for singing 'A town of racists'? So from now on the guy who throws the first punch gets away scot free every time as long as it's Liverpool the punch is thrown at and let's wait for the return and throw the book at them. A debate on anti-racist abuse has turned into a witch hunt for all things Liverpool. Isn't this a personal attack on ones heritage, beliefs and colour. We're RED and proud of it regardless of what colour our skin is. So what now?

    ReplyDelete
  51. We sing 'You'll Never Walk Alone' regardless of who you are or where you come from. Enough said.

    ReplyDelete
  52. As a South African Red who grew up under Apartheid It is my humble opinion that at the end of the day if another culture takes offence at something you say you need to respect that and apologise. I am afraid that the path that LFC/Dalglish have taken here is going to result in terrible things taking place, its not how LFC see themselves its how others see us, and right now the public opinion is that we are a club of Racists, you can deny, argue and dispute this as much as you like but it won't help and in the near future you will probably see pitched battles being raged with other fans and as for Saurez I do believe his days at Liverpool are numbered, opposition fans and players know he is on a short fuse and they are going to get on his case all the time, his game will suffer and he will probably leave. LFC and Dalglish have made a monumental mess with this and in a few short weeks have turned a great club into what is perceived as a Racist club, if this thing escalates as I am suggesting, another risk rears its head and that is the question of sponsorships, at the end of the day no sponsor wants their name connected with a perceived racist Football Club. I suspect that the Club will just try and "tough it out" but its too late the damage has been done the lack of a sincere unequivocal apology will now make us targets at every game.......and Liverpool will be on the receiving end of all the Negative publicty, I wonder how much thought LFC and Dalglish gave to this issue before they shot from the hip.....the owners might well be faced with the situation where damage control forces them to fire all the individuals involved, tough time ahead?

    ReplyDelete
  53. So every sponsor we find will believe that Suarez was treated in a fair way? There are some people on planet earth who believe in fairness and fact of the matter is that Suarez was unfairly treated. If this issue landed up in a court of law then the likes of Piara Powar and the FA would have had no legs to stand on as the court would have had no evidence to find Suarez guilty of racism.

Suarez has received support in a massive way from around the globe. Even his home country believe that it is wrong to label him a racist. This is not over yet.

The FA have put their foot in it now and they are going to get caught out sooner for hanging dirty laundry.

  54. Get over it FA, dont make a mountain out of a molehill. There are other beter things to do. Anyway "Puki Mak" is best description og the FA.

  55. Why was nothing done to Julius Malema, a black South African, the ANC youth president (now he has been suspended though) for calling Jonah Fisher, a BBC journalist a bastard and a bloody agent in a live TV conference at the time? Julius Malema even made refernece to Jonah Fisher to not use his WHITE tendency...

It seem there is way too much double standards when it comes to racism. If Jonah Fisher told Julius Malema not to use his black tendency then Jonah would have been labled a racist.

    ReplyDelete
  58. We had no chance of winning against the FA even if we did appeal. What would have changed things if we did appeal? Suarez would have still been found guilty without any evidence so where does it leave Liverpool when the FA are calling all the shots?

  63. so now we must stop singing the suarez song - should we also stop singing about kenny because he supported him - or all the others because they wore the shirts - i know! we'll just sing about glen johnson  - he's black isn't he - sorry, can't do that he supported suarez too - better just stop singing altogether - better still we'll sing good songs about man united - that should do it - pity i can't think of any

    ReplyDelete
  64. Listen mate with all due respect, how are we being perceived as " a racist club"? And no I don't need it spelling out I'm fully aware of the recent incidents, with the emphasis being on "recent".
This club has been around for over 100 years and like nearly every other club in the country will have people, like in society, who are racist.
It does NOT make us a racist club and as a fellow red I take offense to that because as a supporter your insinuating that I'm a racist because I'm a Liverpool supporter.
Don't jump on the media bandwagon and tar everyone with the same brush.
Like at every ground in this country, including the Mancs, there are decent supporters who in reality know we're Not a racist club but merely have a minority who will unfortunately always grab the headlines.
I don't see or hear a media witchunt over John Terry or Chelsea and there is actual video evidence in his case.
So to sum it up, put some perspective on it please!

    ReplyDelete
  65. There are conflicting reports today as to whether the phrase 'black' or 'manc' were used. I hope that the investigation gets to the bottom of this and if the term was racist, I hope that the guilty person is prosecuted with the full force of the law. Unfortunately, the FA, having agreed with Evra that Suarez is not racist, has now tarnished his name forever as a racist and he is going to get abuse from everywhere, not just Fulham and Oldham and City fans (the chants have started at United already). People should be clear here. I fully support LFC's stance against the biased and unbalanced assassination that is the FA report the same way I would fully support young Tom for the abuse he got on Friday, because I am a believer in natural justice and equality. The FA report breached those standards just as much as any fan who abuses a player, whatever team he/she supports.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Like when Robbie Fowler was banned for 5 matches for doing nothing, said he would appeal and was told if he did the penalty would be increased. You're mistaking the FA for a responsible and fair organisation. Appealing would have ended up increasing the ban and continuing the myth that LFC are not anti racist.

    ReplyDelete
  67. it was him that gave away the penalty and after the alledged incident the same player nearly broke flanos leg with a tackle that was worse than lampards tackle and did not get sent off which if spearings tackle was deemed a red card his certinaly was a red card

    ReplyDelete
  68. what has this got to do with a debate about LFC, just more racist muck-raking. Get back under your rock. 2 wrong don't make a right

  69. like you i have been a liverpool fan over 50 years- if i was born one like it's claimed elsewhere it's actually 68 - unlike you i didn't miss out the 70's and 80's - why you should do that is beyond me - my match presence is excellent and my season ticket still a pride - i have utter respect for the club but all i can say is it's about time they stood up for themselves - we have a history of being targetted by various organisations and have stood meekly by and let it happen - we have been reviled and abused in all ways (just speaking with a scouse accent is enough - 'racist?') and it has to stop - the only way is to fight back - we are scousers and we don't lay down - or we shouldn't - suarez got hammered and evra got away with it - fowler got hammered and everton fans got off scot free - at hysel we were crucified and eufa denied any responsibility (a disaster yes but not entirely of our making) - at hillsborough we got no help whatsoever from the powers that be and we suffered again not only with our loss but by abuse from sections of the media - now the club will suffer again but those who chanted we are racist will again not be punished (to the delight of the same gutter press) - he who fights and runs away may get to fight another day may be ok - but its no good if he keeps running away - he has to stand at some time - now is the time - i'm not a lawyer but there must be some way of doing it - an injustice has happened here - again!

  70. Thanks for allowing this comment to air Jaimie.

Racism is something that is not only aimed at black people. In the video this racist pig Julius Malema gets away with murder by hurling insults, swearing and making reference to Jonah Fisher's white skin.

Racism has become nothing but a one sided issue. Reverse psychology should not be tolerated.

    ReplyDelete
  71. TKP. Very sensible. Shame the newspapers cannot use your blog as it sums it all up. Thanks. Linda

    ReplyDelete
  72. I posted this video just to show people how biased racism has become.

If you do not like it then that is your prerogative.

    ReplyDelete
  73. What are you trying to prove? Stick to the issues at Anfield, this is far too serious for you to try and muddy the waters. You come across as a racist who is justifying himself by the actions of others and scaremongering people into hatred

    ReplyDelete
  74. what kind of incoherent rubbish is this? It is too important an issue for your nonsense

    ReplyDelete
  75. Oh Chuckyred, are you deaf? Never heard any racism at Anfield? Admittedly, it's not as common as it was, but it's still there, amongst the rest of the vitriol aimed at opposition players/teams. We have turned into fans who hate the opposition more passionately than we support LFC

    ReplyDelete
  76. Why should I stick to issues at Anfiled when racism lives amongst all of us no matter what your skin colour.

Do I not have a right to opinion just as you who is accusing me of coming across as being racist?

I have heard it all now.

  77. There is an old saying which goes 'power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely' - anyone recognise the FA in here?

    ReplyDelete
  78. get over it. we still back suarez. dodgy fa and dodgy evra.
say no more. why should it be ok for oldham fans to sing abuse.  grow up

  79. Soon, Europe will become a Muslim and a black continent. They give birth to more children than Europeans. Stinking liberals.

    ReplyDelete
  80. just a 19 year old with a big chip......................cant stand the heat get out the kitchen.  racism is at most grounds, along with other abuse like where you come from, about your family, about your sexuality etc etc
why they only trying to stamp out one?????
is it okay for a group of scummy fans to chant.....hope your son dies of cancer?? i know which one would hurt me most.
liverpool are just a scape goat at the moment

    ReplyDelete
  81. Jamie can you remove this? It reflects badly on the club, the fans and the website.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Thank you sir. You are speaking from experience of one who knows how quickly this issue can spiral into something nasty. The comments on this topic show how irrational and ignorant people can be on this issue. I fear for the future when behaviour like we saw on friday is justified by a large number of Liverpool fans. Not In My Name.

    ReplyDelete
  83. you need to preach your hatred elsewhere, mate, and take red4life with you

    ReplyDelete
  84. you are deflecting the issue and trying to equate the fury of a man whose country and people have been ground underfoot by white supremecists for generations, with the alleged racist hate-filled bile of an ignorant young man

    ReplyDelete
  85. Done. That idiot has been banned too.

  86. Pinr comment still visible

    ReplyDelete
  87. to every action their is a reaction... if we human beings keep reacting the way we do to what ever seems to be racist we will keep racism alive... we are fueling it with our interpretation and our reactions to anything that "may be" racist... if we just ignor it we will be better off... but, I will sound racist now (which i really am not), some dishonest people are using it to their own benefit and for sympathy...

    ReplyDelete
  88. I am not deflecting anything.

What exactly is wrong with what I posted? Yet you can accuse me of coming across racist.

    FACTS ARE FACTS my friend.

If Jonah Fisher who is a BBC jounalist had made any remarks about Julius Malema's skin colour then he would have been branded a racist yet it is ok for Julius Malema to make remarks about Jonah Fishe'rs skin, swear and insult him BUT gets away with it, AND THIS WAS ON LIVE TELEVISION.

Now you want to accuse me of coming across as being racist for what exactly?

On what grounds do you find me guilty :)

    ReplyDelete
  89. Thanks for your honesty Nourings.

Let's hope that justice for Suarez will eventually prevail!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Jaimie, do you not think you should ban Tonyg for accusing me of coming across as being racist?

Surely you would not have posted my comments which there is absolutely nothing wrong with otherwise you would not have allowed them to be posted.

    Just saying.

  91. there is a festering sore in our society, that is racism, and by accepting it because people in other countries are also racist, will only encourage more overt discrimination. Y

  92. Suarez the Afro-Uruguyan who has been abused by everyone for not speaking English.
What damage is the FA doing this group below in Uruguay?
Mundo Afro aims to foster the acceptance and integration of Afro-Uruguayan culture. The organisation fights against violence and discrimination, works to raise self-esteem in the Afro-Uruguayan population and facilitates exchange between African cultures and organisations worldwide.Mundo Afro uses football, in particular FĂștbol Callejero (Street Football), to promote strategies for peaceful conflict resolution amongst participants and their families. Mundo Afro also offers cultural activities and programmes on topics such as human rights and health. The organisation is currently establishing a national street football network in Uruguay.

  93. You're a legend Rob. If the club behaved more like you, showing humility, sensitivity and awareness, we wouldn't be in this shit in the first place. The issue I had was not just that this idiot was under the perception that the kop was a safe place to express this kind of opinion, but the fact that fans sang the Suarez song while he was visibly affected by these comments. You have shown some humility and explained the situation while others have chosen to defend the mob mentality shown.

    ReplyDelete
  94.  I'm 30 and I totally agree with this point. It's nothing to do with age, just that Rob IS THE MOST SENSIBLE LFC FAN ON THE NET. I know capitals are annoying but everyone must read Rob's statement.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Rob, again absolute legend!

    ReplyDelete
  96. What planet are you from? I've seen nothing but condemnation of the incident. Are you a southern journalist in disguise?

    ReplyDelete
  97. You are a very simple man. It's not the fact that it's a song about a player, it's the circumstances in how and when it was sang. Rightly or wrongly Suarez has found guilty of using racist language. Now to directly sing a song at a visibly upset black player after suffering abuse from a fan is probably not the smartest thing to do. Heighway, garcia et al have not been embroiled in a race row, so obviously singing their songs is not controversial. The Suarez song should not be controversial itself, but when we are aiming it at a black player after he has received racial abuse, we make it controversial. We turn it into a protest song not agaisnt the FA where the anger should go towards, but an innocent black player, thus turning the song racial. Do you know understand?

And people please stop inventing things like Adeyemi throw something at the crowd in an attempt to justify this disgraceful behaviour. This person/persons should be banned for life, and stop tarnishing the name of our club, which is in the mud as it is with our clumsy handling of the Suarez issue.

    ReplyDelete
  98. I think you lost the debate when you said get back under you rock. Not quite as bad as asking what planet are you from?

    ReplyDelete
  99. Once you've had well over 600 years of rape, pillage, torture, genocide, being treated like a 2nd class citizen, lynchings, having your natural resources swallowed up, slavery, getting hunted down on the streets and knifed to death because of the colour of your skin, being killed with an axe like what happened to Anthony Walker, stopped and searched disproportionately, being beaten by police being called N*gger and P*ki on a consistent bases, being refused jobs, not offered promotions and hitting that glass ceiling, going to football matches and not being at ease just in case you get racially abused, being a footballer and receiving monkey chants and banana's thrown at you, false imprisonment and wrongful convictions, assassinations of your leaders, after suffering apartheid and segregation, after all that and more, come back to me and complain about racism against White people. A few comments from a notable South African who probably suffered racism at a scale you could scarcely believe, doesn't seem so bad. racism is wrong against whites, blacks, brown, yellow etc but the reason it is unfair in terms of white people getting protection from racism is because you made it so. Racism has mainly been experienced by Asians and Blacks otherwise there would be no need for Nelson Mandela, Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Rosa Parks ad infinitum. So, basically really white people haven't got it that bad in the cold light of day.

  100. Ste ,makes the best point

    ReplyDelete
  101. uh oh, Boyspen, are you accusing someone of being "Southern", in a derogatory manner?

    ReplyDelete
  102. As an Oldham Athletic Fan, I have been viewing the Suarez saga from a distance.
I couldn't help wondering that if this gut wasn't so valuable in the transfer market as an asset and so pivotal to Liverpool's first eleven... would he have been backed by everyone at the club so openly?
    Just asking...
Anyway, I enjoyed the Friday night and I for one am very proud of the team's performance and the backing they received from the 6126 fans from Oldham.
Tom did not deserve this kind of abuse and the 'person' responsible must (and I'm sure will) be dealt with. It was very bad timing so soon after the t-shirt incident and some ill-advised comments from LFC.
    Just my opinion...
    Daz

  103. Sorry meant to say 'guy' not 'gut' obviously.

  104. Calm down dude! I've supported the reds since I was born but I've never been on this website before so I don't know Rob from adam, I was just making a point it was a sensible post, I'm sorry I bothered!

    ReplyDelete
  105. It is disgusting to sing a song like that. People like you would be first to complain when they sing Hillsborough.

Plus, I won't even give you the satisfaction of knowing where I am from or live, I'll support who I want, when I want...and I support Liverpool. And realise is a global institution, not confined to the boundaries of Liverpool.

    ReplyDelete
  106. He has been listening to too much Girls Aloud obviously

    ReplyDelete
  107. YNWA means what it says - but that's not to say we condone racism - the guy at the Oldham game will get what he deserves - unlike luis who got what the FA were looking for

    ReplyDelete
  108. I've seen justification (FA's fault again) on this site. Apparently it was bound to happen because of the FA's decision. Justification and condemnation are not mutually exclusive. It's just that the condemnation often reads as small print.

    ReplyDelete
  109.  I wasn't having a go at you!

    ReplyDelete
  110. I am sure Pool fans like you will lose your head, looking for other instances around the globe just to prove your pathetic point. Suarez HAS been found guilty of making a reference to Evra's color and Evra objected. He ADMITTED it. Its wrong. He got what he deserved and as for the 'THIS is not FINISHED' business - well it is finished since Liverpool did not file for an appeal. Also how a club conducts itself can be seen through its fans. Had the club been intelligent enough to handle the situation with care this(oldham incident) woudn't have happened. This 'victim mentality' fed to the fans by the club has caused this fiasco. Sing all you want about Suarez. But he WAS guilty of what he has been punished for. For your own sake, accept it and move on.Also see how United conducted itself in all of this. Had Liverpool been in place of United and vice versa, just imagine how much Kenny and the rest of the gang would have spouted out to the press trying to gain moral ground. Its pathetic behavior. Its one thing to play mind games, but  please leave that to the one's who actually know how to do it.

    ReplyDelete
  111. rob, what if "TO HIM" is referring to suarez????

    ReplyDelete
  112. Daddy and I miss you. Please stop this nonsense now and come home.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Red 4 Life, don't be an idiot. If you can't understand why someone in South Africa might be bitter, you really are clueless. There's no comparison. The fact you are trying to create one makes your motivations suspect. Its disgusting and dishonest of you to compare things in a place like South Africa to a few morons on the terraces. I know a guy from South Africa who suffered under that system, it is nothing like people being angry about Luis Suarez.

As for this issue, this is Kenny's fault, I'm afraid. Unless people believe that this player would be abused every week, what happened is almost certainly a reaction to Liverpool's poor handling of the entire case. The t shirt is another sign that suggests Liverpool are not even taking the matter that seriously. If it had been a doping offence would they have worn t shirts like that? Now, the club are saying they are deeply sorry for what happened. Too late, in the eyes of the world they have been too keen to get their own player off, regardless of whether he was guilty or not, for too long. At no point, until this happened, have they acknoweledged that there is no place for racism in football and made it clear that they wanted a just outcome, even if it might affect them.

    ReplyDelete
  114. I've had you down as a racist for some time and I've never heard you call anyone a vile racist pig before, until now. Think I had you down right, mate. If you don't see why racism, on the whole, is still a one sided issue, then you are even more clueless than i thought you were 5 minutes ago.

    ReplyDelete
  115. You are a stupid idiot, because you are comparing someone who suffered apartheid to a couple of clowns in the terraces at Anfield. The fact you don't take APARTHEID into account shows you to be even more stupid, again, than i thought you were when i last replied, for a second time, to your nonsense 5 minutes ago! I thought you couldn't sink any lower than a snakes belly!

    ReplyDelete
  116. Well said, Barry. I've seen some nonsense about this. To the point where other supporters accuse you of not supporting Liverpool because you are not willing to condone it! There is no place for people bringing up colour, at all, on a football pitch. And a 100k per week player should not be making cultural mistakes like that! Dalglish and Liverpool's reaction to this and complete undermining of the anti racist movement with their trivialising of the matter led, clearly, to what happened on Friday. They should be ashamed. And if the vile racist pigs in South Africa, and other countries that Red4Life does not like, do not buy LFC shirts anymore and we lose 20 million per year, the club only has itself to blame.

Red4Life is going to fight for justice for him, while labelling a south africa guy who suffered under apartheid a vile racist pig, give me strength.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Not been reading Red4Life's posts then? Good decision!!

    ReplyDelete
  118. he's, what, 1/ 32nd Afro? Does that mean he can't be guilty? And doesn't Mundo Afro accept that there is a problem in how the afro uruguayan community is perceived? (maybe due to the fact that someone can call you negro for no reason)

Could it be that Suarez, himself, still has a lot to learn in that respect? Well, he's just had lesson one.

    ReplyDelete
  119. By calling it the racism 'card' you are showing your true colours again. I always had you down as an idiot but not a nasty idiot. Big difference.
