£20m Spain striker RESPONDS to Liverpool transfer speculation...

Liverpool's interest in Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente is well documented, with the Spanish striker recently confirming that representatives from the club 'came to Bilbao' to negotiate a possible transfer. Liverpool still seem to be interested, but Llorente's latest comments seem to suggest that he's happy to stay in Spain.

Llorente scored in Bilbao's 3-0 victory over Levante at the weekend, and after the game, a journalist from MARCA asked him about the Liverpool speculation.

Llorente was emphatic in his response:

"I don't listen to any of the speculation, and I am very focused here at Bilbao.

"I feel very comfortable and appreciated, and I am not thinking about anything else right now."

Another one bites the dust it seems.

  2. LFC, Please buy 2 strikers and save us from nightmares. Manure fans are forever teasing us. Andy Carrol has failed

  3. Why doesn't KD have a 'permanent' starting 11? Good coaches do not change a winning team, unless otherwise

  4. Henry, grow a backbone and stop worrying what other fans say. Way to early to say AC has failed. Ill admit he hasnt proved himself at LFC far from it but hes a young player and has plenty of time to become a hit.

  5. Just not going to happen. Yes, he has a better all-round game than Carroll but he is a similar player, in terms of dynamic and requires service like Carroll needs. So I don't see us spending big again on another player that is similar.

  6. The guy can no longer trap the ball. It is like he needs to go back to the basics. His positioning is bad when we have set pieces and as such, he always misses the ball. He can't fight for the ball and I feel he is a liability. Maxi is a better finisher, what do you think?

  7. Andy carroll has not had a chance yet , he will come good .All the so called fans will eat their words .

  8. His team mate Muniain is a different kind of player to him but more talented. Exciting player. Play in any attacking role. For such a versatile attacker, he is very good in front of goal. He isn't tall but he has the aggressiveness, work rate and assertiveness to overcome that. He is the player we should go from Bilboa, whether it be for the wing or up front. He shits on Downing in terms of variety of wing play. A very good playmaking forward, whether it be on the wing or up front, in the making.

  9. Carroll has a very little to his game, which makes it more important for him to have a good first touch/control but his is awful. Rooney and Tevez have a dodgy control/first touch but his all round game is pretty good for him to overcome that. All Carroll has is aerial ability and strength. Yes, to hold the ball up, you need strength but also control, which is poor at the moment from Carroll.

He is never going to become effective as a target man if he can't hold the ball up. If he can't become a target man in that sense, what is the point of him.

As a target man, you need strength, positioning and control as well as reasonable levels of finishing. He only has one at the moment to a decent level, that is strength.

Crouchie has a brilliant first touch and control compared to Carroll.

We were better off buying Crouch again, instead of Carroll.

Weird seeing overhead kicks from such a tall guy, Crouchie!

  10. Agreed. When the likes of Downing can finally delivery the crossing ability that we supposedly bought him for then the likes of Carroll will have a better chance of scoring. The guy needs to bang a few in to get his confidence back as its clearly lacking

  11. Even Susaeta, another Bilboa player, would shit on Downing, in terms of wing play

  12. i agree with Crems, liverpool fans are too quick to slate our own players, give Carol some time, he will come right

  13. That means that at least Arry isn't getting him either. Which is good.

Generally, I think if we end up with no signings this month, apart from that portuguse youngster, it will mean that the owners are being cautious now with spending on the players under Dalglish, because if a new boss is appointed in summer he might want to bring in different players from those who Kenny seems to prefer.
That's not a good sign for Kenny at all.

  14. So he can only improve in your opinion. At least he's not at the top of his game and still having no impact. Give it a rest and give him a chance. Stevie g is just back, and if you watched the newcastle game you'd have seen that that could potentially be very significant in supplying carol. Gerrard made used him the way he should be, and consequently carrol caused problems and nearly had a few. Just relax and give him a chance...

  15. As I told you guys earlier, he is a Fernando Torres Mark 2. Get him fast and Reina should also use his Spaniard influence. No more poor man's Torres like Bent or Defoe.

  19. I enjoyed every bit of your comment. Just imagine what would have become of our team had we bought Demba Ba instead of Carrol? The guy has confidence and his ball control is good We need such kind of a player. I would rather we even buy Nando

  20. hes only saying this because hes there now

  21. Personally I can't see Carroll being a success, but, he does at least deserve the opportunity to "fail" rather than being used 1 game in 3 and then given no decent service.

  22. Enough of all this Carroll business! He scored a load of goals for Newcastle last year, who had a worse team than us. If he reproduces that form, he will be fine. Why are people saying the guy is not good enough, poor first touch, etc, etc. He's good in the air, he's scored a belting goal, off his left foot, against us last season, he's already scored for England. He's had injury problems, anyone who has played football knows that it is much tougher for big lads to regain full fitness, being 5ft 9, i never had that problem, but some of the tall lads, if they got injured, could take ages to get back to normal. Then, add to that pressure and confidence and that will explain some of the problems. He's not a bad player. Not worth 35 million but good enough for us. If all the supporters and ex players would get off his back and start to blame the people who are not providing him with chances, his form might take off. I can see both him and Torres turning the corner soon, and all the criticism of the last year will soon be forgotten. But Downing needs to step us very soon. He's been the main disappointment for me.

  23. Sure he is not Morientes Mark 2 instead? I'd happily have Darren Bent but we could buy a top class creator in central midfield for that price.

  24. Downing is pure rubbish. No fight in him (unless hes slapping a girl apparently). Too afraid to fail. Unfortunately some players cant handles the big team spotlight. Back to Villa asap

  25. Look andy carrol is young and can get better but lets face it we dont want to keep playin him coz he is awful and he (a 35 million pound player) does not want to be sat on the bench for 2 or 3 seasons till he gets better (lets face it he has to play to get better but if kenny has any sense he will cut his losses and get rid) rant over !!!!!!

  26. Agree with you 100%. It doesn't matter how much better than AC Llorente is, it would probably be seen as bad business by the owners to buy a similar player when we spent £35m on AC. I moan about him every time I watch him fall on his backside during a game but he's always back to goal trying to fight against tough prem defenders (the sort of challenge that is bread and butter for any centre back) for stupid long balls. When he does get the chance to attack a good cross he looks a lot better. As much as I hate to contradict my own moans of annoyance, I'm sure he'll come good given time and KD figuring out how to use him in our style of play.

There's only one Andy Carroll, there's only one Andy Carroll, there's only oooooone Andy Caaaaaahroll (and unfortunately we've got him right now) YNWA

  28. hmmmm.... how about Suarez?

  29. Not since El Hadji Diouf, have I felt so let down by a liverpool signing. Commoli has alot to answer for, he could have got Darren Bent who I've never been a huge fan of but he'll get 15-20 every year (and had a great game at anfield last season for Sunderland) and we'd have had 10 million left in the kitty. For all those who say Carrol will come on leaps and bounds now Gerrards back, it says two things to me- the whole team lacks a killer final ball (except Gerrard) and secondly Carrol is incapable of doing anything other than heading. Regardless of price tag he's not good enough and an over reliance on other players to play to your strengths is a bad sign. I would never slag him at the match but he hasn't got the basics and he can't run. I f he's not fit by now then he's not committed to Liverpool and doesn't deserve anyones support, if he's fit he's slow. The team needs pace, width and a give and go style of play, ball retention is nothing without goals. Sell Carrol and I'll bring me boots and shinnies!

  30. how about dont believe everything you read!!
he was probably one of many before suarez and carroll came along.
still time for carroll to redeem himself

  31. THE COMMENT DOES NOT PROVE ANYTHING. WOULD YOU EXPECT HIM TO SAY THAT HE IS ANXIOUS TO LEAVE HIS TEAM AND INCUR THE WRATH OF THE SUPPORTERS? IF LIVERPOOL MAKES A SERIOUS OFFER, THEN WE WILL KNOW HIS REAL INTENTION. I BELIEVE TORRES WAS STILL PLEDGING HIS LOYALTY TO LIVERPOOL A FEW DAYS BEFORE HE BOLTED TO CHELSEA. DON'T EXPECT THESE NEGOTIATIONS TO BE  CONDUCTED IN THE NEWS MEDIA.

  32. If Liorente is signed, it would truly expose Dalglish as a one-trick pony or, more precisely, a manager who is truly out of his depth. Having already predetermined that Liverpool shall play with a big frontman, Liorente's arrival would simply imply that Dalglish wants a similar type of player to the donkey he had earlier acquired.

  33. KENNY DALGLISH HAS FINAL SAY ON ALL TRANSFERS ..CARROLL IS A DALGLISH SIGINING NOT COMOLLI....KENNY DALGLISH PROTECTION SQUAD CAN'T HIDE KD'S S**T SIGININGS

  34. Carroll is lacking alot of basic fotballskills for a striker...

He is slow, bad first touch, poor at reading play, bad tecnique, cant get past any defender 1 one 1 and has verry limited passing skills!

He clearly does not fit in at lfc`s quick "pass and play" system..

Why did we buy a dumpster when we needed a sportscar?!

Btw, Dalglish is asking for more creativity these days!
Hmm well, he should have tought of that BEFORE he gave both Mereiles and Aquilani the boot in the summer!!!
