Will Liverpool *really* miss Luis Suarez that much when he's banned...?

Luis Suarez is undoubtedly one of Liverpool's best players, but will the team actually miss him that much when he's out serving his 8-game ban? I'm not so sure.

Suarez is a fantastic player, and his principal role in the team is to score and create goals. However, the cold hard truth is that he has not been doing that consistently this season, and the facts prove this beyond a shadow of a doubt. Consider the following:

* Only 2 goals in the last 12 league games

* Only 5 goals in the last 20 league games overall.

* Currently scores one goal league goal every 293 minutes in the league.

* Conversion rate of only 7.2%

* Only 1 assist in 18 league games this season.

* 12 points dropped at home with Suarez leading the line.

With these figures in mind, is it really true to say that Liverpool will miss Suarez that much when he's banned? I don't think so. One thing's for sure, the team will definitely not miss his goals and assists for the simple reason he isn't scoring or assisting often enough.

Don't get me wrong: I would much rather have Suarez in the team than not, but I just don't think Liverpool will miss him as much as some fans seem to think.

  1. With all the off the field trouble I don't think we can judge him and his performances this season, 4 goals in 7 before the Man U then being labeled a racist as effected his natural game. 3 assists penalty won against WBA, WBA for Carroll and against Villa for Bellamy.

  2. Yes, Suarez will be sorely missed. He's been massively unlucky not to score as often as he shot on goal. In fact, he shot on goal more than any other striker in the league, with the lowest conversion rate. But he created a lot of goals scoring moments and made a few assists. He is a threat for the opposition, always, whether he manages to score or not.
One thing is positive (I guess) - the rest of our striking force will have to step up and show what they are capable of. It's a do or die thing for them.
And, hopefully, by the time Suarez's ban commences, we will have one more striker added to the squad. So not everything is soo doom and gloom.

  3. I believe we will miss him more for his workrate and in the defender's faces .... I can see why we got him for 22mil though - in the box he tends to go for nigh impossible goals rather than looking for a team mate in a better position in the box ... that is why we desperately need another proven striker (Huntelaar) who will be able to communicate in Dutch with Suarez and a creative midfielder who is not just a box to box midfielder

  4. Suarez has become the focal point of Liverpool attack but now with his ban it will affect Liverpool's approach but with Gerrard coming back to full fitness and also with January transfer window coming soon, Liverpool can parry that blow.

  5. All the facts in the world(goals / Assists) do not make any difference to the fact LFC will not be as creative with the loss of Suarez, our conversion rate is the worst in the league and that is why we are 6th and not 2nd. I simply cannot agree that we will not miss Suarez as I am sure our complete style of attacking will have to change to suit whoever replaces him.
Suarez is so much more of an influence that sometimes the hard facts you mentioned do not paint the true picture.
The lad terrorises any defence he plays against, I have not seen any PL defender keep him totally quiet for 90 mins.
Do a poll for premier league defenders which LFC striker they would not want to be playing against and I bet you Nemanja Vidic or Rio Ferdinand would be saying well that Suarez has only scored 4 or bloody 5 goals whatever it is,and only made 1 assist so we will easily play against him!!!Utter crap, just for the fact of what he has the ability to do scares the living shite out of any defence so we will miss him more that anyone including Gerrard. Would love to know all the facts of how many shots Suarez has had saved / hit woodwork, assists he has made which have been saved etc.... too much emphasis on statistics as usual

  6. Suarez is out for tomorrow but after that untill the FA have released their justification of the Suarez ban then he will still be available for selection.

Suarez has been the player leading our attack and has done a magnificent job at it but he has only scored 5 and 3 assists in his 18 EPL matches. Not such a great return and was expecting more from him this season.

Maybe just maybe we will go and sign another striker. Let's hope it will be one that converts as many chances as possible into goals.

Who would I play upfront tomorrow? Bellamy and Carroll.

                      Reina

      Kelly   Skrtel   Agger   Enrique

    Johnson  Gerrard  Adam  Downing

               Bellamy   Carroll

but have a feeling that it is going to be

                        Reina

      Johnson   Skrtel   Agger   Enrique

     Downing  Henderson  Adam  Bellamy

                   Kuyt   Carroll

  8. I feel its the editor's manipulation that has caused more votes to the first option. There is no doubt that Suarez will be sorely missed. If someone doesn't think so then he should start watching LFC games ASAP.

so what are trying to prove here, if he has scored only 5 goals and still our leading goal scorer; as much as it's a worrying sign we are better off with him. i don't think we have much else options upfront. you think carroll has done any better.right now he's the only player in the squad with creativity and flair, the rest are just plain boring and utterly average players. stop writing these senseless articles

  12. Strangely enough, it takes a little while to actually read the report and digest it. I'm not just going to post any old knee-jerk response; I prefer to read it objectively and then post. I will be posting several articles about the report, and the first one will be posted in a couple of hours.
