Bad news for LFC as transfer target admits: "I am NOT leaving in January..."

Liverpool target Cheik Tiote has emphatically confirmed that he will not be leaving Newcastle for Anfield in January.

Tiote himself recently revealed that several big clubs were interested in him, including Liverpool:

"When teams such as Chelsea, City, Liverpool and United are interested in you it makes you think twice, but I love Newcastle"

However, speaking to the Newcastle Evening Chronicle earlier today, Tiote made it clear that he won't be leaving Tyneside any time soon:

"People can say whatever they want to say about me, but I'm a professional footballer, and I play for Newcastle.

"I'm not thinking of leaving in January, I'm very happy playing for this club. That's my job, and I need to work hard for the team and the club".

That seems quite emphatic, but as we know, money talks; all footballers have a price, and the same applies to Tiote, as Newcastle manager Alan Pardew acknowledge recently:

"We value him [Tiote] very highly here and I think, on my part, I expect him to stay, but that does not mean to say something might not come out of the fire. If he did go, it would have to be for a silly price"

Liverpool already paid a 'silly price' for Andy Carroll, so hopefully the club has learned its lesson in that regard.

  1. Although you lot paid "silly" money for Carroll ,you will have to stump up more for Tiote . Why ? well because he is worth it . Doubt you lot have any chance of getting him when Better teams are in for him like man utd .

  5. Man U may have let in 6 goals and had a bad day, but they are closer to man City than liverpool are. Liverpool are 15 points behind man U so whats their excuse?

  12. Yes, a bad result suddenly makes United not better than Liverpool anymore(!)

The mancs won the title last season and are level on points with league leaders this season, whereas Pool are where?

Thats right, they are a better team than Pool

  13. When someone does a spell-check post, thats when you know they are really scraping the bottom of the barrel

  14. no, that isn't the only thing u were pointing out. Through sarcastic means, you unsuccessfully tried to illustrate that the 6-1 result somehow meant the mancs are not better than liverpool. You sound like a Liverpool fan if you think one result means everything.

  16. We have been taken for a ride in the purchase of Andy Caroll by Newcastle. We should not be bitten by the same snake the comes out fron the same hole, twice. My "Puki Mak" wishes to Newcastle for the new year.

  17. No they aren't. City are at the top by virtue of being a superior team, but Man U has a pretty ordinary big team squad. We've got a better squad than Man U, but Alex Ferguson is tactically superior where it comes to the premier league - they are constantly looking for an effective counter as opposed to playing an attractive game.

  18. Should read "good news" for Liverpool

  19. Liverpool have a 'better squad'? Hehe.

Just because we have got rid of the likes of n'gog and el zhar, doesn't mean we suddenly have a better squad than the mancs. Mancs might have a weak central midfield compared to say Spurs and City but what on earth have Adams and Henderson proven? Absolutely nothing. They have a better squad of defenders, better wingers, better squad of strikers. We haven't had a good squad in around two decades, that has always been our downfall as the likes of Evans, Hodgson, Souness, Rafa and now Kenny keep bringing in rubbish squad players to supplement the first team. In la-la land if you think we have a better squad.
