CONFIRMED: Agent reveals Liverpool NOT in the running for €40m wing-wizard...

Lille's Eden Hazard has persistently been linked with a move to Merseyside over the last six months, and I'm sure Liverpool fans would love to see the Belgian international at Anfield. However, the latest comments from Hazard's Agent seem to suggest that Liverpool are not in the running for his signature.

Speaking on French Radio, Marc Fourmeux revealed a long list or potential suitors, and, sadly, Liverpool was not among them. Said Fourmeux:

"There is much talk of an offer of €30m from Manchester City, which will see him remain at Lille for the next six months. Michel Seydoux [Lille President] is seeking €40m though.

"His future is in any case destined for a big European club like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester City, AC Milan, Inter or Juventus."

If Liverpool were seriously in the running then Formeux would've surely named the club alongside the rest of the allegedly interested teams.

The speculation over Hazard has intensified in recent months (i.e. certain websites have continually made up fake stories) as a result of Joe Cole's presence at Lille, but as long as Liverpool are out of the Chmapions League, I can't see Hazard choosing Anfield over the Nou Camp or the Bernbeau.

Liverpool legend John Barnes also thinks the Hazard link is pie in the sky, as he revealed recently:

"We have to be realistic about who we can get, and while we have been linked with a lot of big names, such as David Villa, Eden Hazard and Bastein Schweinsteiger, At this moment in time, I don't think they will be coming to Liverpool"

  1. We were to slow we should have brought him after we played Lille in 2010 in the Europa league.

Agree - we should've gone in for Hazard ages ago.

  4. IMO Hazard would be great signing but realistically he won't join Liverpool without champions league football and besides he is massively overpriced, though he would warrant that price in the future but not right now, so it would be better for Liverpool to get someone like Shaqiri who is just as good as Hazard and would be better suited to premier league considering his playing style and isn't priced as high as Hazard. I think Shaqiri would be a realistic signing for Liverpool, he can provide that creative spark which is always missing from Liverpool and i think he can be as good as Rooney in the future but Liverpool would have to act fast or miss out on him.

  6. Milos Krasic Juventus would be a far more realistic signing at about £12million and he his being made available in this transfer window.

  7. If the other teams are genuinely interested, Liverpool have never really stood a chance as they can't offer CL football.

That is not even taking into consideration for the so-called love and preference of Barca-Real that prospective playersBut surely, there must be players better than Adam, Henderson, Carroll, etc, that would be willing to come to Liverpool

  8. Big European team like Manchester City??? When did that happen? All the money in the world doesnt mean you are a big team you have to win trophies for that, come back when you have done that. City buy everyone and its only a matter of time before that bites you in the arse and its started with Tevez

  9. THis is absolutely rubbish. How can we not be in the running to sign Hazard when we have first refusal? It makes no sense. True we cannot offer CL football this season, but then Man City can't either. Either way I do not see Hazard moving in Jan unless for an insane amount of money, much more than 40m. He won't leave Lille in Jan, he has stated over and over again. So we should bring in a striker like Higuain or Cavani in January, then go for Hazard in the summer.

  10. Higuain £20m and affelay £10-15m would be perfect and solve a lot of problems, affelay can play either wing or attacking midfield and Higuain upfront with Louis would be awesome, dont think we would miss Stevie as much with these, also Higuain is 24 and affelay is 24.

  11. I agree with Matt _Lfc . Those two positions need looking into. Having just Carroll and Suarez isn't enough. Kuyt and bellers play on the wings . We need good technical player on the wing with pace. Hate to say it but if u look at the top3 you'll see city have, a Johnson , Milner, silva, nasri, utd have Nani , Valencia and young . Spurs have bale Lennon, pieener and VDV who also play that role. We have downing with pace and no skills. Maxi with smart movement no pace or skills. Kuyt hard work no pace no skills Bellemy pace and a little bit of skill. We need the likes of hazard , Marko Marin , shaqiri, gotze , erikkson, affely .

  12. Get a proven striker and pay the market price. Dont haggle for just a couple of million pounds. Have we not learn our lesson yet?

  14. true on what u have said...but had we won at least 4 (Norwich, Swansea, Wigan & Blackburn) of the drawn games whereby we wasted chances after chances we would have been in 3rd place above Spurs. Also not to forget, we could and should have beaten S'land, MU n City. We need to convert draws into wins. Unable to do so is as equivalent to rot for a £100M investment. A minimum target of top 4, but we are lingering in the borderline with 3 points difference. If this same performance continues in 2nd half of the season, we can forget about Champions League for another season.

  15. just as I had wished, 1 quality striker, 1 quality winger who can switch flanks. But then, at the moment we do not have a creative midfield player, not in Adam, not in Henderson nor in Shelvey. We need one quality midfielder (like Gerrard, Silva or Modric) who creates chances and also takes cracks at the goal.
