Newspaper apologises to Liverpool's Andy Carroll for 'boot camp' slur...

Last Weekend, 'The People' ran a story claiming that Liverpool had put Andy Carroll on a 12 month fitness schedule in a bid to improve his performances for the club. It was obvious from first-read that the story was ludicrous, and The People has publicly apologised to Carroll for running the story.

The bulk of the newspaper's 'story' was based around quotes from an alleged 'source', but it now appears that this source was either lying, or completely made up.

Here is the apology, which was published on The People's website about an hour ago:

"Last weekend we ran a story entitled “Do or Diet” in which we said that Liverpool have placed Andy Carroll on a 12 month regime to monitor his lifestyle, dietary and drinking habits. This is incorrect. The Club have confirmed that Andy has not been placed under any such regime and we are happy to set the record straight. We apologise to Liverpool and Andy for the error".

  1. Sue the idiots. They think they can just fabricate stories to sell papers then they just retract it.

  3. I don't suppose the apology got as much page space and emphasis as the original story got. They never do.

Fling the mud, let it stick, and if you're caught apologise in as small and least noticeable way you can.

  8. the thing is there are plenty of papers and other media plus hundreds of fans that should apologise to Carroll, I can't think of a player who deserves more apologies than Andy. And I would personally love to kick all the guilty ones who has done nothing but slating him no matter what he has done, they haven't got a clue

  12. When something is 'borrowed', you can bet that consent was given by the owner to the borrower. In this instance, the images were STOLEN!
