BELLAMY: "I shouldn't say this because he's my manager, but..."

Craig Bellamy has been a Liverpool fan since he was six years old, and he grew up watching the great Liverpool teams of the 1980s, which included his current manager, Kenny Dalglish. For the second time in 5 years, the former Man City striker is living the dream at Anfield, and he recently revealed his favourite Liverpool players of the past. No prizes for guessing who came top of his list...

Bellamy, who played a major role in Liverpool's victory against Chelsea last weekend, enthused:

"I shouldn't say this because he's my manager and it doesn't sound right but it would probably be Kenny Dalglish.

"It didn't matter where you were on the pitch, he would still have a massive impact impact on you.

"Kenny could play anywhere on the pitch, and you would be thankful that he was alongside you".

The Welsh international is also a big fan of some other familiar favourites:

"I loved John Barnes. I loved Peter beardsley. Alan Hansen was also remarkable.

"I watch videos and I remember watching a game a year or so ago when Liverpool scored 5 at Goodison. Hansen was the centre back and it seemed like he set-up all five goals!"

The game to which Bellamy refers is, of course, the 5-0 thrashing of Everton in November 1982:

Bellamy is renowned for his intensity on the pitch, but off the pitch, he's keen to stress that he's very different:

"I like a laugh and I do have a good sense of humour, I hope. I like funny people, and those who don't take life too seriously.

"I can be too intense a lot of the time, so it's nice to switch off and be around people that have that kind of character.

"Probably the biggest part of football is being around a bunch of grown men who act like eight-year olds every day!"
