Kenny Dalglish's irritation shows as he comments on Gerrard + Carroll...

In his rather tetchy post-match press conference, Kenny Dalglish was positive about Steven Gerrard's progress, and praised Dirk Kuyt and Andy Carroll for their contributions during the 2-0 win over Everton.

Dalglish was happy that Gerrard got another run-out:

"It’s another step forward for Steven, coming on in the derby and getting a few more minutes under his belt. With regards to any reaction [to his injury] after the game, there was nothing, other than happiness over the result".

Dirk Kuyt missed a penalty, but Dalglish was happy with his reaction to that disappointment:

"What was more pleasing was the reaction of Dirk Kuyt after missing the penalty; it didn’t seem to affect him, which is a sign of a strong character".

Dalglish was then asked about how he thought the Suarez-Carroll partnership was progressing. With weary irritation, he responded:

"Every week we get asked the same thing. We said when we signed the both of them that it was a great bit of business for the club, and we don’t see any reason to change that opinion, and I don’t think there’s any need for us either to have a weekly bulletin on how they’re progressing. We’re delighted with them.

"I think Andy was unlucky a couple of times before [his goal] with headers. He stroked it away very nicely...he's worked really hard in training and he’s getting his reward on the pitch".

I have to say, Dalglish seems to get more irritated and impatient with every press conference. None of the questions he was asked were out of order or insensitive; none them attacked the club or its players; he just looked like he didn't want to be there, and at times, he seemed deliberately obtuse.

Of course, that's his right, but it's only 7 games into the season - if he continues in this manner then it will just annoy the media, and give them additional motivation to stick the knife in if/when things don't go Liverpool's way.

Yes, I know Dalglish has always been this way (I remember from his first stint in charge), but media scrutiny has increased exponentially since then, and I just feel there's no need to be needlessly combative when answering questions about the club.

  2. Gosh. Anyone would get annoyed with the same question every week. Did you pee today, Jaimie? Did you pee today, Jaimie? Did you pee today, Jaimie?

How many times before you blow your tops? LOL.

Anyway, it was a lucky win. I'll take it.

  3. So what if it's the same questions over and over.  KD gets paid handsomely to answer them.  Showing irritation and being obtuse will backfire at some point. Plus, observing Dalglish in every press conference this season, he makes it sound like he's put-upon, which is not the case.  It's his job.

  4. Jaime, No news like bad news eh??

Would you enjoy being called a Manc rat over and over again? No I guess not, I would expect you to defend yourself.

Dalglish as he states hints is being asked the same thing time after time - what is wrong with him showing displeasure with that. Its only human nature to be irritated, isn't it.

Journalists are not to be trusted and are always seeking the bad news story.

Let him without sin, cast the first stone...

  5. he is a passionate red first , then a manager and people are doubting/questioning  his team (win or lose may I add) asking the same inane questions week in week out ?? he is gonna be reserved in what he says job or not .... and to be honest I can't believe I have just read this in fairness ..... obtuse ????? pffft

  6. Has always been the same with the press! Was like this in the 80s! Do we have to debate this again now? The internet has a lot to answer for!

  7. If you can't hack a bit of honesty then just don't bother coming to this site, or commenting.  And drop the derogatory comments or I'll ban you. (Your post has been edited)

  8. Hannah - no one was doubting his team in the press conference.  The questions were positive, and designed to elicit positive responses. And yes, he was being obtuse IMO.

  9. If you don't want to debate it then don't!

  10. It will be great if the King can copy abit of Shank's style in answering journalists. In responding to a stupid question, Shanks once said "why dont you go and jump into the lake?"

    LOL. Hilarious.

  13. Jamie,
are you critical of Kenny showing support for his player and attacking those n press who attack his players? well, I think you are wrong to do so.
Ferguson , Mouriheu  and many other managers done it for years and i remember some refusing ot talk to press because they were crtical of them.
so you attack is totally unjustified.

  17. Carroll had a great game upfront and in defence .
Great game from Lucas did what Adam could n't and took hold of the midfield won everthing and started nearly every move doing what Adam did n't.Missed opportunity for Adam to run a game especially with Stevie G coming on for him.

  18. Dalglish is spot on in his press conferences and interviews.  The questions are not designed to be positive.  They never are.

  19. The Press will be singing a very different tune if Carroll 7 Suarez share 40 goals between them this season & no matter how much a man is paid to do his job he is going to get irritated by the monotony of answering the exact same bland question with the exact same bland answer after each & every game .

The fact is lazy journalists who simply arent qualified to comment on the game of football have to make up idiotic angles of approach to keep themselves in work .

For anyone with even basic experience within the game , whos first language happens to be of all things , English ,  its beyond frustrating to have to put up with such low levels of professionalism by the media .

  20. I have to say honestly that Kenny is right and He's got my total support after this reaction.
The pressure from media is insane and it's something that I've never seen before. It seems that price tag justifies any kind of pressure towards the Players, Who has not time to settle in a New Club.
Sometimes Andy Carrol is victim of abuse and critics although He played good football.
Has Andy Carroll netted twice? Not. Ok, then He's automatically a flop, and no matter the quality of Andy's performance.
And What about Hendo? He's only 20 yrs old, and He scored against Bolton with a sensational strike then He missed an opportunity at Stoke and the "Anti - new Kenny's guys band" deliberately started to slate against the new comers, especially Hendo.
And some Fans are not giving an help to the manager & players following the Media's route. Sometimes final score is not an issue, win or lose some Fans (we don't need them) will deliberately attack Manager's side.
And the kind of abuse that a faboulous player like Adam is suffering is simply simply unfair.
Fortunately, They are a very very marginalised minority.

  21. Well done to Kenny for sticking up for one his players.
When was the last picture or real story about Carroll being drunk?
All these stories are when he was at NEWCASTLE Kenny even said in the interview when has he been drunk at Liverpool falling out of clubs?
Of course he is going to be annoyed he has laughed it off enough times!

  22.  Kenny is Kenny & Shanks was Shanks .

That was then & this is now .

Dalglish is as sharp as a razor & if yer too slow witted to keep up with him he will cut you to ribbons with his dry one liners .

He isnt a comedian though & if you piss him off he will let you know about it .

    ReplyDelete
  23. If this really bothers you so much, why don't you have a word with Dalglish and the club? And remember to let us know how you get along.

It is only valid to you as you are only interested in bad news and sensationalist guff and I will not be reading your drip, drip, drip of negative perjorative nonsense again.

As I said let him without sin cast the first stone.

I see my post just as I expected was edited and you have the front to talk about honesty, a delicious irony.

  24.  He was way way more obtuse & surly in the 80's & 90's with the press .

Back then he was blatantly bad mannered with them at times .

He has either moved with the times or he has mellowed with age a wee bit .

    ReplyDelete
  25. Kenny does not suffer fools gladly...and rightly so. fergie can get away with it so should KK Brill result today boys ..........

    ReplyDelete
  26. I think calling him obtuse is a little harsh. Kenny has always been 'enigmatic' with the press and you have to remember due to the insatiable demands on the 'media' he has to do press conferences a day before the game - just before the game - after the game to two different tv stations then an after game press conference. He is only human (being paid 'handsomely' doesn't stop this) and sometimes people react to the same daft questions posed by people who have never kicked a ball in their life. Unfortunately because he is under the spotlight it gets magnified.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Much ado about nothing in my opinion

    ReplyDelete
  28. This has nothing to do with KD sticking up for his players. That's great - I'm just making a general comment on his demeanour in press conferences since the beginning of the season.

And just to be clear: there was no need to stick up for his players because they weren't being attacked in the first place.  Some of the questions included (paraphrasing):

"Scoring a goal will be good for Andy Carroll's confidence, won't it?"

"Do you think Steven Gerrard will be fit enough to play for England?"

"You must be pleased with the performance overall?"

    etc.

Nothing that required the defending of players.

I just watched this press conference.  Kenny said the whole thing with a big cheeky smile on his face.  Sometimes it is necessary to attribute the body language of the person as well as the quote (as you did with Enrique last week when he spoke about Carra)  Makes the world of difference.  Big wooden spoons...........:-)

    ReplyDelete
  50. You must be watching a different interview. In the post-match press conference there was no cheeky smile anywhere.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I wouldn't care too much if Dalglish verbally abused the media. All that matters is that he had the sense to take Henderson out of this game for Kuyt because of the sheer aggressiveness and energy involved in a derby. I said all along that Carroll is not a good striker, and the only thing he has to offer is space for other players as a target player and goals. His performances are not his mainpoint unlike Suarez's but if he can score goals through the system Liverpool play then he might just be able to live up to that price tag. All in all keep winning, confidence is vitally key.

    ReplyDelete
  52. No Jamie, he gets paid to manage the team, not the media... The media (you included) may as well fuck off.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I love the way that KD handles the press, he shows them the exact same amount of respect  as they show to the people they're interviewing. KD doesn't suffer fools lightly and I'm glad he doesn't, he's keeping up a fine tradition of past LFC mangers, notably Shanks and Paisley who would cut any reporter to the bone with a withering reply if they deemed their question benign.
As for worrying about upsetting the press in case they say nasty things about us, just get a grip, I stopped caring one iota about what the press thought of our club and fans after the Sun's lies.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Jamie this article is ridiculous, I have read it all and can honestly say I have just wasted 30 seconds of my life. You make yourself out to be someone who knows body language very well. Each meeting Kenny has with the media is a great one. Even the professionals state on TV they look forward to his meetings (apart from you) do me a favor and stop creating rubbish. I did watch the meeting after the game today with SKY and once again he made the media aware what hes all about!

    ReplyDelete
  55. With 'supporters' like you Jamie, who needs enemies?  You are negative and do not posess the values that being a true Red is all about.

    ReplyDelete
  56. That's your opinion not a definitive mistake! Both Johnson and Kelly were injured so he plays an international player i.e. Skrtel over a teenager i.e. Flanagan who was very short of confidence following the opening day game. Easy to blame the manager when players let you down. Why criticise rather than support the team? Make constructive and opposed to destructive comments which divides supporters. There is enough effort wasted responding to fans from other clubs - show your support!!!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Spot on mate,Lucus was superb ! adam was mediocre ,time for him to drop out for super stevie, would like to say a word about bellamy thought his attitude was great what a superb little player he his!

    ReplyDelete
  58. When Kenny took over in '85, he had maybe one season (the double-winning term as player/manager) before the romance wore off and the press decided he was a "dour" or "surly" Scot who was cagey and unco-operative. He is fiercely protective of his players and his club and if he perceives any agenda from a journo, he isn't shy about pointing that out. How can this be a bad thing? Why cultivate cosy relations with the media? Kenny is LFC to the core and if there was any benefit to the club in schmoozing, he would do it. The previous incumbent always made time for his media chums (and threw his own players under the bus in the process) and they loved him for it. That might have helped him get another job but it didn't help LFC one bit and LFC is all Kenny cars about.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I like Dalglish's interviews, he doesn't put up with any rubbish from the interviewees or sniping for information. He knows all too well that whatever he says, the media will twist it and print what they want so he might as well say as little as possible on the subject.

In addition, Dalglish gets paid handsomely to manage the club not answer stupid media questions you moron.

Jamie Kanwar = unknowledgeable, negative, moronic wannabee journalist.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Jaimie you obviously aren't old enough to remember the King's first stint. This is how he works. It's "us"/"LFC" against the bloody World!

Screw the press also. They're going to put the knife regardless of whether of not Kenny kisses their arse. It's also about time the media had a wake up call and were put on the back foot - made to think a bit more carefully about their questions and be a bit more respectful. I don't think Kenny gives two hoops if the press don't like him, and why should he - long live the King!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Jamie - I think its a clever point you make about Kenny, but maybe if we are all going to analyses his post match comments have you considered this - part of what Kenny has focused on since he has returned, is the positive thinking that surrounds Liverpool under Kenny, its my belief that Kenny is a great motivator for the players. For the press they seem to be focusing on Carrol not score 40 goals already for LFC whilst Kenny is playing the team game rather than focusing or allowing the focus to be on one player.

I believe Kenny's responses are calculated to push the press into only asking questions that focus on the team responses that build that confidence - that way when asked about positive signs starting to show between Carrol and Suarez, Kenny is waspy as be wants the press to state that its great that the guys have this understanding (positive) rather than are showing signs (suggesting problems) if you look at things with this context and look at the comments about Gerrard and Kuyt - he is only focusing on the positive. If it takes this season for the Kenny to get the press to get on board then so be it. (last season when Kenny had liverpool on a good run you would see him smile and play along with the press when they played ball)

    ReplyDelete
  62. Personally I think it's about time somebody told the press exactly who's in charge. From Souness' exclusive with The Scum, the constant Spice Boy baiting with Evans, Houllier's secret media briefings on players, Benitez's dirty laundry announcements in press conferences and Hodgson's puppy dog 'please love me' bollocks, we have treated the media as something bigger than the club. As if their approval is paramount to our existence. Kenny is going out there telling them that they are in fact bottom feeders. They go from week to week tryin g to identify a crisis club and trade on fans' anxieties and short termism. They should be treated as the parasites they are. If Everton won yesterday do you think the match would have still gone on after Wolves vs Newcastle? But we won so no crisis to drum up so they bury it. They try to turn the game into some reality tv, Keeping Up With The Fergusons rubbish and it's good that Kenny sets the tone: I'm the Daddy. If you want onformation from here on in, you play nice. If you want to talk crisis after two losses then you get nothing.

  63. So, KD responds to questions and you interpret with words
such as 'weary', 'tetchy', 'impatient' - Put your dagger away JK.  It's
called protection of the club, and galvanising of the players self
confidence.  It is exactly what other managers have done and it maintains
a far more upbeat attitude in the days before our next game.  In fact, I
suspect (probably too positively for your liking) that the players are thankful
for their manager looking out for them (unlike the previous incumbent).

Forget KD's press conference, I'm convinced your posts (because they are

  70. No, that's not what it's all about (IMO). Blind faith is dangerous and counter-productive.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Creating a siege mentality/victim mentality when there doesn't need to be one doesn't help, it only hinders things.  Did Benitez's rant against Ferguson help Liverpool in any way? No.  He played the victim, and things ultimately went down the pan.

    ReplyDelete
  72. "but it's only 7 games into the season; is he going to be stroppy and irritated for the next 8 months? Is that productive?"

If he chooses to deal with the press this way then so be it....as far as managing the team is concerned what does this have to do with being productive? As far as I'm concerned this has NOTHING to do with being productive.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I would argue that KD's approach to press conferences is counter-productive; breeding a defensive victim-mentality is never a good idea and it just creates a negative cloud over the club.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Actually Jaimie, I don't even know if you've seen the whole interview.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4CgQOAGw6w

They STARTED by asking him about the red card. that was the first question.
He responded, shocked that this was the first question in place.

After that he would obviously be annoyed. I do agree that the questions were positive afterwards, but they started the questions badly.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I would say that a Manager who :
    a) Protects his players from the glare of the press frontline.
    b) Exposes said journalists  when they keep asking the same old questions and try to re-ignite non-issues
    c) Embarasses said Journalsits infront of their peers
    d) And denies said press the ammunition they need to unsettle players and the club by making sensational stories based on half truths...
Is doing a brilliant job !
    Long may the "King" reign
Look at the best manager's in the world and they will take bullets from the press all day long if it means that their players are being protected
Kenny's handling of the press is brilliant.
Your views Kanwar, demonstrate your naivity
You obviously do not see the big picture here.

    ReplyDelete
  76. no ...... you don't get it at all do you , the very essence of what it is to be a liverpool fan?? 2-0 away derby win , and this is what you take from it ??? blind faith is what its aaaaaallllllllllll about , the true belief EVERY season that its gonna be ours ..... dangerous ? listen may i draw your attention to 2005 , Istanbul , and what the POWER of blind faith n devotion from our fans  invoked in that team to go back out there and preform the way they did .... ? blind faith is what makes you a fan , without it im afraid you're nothing but an observer ....

    ReplyDelete
  77. Why is it wrong to ask about the red card? it's a major incident in the game; arguably the most important. Obviously he's going to be asked about it. No need to get defensive about it - just answer the question. It's not an attack on Liverpool - no matter what teams are involved, the first question will always be about the most contentious decision in the game.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Being belligerent, combative and needlessly defensive is not 'brilliant' handling of the press.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Get over yourself. Blind faith is a negative thing, and that has been proven to be the case time and time again. It's called groupthink - check it out on wikipedia, and you'll see what I mean.

If you think blind faith is the way forward for you then that's fine, but just because others don't agree with it doesn't make them wrong, or lesser fans.

    ReplyDelete
  80. This approach is counter-productive, and creates a needless victim mentality. Protect the players when its needed; don't be defensive just for the hell of it. There was no need to 'protect' the players in yesterday's press conference; none of the questions were remotely negative.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I KNOW blind faith is what its all about because I go and stand in Anfield and away with the other apparently 'wrongly schooled' supporters and their blind undeviating faith and we raise the rafters on stadium after stadium with our singing and our 100% belief in our team .... always believing we can win , never writing them off .... why place your dubious support in a team you do not 100% believe in to the end ?? contradicts itself ..... tactical fan groupthink theories and whatever are ridiculous , its not all about the glory , its a feeling ya have deep down that makes you red ....this isnt battleship , I was born red because my dads a red , its about heritage , history and pride and the disrespect that the club ie players and managers are shown by people claiming to be red across the internet is appalling ..... this is not the Liverpool way in the slightest , i say it again ...2-0 derby win away , and this is what you took from it .... how can staying 100% behind your team through thick n thin be negative ??

    ReplyDelete
  82. Does alienating the media removes Mind Games from the manager's arsenal?

Does Mind Games ever work?Is KD doing this purposely?Whatever KD's intentions are we may only see the effect some time from now. What I know for a fact is that the media was not fond of LFC during the glory days of the 80s. The great LFC bosses of the 70s and 80s were always "cheeky" with the media. I know some reporters hated us so much they published stories calling LFC supporters murderers after Heysel and Hillsborough.

  83. Humour is always the best response when dealing with the media's obsessions and repetitiveness.  Interaction is part of the job and Kenny needs to keep them on-side. A bit of jovial banter will always get the point across in a more effective manner. No need to be grumpy. Go home and kick the cat if you have to.

  85. As a Manager, KD obviously sees the need and importance of
protecting both players and club from unwanted press speculation and needless sensationalism.
Dalglish is a master at nipping this sort of thing in the bud.

Remember the British Press just loves to build people up so that they can knock them down again.
The Power they have is tremendous.

Its obvious that we all want to see a Suarez-Carrol partnership thrive...
Do we want the press bleating on about it all the time adding pressure and expectation on them ? NO

So...with certain lines of questioning KD sees exactly where the press are coming from and slaps them down before it can start to root.

That's why I say if you don't see this then you are naive.

By doing this the onus is now on the "Press" to change their tactics and not on the manager to change his.

Dalglish controls Press Conferences with a no BS attitude...
Journalists think twice now before opening their mouths...
The message is clear...You can't get the better of us (LFC) neither on or off the pitch.! ...and he certainly is not going to entertain them trying to stir up shit.
Dalglish's attitude is strong and focused just like his team should be.

Is this attitude Productive or counter productive?
I think absolutely Productive...for all at LFC

Sorry KD is not sycophantic enough for you !
...or maybe....You were one of the Journo's he slapped down ?
    That must sting....ouch !

  86. Please, give the 'I go to Anfield so I'm a better fan than you' nonsense a rest. It's boring. You may not have realised this but Anfield has a finite capacity, and only a miniscule number of the club's fans can actually go to see games.

'Fans' like you are the problem, with your divisive attitude to non-Liverpool based fans. The worldwide fanbase is just as important as homegrown support, and without it, Liverpool Fc would wither and die.

Plus, by having such an ignorant attitude, you disrespect the hundreds of non-Liverpudlian players, managers and staff over the years who have made Liverpool great. The fact is, whether you like it or not, most LFC's success has been built on the shoulders of non-Liverpudlians.

If you don't like this site, then please head over to RAWK or This is Anfield and join all the other superfans.

  87. I actually appreciate Kenny's approach. Interviewers never seem to be offended, I think they expect. Ferguson does the same thing, because it keeps reporters in check.

If you oblige them too much, you can easily end up like Hodgson who was given just enough rope to hang himself by interviewers and journos- and you could be certain he would do just that. They would ask him about Joe Cole or Poulsen, to name two instances, and he would end up saying something like 'he's not a confident lad' and have to perform a u-turn days later when Cole rubbished the comment himself. With Poulsen he came out and built him up only to remark after the Wigan game 'he's not that bad on the ball'. The only person who can get away with these kind of gaffes is 'Arry because:

    1. He manages a London club.
    2. His son works for the major sports network on the continent and writes a column for The Mail.
    3. His nephew is a decorated England international for nearly a decade.

It could well backfire down the line him being this way, but Kenny being manager is good for the media. It has a romance to it, they can constantly infer things from his and our history, it basically allows them to rely on lazy platitudes and comparisons with bygone eras. His little one liners make for good copy too. They'd certainly be more cautious in attacking Kenny than Rafa or Roy (or any manager we've had since Dalglish for that matter).

  88. Sorry, but it's not being naive at all. You have your head in the sand, and you're not being objective.

Dalglish's press conferences are generally a dour, joyless affair, and he displays a superior 'I'm too good for this shit' attitude, which is not endearing at all.

It is not productive at all - needless defensiveness never is. You can easily turn every question asked into a positive. For example, when asked about the Carroll-Suarez partnership, Dalglish could've said any number of positive things about its development, but instead, he chose to be belligerent.

As we've seen, teams arguably end up taking on the characteristics of their manager. Arsenal, for example: Wenger is always moaning and acting like everyone is against Arsenal, and this is reflected in his team's poor disciplinary record and soft-centre.

Dalglish is cultivating a victim mentality at the moment, and this will backfire on Liverpool, just like it backfired on Benitez after his Ferguson rant.

  89. Kenny's always been a private person by nature, so the way that media intrusion has filtered into the game nowadays is probably for him the hardest part of management in the modern era. Alot of nonsense was spouted from many quarters about him 'being out of the game' too long before he was re-instated but being a manager first & foremost is what its about & his credentials for doing that job in the past is why he received the call from John Henry to manage again. How he deals with the scandal-seeking nature of today's media circus surely is entirely up to him.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Tosh.  Never a good word to say about the club you claim to support.  Very peculiar indeed.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Kenny knew suarez made a meal of the tackle, and he also knew it wasn't a red. It's funny how he sees the decisions that go against his side, but failed to see this one. He also refuses to watch it again, I wounder why? If you going to bad mouth ref's for doing your side a hardship, you should do it even if your side is the beneficiary.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Reading your article I had to scroll up to make sure I was on the right website you would think is was written by a anti red.

    ReplyDelete
  93. What is it with you always deleting comments (for example my comments from earlier)?

Don't you want alternative opinion that challenges your anti-Liverpool conjecture?  You might actually get some respect (and more website hits?) if you took some criticism on the chin, and bounce back from it.

Waiting AGAIN for my comments to be deleted...

  94. Is the douchebag writer a man united fan? Now how about I ask that every week regardless of what the answer is? would that be irritating? Would that be insensitive or attacking anyone? Its easy to write any old crap online and call it an article.

    ReplyDelete
  95.  My question is why are you such a kK hater and why dont you go support your real club man united because you are ob afraid of KK and his work at LFC and the though of LFC again replacing united at the top of the heap scared you beyond belief that you have to masquerade as an LFC supporter to make your anti liverpool comments sound valid.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Oh and this is irritation compared to SAF yelling "your looking for stupid little things" at a perfectly , even more valid questions by Cates. So as a united fan how do you defend that while attacking KD?

    ReplyDelete
  97.  Faith in a cause is never a negative thing dude. I'm surprised you haven't been taught/learned that. There is no such thing as blind faith. Either you have faith or you don't.

    ReplyDelete
  98.  Wow...seems like despite all your preaching about KK you get irritated pretty quick when someone gives you a great answer dont you? haha. Nice one hanna

  99. oh my word ........ is that what I said ?? is your interpretation really what i was saying or even the main point of my comment ? no , it was not , at no point did I claim to be a better a fan than anybody I was merely replying to your absurd and rather patronising comment that I should use Wikipedia as a basis for how I should tactically support my club ..... telling me I disrespect non-Liverpudlian managers and supporters?? I am sat in my living room as I type with a canvas of Billy Shankly on my for a start ,  do not try and preach to me about ignorance and disrespect when YOU are the author of this article .... how dare you try and turn this around on me and make out like i was launching an attack on non-Liverpudlian Reds (some of which are the most die-hard reds iv ever met FACT) , and also do not try and tell me my own history ....... fair weather pointless objective fans like YOU are the problem ...... I merely stated about Anfield as that's OBVIOUSLY where there are the most Reds gathered together at one time , and to support the fact that being red is about blind faith , Being a FAN of anything in life involves blind faith ..... and i have every right to discuss heritage when people like you insult and question my managers actions , The Liverpool Way (Shankly spoke of it more than once, Scottish weren't he?! yep) is that you do not disrespect the manager and players or 4get about where we come from and who brought us there and who we are , yet people like you flounce around the internet with your ridiculously jaded and overly-critical views of what being a red is and make a mockery of the Liverpool way and in turn of my proud heritage.

It is in fact you who has just insulted Liverpool and the scouse home grown fan base, so well done you ........ Wither and die ? Once again you epically miss the point.... that we could be relegated to the Sunday league and we'd still go and watch them on the back field ......... that non of this matters ???? wither and die with our history ??? ......... your grasp on the point of the game just ridiculous you know in fairness ......... Do not presume to tell me where I should join and what I should read .... for the 3rd time , we won a derby 2-0 away after being 16th n jst lost last season at this point ...and THIS is what you took first and foremost ????? your justification is laughable (TO OTHER READERS) JUST 2 SAY I WAS IN NO WAY INSULTING ANY NON-LIVERPUDLIAN REDS HERE IN THE SLIGHTEST OR GENERALISING , A SINGLE POINT WAS TAKEN FROM MY COMMENT AND MADE AN ISSUE OF, MUCH LOVE , IN KENNY WE TRUST YNWA REDS <3 JFT96 <3

  101. What is wrong with creating a siege/victim mentality. Fergie has been doing that for years and we all know how successful he is as a manager. He didn't speak to the BBC for years. How often has Fergie not answered question? How often has Wenger said that he didn't see it? Mourinho does it and he is the most successful manager of the last decade. I'd much rather KD carried on treating the media the way he does, rather than the way Harry Redknapp treats them. A day doesn't go by without Harry have his say about something or other.

At the end of the day KD cares about Liverpool and its fans first and foremost. And thats exactly the way it should be. The media have their role which is to ask questions, but if KD doesn't want to answer a question why should he have to. And if he wants to get irritated by some of the question then so be it. Bad refereeing decisions that work in our favour are not his problem so if he wants to ignore the question so be it. He asnwered the question by saying he didn;t see it. Ring any bells/ Harry Redknapp said exactly the same when asked about whether Van Der Vaart handles the ball in the lead up to the goal.

In almost every interview I've seen this season he has been asked about Carroll, purely because of the price tag. Does Fergie get asked about their £32m player (Berbatov) who sits on the bench in every game? Does Mancini get asked about Balotelli in every interview? Why not, they are expensive players too.

As KD said Carroll is part of the squad, and just because he was £35m he is no more important than any other player. As he pointed out Gerrard and Carragher cost nothing but are no less important to the squad. I think he did a great thing as that £35m price tag has been hanging over Carroll since he joined, and the sooner the media let go of the price tag issue the better it is for Carroll and Liverpool.

  102. The reporters had already asked Moyes about the red card, there was no need to ask dalglish as it didnt concern any of his players and it didnt concern our club,  and im wondering to myself how do idiots like you get a spot on a website writing that shit! Dalglish is the way he is with the press and he has been like that forever and i wouldnt want him to change. he has a right to be annoyed with the press considering every single press conference he gets asked the same questions!!

    ReplyDelete
  103. Ha. what a hypocrite. Rav asks a legitimate question. You don't like it and you give an obtuse answer. why not answer it? just like you expect Kenny to?

    ReplyDelete
  104. It's not a legitimate question; it's sniping. Additionally, he's been posting derogatory posts all over the shop (all now deleted), so I don't waste my time with people who can't be bothered to be civil.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Fair enough, if you have had to delete other posts for being derogatory. But in my honest opinion i felt the first question posed to Kenny was sniping a bit too. There was no need to lead with such negativity. The question was a fair one, but asking it straight off without focusing on the positives first i feel was a bit unfair.

    ReplyDelete
  106. For me, the problem with being belligerent and uncooperative with the press is that it creates a negative atmosphere around the club, and people end up hating you. Wenger and Ferguson both have reputations as arch-whiners, and they're disliked for that, and that extends to their teams as well. I wouldn't want Liverpool to become as disliked as Man United, or Kenny as maligned as Ferguson.

It's okay when you're winning the league every year because the glory of that mitigates the vitriol received from the fans/press; however, when you're perpetual underachievers like LFC in the league, it's a different story. A victim mentality appears, and the fans start to believe that everyone is against the team etc. It's not a good thing IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I always read your posts and have now came to realise you are extremely bias against Liverpool football club! And that's coming from an evertonian!
