Jose Enrique reveals the difference between training at Liverpool and Newcastle; his personal goals; the friendliness of the club's dressing room, and which players have been particularly helpful to him since he arrived at Anfield.
Enrique has been a refreshing surprise since arriving at Liverpool, and one thing he's very happy about is the way Liverpool trains:
"I feel it [Training] is a little bit harder, and I like that because when I played in Spain it was really hard too. When I played at Villarreal, I liked training like that.
A new dressing room filled with big names and personalities must be daunting for many players, but Enrique reveals that his integration into the squad has been easier than he expected:
"I know when I was at Newcastle I said all the time that it was a nice squad there, and when I came here I thought, it’s a big squad, it will be a more difficult dressing room maybe, but it’s not – it’s a really good dressing room, and everyone is together, and I like that".
Who has he been hanging out with since making the move from Newcastle?
"It’s normal, I think, to spend time with people who speak Spanish like me. When I cam here, the people who helped me more were Andy, of course, because I know him; Luis Suarez, and Maxi Rodrigues.
"When I started, it was difficult to get confidence...but now I think I’m really funny – I joke all the time with Luis and with Maxi! I love to play football, and you have to enjoy it"
Enrique went on to outline his personal goals at Liverpool:
"I signed to play in the Champions League with this club, and to try and go to the national team. If I cannot go [to the CL] this time I’ll still be happy. The national team is important but it’s extra; for me, the most important thing is the club".
Great stuff.

Have we signed players who will get us in the champiotn league this season...i personally think these players are not good enough to get us there yet...for the money spent..champion league is a must...and if we don't kenny should walk.
ReplyDeleteJudge at the end of the season ! The players haven't bedded in yet ! Patience is a virtue !
ReplyDeleteLOL are people now even slating ENRIQUE? Honestly? What more can you ask from this left back. He is absolute superb and a dream.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking we don't need supporters like you, mate.
ReplyDeleteHa!
ReplyDeleteDissent in the rank & file!
Mali - dont let the door hit your ass on the way out.
ReplyDeleteDiscombobulation springs to mind!
ReplyDeleteAll this money spent better garner a good return.
If dogleash can't get into europe being this well backed, then it's curtains.
Can manc buy the premiership, can liverpool buy back into europe?
typical response from a 2005 bandwagon jumper-problem with your type of fan is that you expect everything now without the hard work of a rebuild-i suggest if you want that mate you try supporting the blue half of manchester who think by throwing money at it they will fix their solution
ReplyDelete120 million aaaahahaha your back 4 is woeful, your manager throws massive money at average players, henderson 20 carroll 35 downing 20...ouch does that not prick at the back of your mind..hope this isnt your one time shot at getting back into the champions league!
ReplyDeleteEnrique is proving himself to be our best Summer buy. We have had the best start in years we just need to take our chances (rotate the forwards) except for the Spurs game we could of won every game this season.
ReplyDelete"for the money spent Champions League is a must and Kenny should walk" You mean £40-50m net? Are you for real??? How much did City spend and still take 2 years to reach Champ League net £300m (pure guess btw)?
ReplyDeleteAlso, what's with are all these people with extreme opinions and unrealistic demands? And it's still September for Christ sake! How about we moderate a little. End of the season, realistically, I'd like to see the team playing well together, good passing, movement and attacking football, Anfield a fortress again and a good fight for Champ League spot. If we don't achieve it, and don't get me wrong I'd be gutted, then let's reflect and see where we can improve and strengthen, but lets not start saying stupid things like Kenny should face the chop.
People need to start to have a bit more patience and be realistic about how long it might take us to get back.
is mali 341 the new jk !!!!! I hope he continues posting as it gives us all the chance to have a go !!! JK has turned over a new leaf
ReplyDeleteEnrique an absolute bargain at £5m. Jordan Henderson got boo'd when he played for Sunderland even the mackems didn't like him, they were over the moon to get £20m for him - they would've took £3m!! Carroll even more over the odds at £35m, plenty of potential there but not worth anywhere near that, I'd have sold him for £10m. Puts it into perspective when you could've got Aguero for the same price! Bit harsh thinking of getting rid of Kenny mind but I'd say Carrol + Henderson for £55m is probably £40m over the top and at the end of the day that comes down to him!
ReplyDeleteIt's still JK, he's simply using an Alias to protect his identity.
ReplyDeleteWanker
ReplyDeleteomfg, Mali...I may puzzle and get frustrated with Dalglish's decisions at times this season but come on, calling for his head after 6 games??? people have to realise that the managers train with these lads week in week out, he knows more than us, managing/coaching is much more complicated than just buying whoever you want and picking the first XI based on what you see on telly, there are many factors in it.
ReplyDeletegoalmouth, your mouth is as big as the goal. even if things don't work out with Dalglish, I believe he deserves more respect than that after what he did as a player, the manager in the 80's and as a selfless person for the victims
If you read my comment....i said if we don't get champion league having spent 130million in 2 transfer windows....then he should go
ReplyDeletekeep in mind...in the same period how much have Arsenal and spurs spent in the same period after all it is between us and them for the forth spot.....
We have out spent them so we should expect to finish above them...
As soon as Madrid or Barca come in for him, he'll be taking underhand swipes at your club as well. Mark my words..
ReplyDeleteI admit i was so wrong....thank you for waking me up....you are right .
ReplyDeleteKing kenny has pulled off master strokes.
Andy Carroll 35million is a bargain...his real value is 50million atleast
Henderson at 20million when his true value is over 30million
you are right we have saved at least 25million....
Welldone king kenny.
We may have out spent them recently, but we're not starting from the same position as them and instead we're playing catch-up. It's too simplistic to simply compare spend in any 1 year. Does this mean we should also finish above Utd? What about investment made by Spurs in the last few years? What about the fact that they have a more settled team with more experience of playing together a top level? Again, please can we calm down and see Liverpool's re-build in the medium to long term. In the short-term, lets just get behind the team.
ReplyDeleteLastly, I know it's tempting and adds gravitas to shout gross spend, but last season we lost one of the top strikers in the World last year (even if he has struggled in since his move), the best defensive midfielder in the World (now the shortest centre back in the World), and a few weeks ago one of our best performing midfielders. Simply stating gross spend takes no account of the quality that has been lost and with it experience and strength in depth that needs to be replaced.
not necessarily true the manager has a huge input on how the players perform together.and how they get along...and as for who goes where who cares as long is not Luis.
ReplyDelete"It’s a really good dressing room, and everyone is together, and I like that"
ReplyDeleteIs n't that the part of the interview you should of focused on and not the negative part for a headline!
Do you write for THE SUN!
Walk after 1 season....The king !!!, your be saying you want Woy back next wontcha........LFC is for life not just for xmas .
ReplyDeleteNo batman buying good players with the money fixes the problem
ReplyDeletewe have bought shite players, adam, henderson and carrol.
Asd spot on enrique is pure class!
ReplyDeleteGoalmouth f..k off and dont come back to our site you blue nose wanker
ReplyDeleteI totalt agere half of the players Are not good enougj, i dont Think they Will Even give us a 4th place. We need players with experience too many yOung playrs that Will not give us anything
ReplyDeleteWhat JJ said. Mali, your comment shows that you've only been following Liverpool since last January. You've taken this spending out of context; all these years, our club have been raped by those two cowboys and we've been lacking squad depth since 4 years ago. Both Rafa and Roy have to sell to buy was the proof, the quality/quantity of their signing is another topic which I will not delve into right now. What FSG said was these massive spending is required just to bring us back on par with the top clubs. It takes time to settle players and we may see a few players traded to find the right combination. We do have the depth and now and my only question mark for Dalglish is why aren't we using the full depth of the squad? Is the target for this season to get into top four or nurturing young players?
ReplyDeleteA lot of people don't realise that with the amount of money pump into football, inflation is bound to happen, this is simply economics supply and demand. Off the top of my head, Carroll's price would be similar to Shearer's when he moved to Newcastle. I can't deny that it is still a massive amount and so is Henderson's 20M.
The bottom line is, we have, from the top to the bottom of the hierarchy, stability and ambition. From owners, executives, manager, coaching personnel, to players who are ambitious and wants to stay at the club for the right reasons and these people have the credibility. Have we taken this stability for granted already? Have we forgotten the days when tea cups being thrown in dressing room, spice boys parading Armani suits, joint-managers fighting among each other, manager fighting against owners, and manager fighting against fans?
For once, I really appreciate that at least we only need to worry about issues on the field, not worrying about dragging our arses to the court and show our dirty laundry to the whole world
it's alright, we'll milk Madrid or Barca out of him ;)
ReplyDeleteEven if the team dont make it to top 4, I will still be backing King Kenny. You dont remove a legend. If the legendary King cant push us up to challenge for the title, who can? You mean bringing in a Mourinho gonna make a difference? Look at Scolari...world class manager, world cup winner.. flop at Chelsea. Dont be ridiculous. King Kenny is our best bet. Stick with him or support other team. Ciao.
