Daniel Agger's agent has revealed the full extent of the defender's latest injury.
Agger's agent, Per Steffenson told Danish newspaper Elkstra Bladet the following:
"He [Agger] has been for a scan, and he has two broken ribs. He must rest for four weeks, and then he can return to training. It's a big blow for him, especially since his time at Liverpool has been plagued by injuries so far".
So there you have it - Daniel Agger is injured again. To be fair though, there's not much he could've done about two broken ribs, and the positive thing is that it's not a recurrence of an old injury.
It looks like Sebastian Coates will be getting a lot of pitch time over the next month. Depending on how he performs, Agger may even struggle to get his place back.

Will wait on this great player to return for LFC.
ReplyDeleteAgger won't struggl to get back in the team. If Coates performs well it could well be Carra that will fund himself on the bench.
ReplyDeleteIf Carra and Coates turn out to be a formidable force then the injury prone player (Agger) will be replaced and Agger's replacement will then partner Coates once Carra retires. This will turn out to be a fact. Watch this space!
ReplyDeleteSadly it could be the end of the line for Danny
ReplyDeleteBroken ribs is an easy heal. No long term niggling problems with this one. He'll be back but may well have to win his place back.
ReplyDeleteIf he manages to get into the team after this injury then 3 matches later he will be injured again. Don't get me wrong, he is a very good player but why do we persist with a player like this?
ReplyDeleteI hear you, but it's not like he's "Man of Glass" Aurelio. He has his reputation now so we'll have to see if it sticks.
ReplyDeleteAgger 05/06 till present has played 98 EPL matches.
ReplyDeleteAurelio 06/07 till present has played 85 EPL matches.
This clearly shows that both are made of glass.
But there was more competition for CB while LB was a gaping hole. That had an impact on the number of appearances too.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's my perception. I see Agger hurt himself throwing himself about, while Aurelio hurts himself just running. Perhaps I'm more inclined to back a player who picks up his injuries giving his all for his club, as opposed to one who has fitness issues.
I am a huge Agger fan and cannot wait until he is fit again. Like Jaimie said this injury was unlucky and not a recurrence and if he was in a last chance salloon situation then this should not count against him. His calm and composure on the ball and his desire to get forward or make a telling pass are exactly what we need. I agree with YNWA that it will be carra under pressure for his place if Coates performs
ReplyDeleteWish it was carragher who got injured ...that's the only way we will get rid of this out of date player
ReplyDeleteThrowing himself about? It looked like he was making a regular turn on the ball, slipped and somehow his body decided to shatter at the impact of hitting the grass from that remarkable height! I'm as much a fan of Agger as anybody else (actually, that's a lie - I jumped off of the bandwagon and now just regard him as a very good but replaceable centreback, rather than the world class ball playing centreback that his fanboys still believe him to be) but it looks like you're just refusing to believe what you actually see in this regard...
