When it comes to managing the football side of things, who is the most important person at Anfield? Obviously, the answer is Kenny Dalglish, and I'm sure every fan would agree. However, according to Liverpool's official website, Damien Commolli is (seemingly) top dog at Anfield.
I was browsing the LFC website earlier and came across the following on the 'First Team' page:
As you can see, Commolli's name comes before Dalglish's in the managerial hierarchy, which is clearly in order of importance. Then, if you look at the drop-down for profiles, we find this:
Again, Dalglish is relegated to second spot, below Commolli.
I'm not quite sure why Commolli's name is even on the First Team page when he has absolutely nothing to do with managing the training/tactics/team selection etc. Whatever the reason, there's no way Commolli deserves to be ahead of Liverpool's legendary manager in the hierarchy.
This may seem like a trivial issue, and I'm sure the ever-humble Dalglish wouldn't care in the slightest, but it just seems wrong to me. AC Milan and Barcelona both have a Director of Football but their names are nowhere to be seen on the team pages of their respective websites.
This is no accident; everything is arranged on a website deliberately, and for a specific reason. The question is, who made the decision to put Commolli ahead of Dalglish?
Whoever it was, it was clearly not a Liverpool fan with any sense of the club's history.
I personally want to see the page rectified: Commolli's name should be removed, and Dalglish's should be returned to top spot in the first team hierarchy, which is exactly where it belongs.
Let's start a petition! ;-)
EDIT: For the love of god, this is supposed to be a lighthearted observation, not a deadly-serious criticism of the official site. Get over it!

Get over it, i couldn't care less.. Comolli has done alot for the team since he has arrived, he is head of scouting and developement also. Comolli is as close to the players as Dalglish, If you watch all the videos off the LFC online, Comolli is present at all the unveilings, all the melwood arrivals for new players and he is the one who does the contracts. Like Kenny cares? As long as Liverpool are doing well we shouldn't care less. Its a simple span of controll, the director is always above the manager, it is just a label.
ReplyDeleteI'll second your emotion, KK should always be first.
ReplyDeleteyou are making a mountain out of molehill.
ReplyDeleteyou are making a mountain out of molehill.
ReplyDeletedont be a d*** all your life
ReplyDeletedoes it matter? Better having Kenny there than your mate Roy!
ReplyDeleteDalglish as Manager reports into Commolli as Director of Football. Commolli is his boss and in a large part reponsible for the decision to give him the job. That explains the hierarchy.
ReplyDeleteAs for involvement in first team affairs, Commolli signs the players and negotiates the contracts! He did this at Spurs and he does this at Liverpool. Sure, Kenny will have a strong say in transfers (both in and out), but Commolli does the deals. Pretty sure that constitues being involved.
The layout of the names has them level, so someone has obviously thought about it. The fact that in the list format you can't have two names level means that they have made the obvious decision to put the "Director" above the "Manager".
Do you really think that people are that bothered? I can tell you one thing for certain: Dalglish couldn't give a toss about who's name appears where as long as Liverpool win football matches!
So Comolli gets fired first if things don't well I suppose
ReplyDeleteJamie- stop stirring..... You have recently improved your attitude in my opinion since Rafa left, and started making some valid points. This is a slide back to the bad old days, when I stopped even looking at what you had to say.
ReplyDeleteNobody cares, LFC is a TEAM. Players, Staff, Fans.
Obviously Comolli has a bigger responsibility as Director of Football. The title says it all and its not a secret
ReplyDeletei reckon it's rafa's fault!
ReplyDeleteWho cares, anyway in terms of a business structure, Commolli would come above Dalglish as he over looks more areas of the organisation.
ReplyDelete
Did I say in the article that people should be bothered?! It's just a light-hearted observation, as evidenced by the joky petition line at the end of the post.
ReplyDeleteI noticed that while we had our mini revival under dalglish last season you seemed to have nothing to post about. Were things going too well for us? You seem to only enjoy posting negative articles? in fact your last post was in defence of Roy hodgson after the newcastle defeat. You didnt have anything to say about blackburn and wolves? i thought you might have seen the light when you didnt post again untill the new season was approaching in august. But now I understand the best way to get comments and pageviews on your site is to disagree with the majority, or to peddle your negativity. Normally i would glance at this article and continue browsing, but today you seem desperate. Maybe you should be an arsenal fan for the rest of the season? Or till something goes wrong at lfc.
ReplyDeleteJust stumbled onto the site from the News Now feed and forgot how ridiculous it was - and still appears to be.
ReplyDeleteAny self respecting fan should steer clear and leave this one for knobheads
Of course it's Rafa's fault - that goes without saying :-D
ReplyDeleteHow many times? Please read the comment policy: any post that contains derogatory/ad hominem comments will be deleted. If you disagree with something on the site that's fine - just do so in the right way.
ReplyDeleteI disagree - for me, the manager always has the bigger responisbility. KD is the one who will get it in the nexk if things fail on the pitch, not Commolli. And when it comes to ensuring success on the field, which leads to increrased revenue for the club, KD is the most important managerial presence at the club.
ReplyDeletePointless article. People often accuse Dalglish of living in the past when really it's the fans. Football has moved on and so with it has the structure of the club. Comolli is Dalglish's boss. End of. Get over it.
ReplyDeleteAs for you Jaimie K....you need to get laid mate.
Then your sense of humour must be very dry, bordering on arid, if this many people didn't get your intentions.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what you're saying for the most part about who really delivers and who will be held accountable, but I disagree with two of your main points.
"I'm not quite sure why Commolli's name is even on the First Team page when he has absolutely nothing to do with managing the training/tactics/team selection etc." - he buys the players and manages their contracts. "Whatever the reason, there's no way Commolli deserves to be ahead of Liverpool's legendary manager in the hierarchy." - why not, he's his boss. Anyway, everyone's entitled to their opinion as long as it's the same as mine ;)
Scandalous. Where do i sign? ;)
ReplyDeleteGood to have you back Jamie! My coffee breaks are the better for it.

'Anyway, everyone's entitled to their opinion as long as it's the same as mine'
ReplyDeleteWords to live by ;)
The only logical reason may be the Latin alphabet, where C (Commolli) in front of D(Dalglish). Although it seems very doubtful.
ReplyDeleteI am not surprised. Commolli has the full backing of the owners. The owners have respected Dalglish and have not interfered with his running of the team and acquision of players. The time the team is not performing as it should, then, Dalglish and everyone at Liverpool would know who has tthe most authority between the two; especially after Dalglish has been left alone to pursue the players that he wants.
ReplyDeleteKK would only work under the conditions that he is comfortable with
ReplyDeleteI'd say he's pretty happy, given the signings that have come in
Fingers crossed we can at least reach top 4 this year
Brad Jones is no 1 !!! he is not even the 2nd choice keeper !!! :-P
ReplyDeleteHow do you expect people to know you are joking when you constantly posts doom and gloom stories. How about you write a positive article about the club for once? Perhaps outline your reasons for loving Roy Hodgson so much?
ReplyDeleteWould any of you guys join in with Manc supporters cussing our team??
ReplyDeleteWell Jamie did on His Facebook page and since getting caught nobody follows his bull... So If you love LFC I suggest you don't use this Manc site....
Did you notice how he disappeared just after KK came in? Nothing positive to write then?
And now he's back just with nobody following except a few who obviously don't know your game,
Google him!
This the real kanwar

Lol it's not nice seeing shit written is it?

ReplyDeleteJaimie - Stop being so negative towards the new LFC!!!!
How about doing a article like FSG vs Hicks/Gillett. You can do in-depth analysis/critical realisms about how FSG is doing things the right way and how the other two were SO BAD for LFC!!!!!!!! Just a thought...

I think it does'nt matter to kenny as he is the no 1 player who shook the kop, he is the only manager to scare the shit out of fergie, and can summon the best out of players and fans by simply opening his mouth or gracing a pitch. Who cares who is above him, there is no one that has that sort of power at liverpool as he is liverpool.
ReplyDeleteYawn
ReplyDeleteHave you never thought that the listing is alphabetical within the limits of the club structure (C comes before D) Then there is Clarke & Keene before Acterberg, and so on down through the management structure. Problem solved Simples!!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree Comolli is more important than Kenny to his wife.
ReplyDeleteFunny, i just read 2 post from this blog, but those 2 are non-sense and a lot of crap.
