Anfield Blow: Klopp confirms £46m Liverpool-duo are injured; admits there's 'no chance' of quick return

Prior to the weekend, Liverpool had only two players on the injury list, but during the Reds' 2-1 victory over Swansea, the club's injury curse hit back with a vengeance.

Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren both went off injured during the game, and in his post-match press conference, Jurgen Klopp offered the following update:

“It is a groin injury for both players. Adam felt it, tried it again and it didn’t work. In this moment they have no chance for the national teams".

If injuries are to happen, then - from a club perspective - the eve of an international break is the ideal time for players to pick up injuries.

Lovren and Lallana now have sixteen days to recover from their respective groin issues, and unless they're muscle tears, both players should be ready to return for the Reds's crunch clash with Manchester United.

It's a blow for Lallana, who is the midst of (arguably) his best period of form since signing for Liverpool, and with any luck, this injury setback will not derail his fine start to the season.

* Lovren/Lallana: Combined cost = £46m
