Great News: Massive injury boost for Liverpool after update on 'fantastic' £55k-a-week star

After victory against Leicester, three points against Chelsea this week will lay a strong foundation for Liverpool to launch an assault on the top four, and ahead of Friday's trip to Stamford Bridge, the Reds have received some potentially good news.

According to a statement on Chelsea's official website today:

"John Terry’s injury suffered at Swansea is strained ligaments in his foot. He will be out for approximately 10 days".

This obviously means that Terry will miss Friday's game with Liverpool, and with David Luiz - variously described by Reds legend Alan Hansen as 'diabolical', 'farcical', and 'ridiculous' - set to deputise, this development can only be seen as a win-win situation for the Reds.

Terry - who reportedly took a £95k-a-week pay cut to stay at Chelsea - may be reviled by football fans for his various indiscretions over the years, but even at 35, he remains a top-class defender, and a bona-fide leader of men, so his absence can only be negative for Antonio Conte's team.

One thing's for sure, you won't find Terry prancing about in a Nivea advert like Lallana, Henderson, and Coutinho. Real men don't advertise moisturiser, and like Carra, Terry is a dying breed in the English game.

* Feb 2016: Hailed as 'fantastic' by Jamie Redknapp.
