Yes Please: Liverpool ready to sign 'world-class' £80k-a-week playmaker who's 'like Roy Keane'

Last season, Anfield legend Jan Molby urged Brendan Rodgers to sign ex-PSG midfielder Yohann Cabaye, but Liverpool ended up signing James Milner instead, and Cabaye ended up at Crystal Palace. Despite the presence of Cabaye, Palace are on a downward spiral in the league, and new reports suggest that the Reds are waiting in the wings to poach the France international this summer.

Liverpool were last linked with Cabaye - hailed as 'World class' by Alan Pardew - during the January 2015 transfer window, and at the time, Molby told TV3sport:

"If Yohan Cabaye is available, then Liverpool must seriously consider signing him. The club needs to think about a long lasting solution [to Gerrard]"

Liverpool fans were also enthusiastic about the possibility, and at the time as Molby's comments, I conducted a poll on the site asking if the Reds should sign Cabaye. 79% of participants voted YES to the transfer.

Well, those fans may get their wish this summer. According to the Liverpool Daily Post today:

"Yohan Cabaye has become unsettled at Crystal Palace [and] could be on his way to Anfield [this summer]".

With 8 goals/assists this season (on every 306 mins) Cabaye is not a prolific goalscorer/creator, but neither is Emre Can, and I'd take Cabaye over Can in a New York minute..

Cabaye - reportedly on £80k-a-week at Palace - may be 30, but he remains influential, and according to Alan Pardew:

"He [Cabaye] can smell what to do at the right time. It’s very important for a manager to have a lieutenant like that. Like Roy Keane at Manchester United".

A viable target this summer?
