Anfield-bound? Liverpool free to sign 'exciting' €20m attacker who idolises 'Ronaldo'. Fee confirmed by Lille

'Exciting' Lille attacker Sofiane Boufal is reportedly high on Jurgen Klopp's transfer wish-list, and after a new development, Liverpool's chances of signing the coveted 22-year old attacker appear to have improved exponentially.

Liverpool were linked with Boufal during the January transfer window, and according to a recent report in the Daily Express:

* Liverpool and Arsenal are considering summer deals for Boufal.

* Reds scouts have been 'tracking' Boufal all season.

On Sunday, Sky Sports claimed:

"Lille attacking midfielder Sofiane Boufal is set to leave the club at the end of the season".

When asked recently about Liverpool's interest, Lille Director Jean-Michel Vandamme told reporters:

"In June, it's possible that he [Boufal] may leave. There are Premier League clubs after him. Boufal costs at least €20m, that's the minimum

When asked in October about a move abroad, Boufal told France Football:

"I plan to go later in my career to a big European club that will play hopefully in the Champions League, in order to continue my progression".

Some info about Boufal:

* Right winger, who can also play on the left, and as a number-10.

* This season: 9 goals/assists in 25 apps (One every 215 mins).

* Career total: 28 goals/assists in 92 apps (One every 221 mins)

* Nicknamed 'the new Hazard' (just like every other promising Ligue One attacker).

* On his role models: "My biggest inspiration is Ronaldinho. For me, he is the best player of all time".

Thanks, but no thanks. For £20m, Boufal's minutes per goal/assist ratio just isn't good enough, especially when there are significantly more prolific players available for the same price (i.e. Yarmolenko).

Additionally, Boufal is yet another small attacker, and Liverpool already have too many physically unimposing players. Some variety is needed, and that (IMO) means signing a couple of tall, physically imposing AMs to complement the likes of Coutinho, Ibe, Firmino etc.
