The end is nigh: John W. Henry in Kenny Dalglish handshake snub...

In a moment of supreme irony, Liverpool principal owner John W. Henry neglected to shake Kenny Dalglish's hand during the post-match medal presentation at Wembley on Saturday.

As is customary in the FA Cup Final, the losers receive their consolation medals prior to the presentation of the cup.

On Saturday, Liverpool's players trudged up to the Royal Box to receive their losers medals, and as you can see below, Henry shook Steven Gerrard's hand as he went by:

Moments later, Dalglish walked by, and stone-faced Henry seemed to ignore the Liverpool manager, and failed to offer his hand:

The Liverpool Daily Post carried the same picture and made direct reference to the incident in their caption, which stated: "John Henry and Kenny Dalglish pass each other".

It's pretty poor form for Liverpool's owner to refuse to shake the manager's hand, even though I can understand his disappointment with the final defeat, and the overall poor season.

Earlier in the week, Henry revealed his frustration with Liverpool's profligacy in the transfer market, and after yesterday's handshake snub, things are not looking good for Dalglish.

  2. Exactly mate...does anybody realise that gerrard was playing as a holding midfielder rafa made gerrard go from 2 or 3 goals a season to 20+ goals a season...carragher was playin at left back...rafa moved him into centre of defence...he became the most solid reliable cd in the world...hypia got more goals wen rafa arrived...people say we played boring negative football under rafa...yet we scored bags of goals each year...excellant european managrrs quoted lfc as running like duracell bunnies and ohhh rafa outdid me with his tactics hahaha....this is the man we need back

I WUD TRUST RAFA NO PROBLEM IF IT WAS MY MONEY...BRING BACK RAFA ASAP <3 <3 <3 <3

  3. You are incorrect. Ferguson joined in Nov. 1986 and United finished 11th in 1987. Just for the record: it took Fergie more than three and a half seasons to win his first trophy and more than five and a half seasons to win his first title. Had the United board shown the same impatience as you so called fans out there, then one can only guess at what would have happened. After more than four and a half years he 'lost' the title to Leeds United, managed by the 'iconic' Howard Wilkinson. Who?

David Meek, now one of Fergie's greatest fans, was at the forefront of the 'sack him' campaign at the Manchester Evening News. It is reputed that a late, very late, equaliser in an FA Cup tie saved his job, although the chairman at the time disputes that-but he would say that, wouldn't he.

What really amuses me is that the so called fans, or 'hindsight wallies', as I prefer to call them, who slagged off Kenny for not playing Carroll from the start, are pretty much the same ones who referred to him as a 'donkey' and screamed for him to be sold at the end of the season.
    Patience, gentlemen, patience.

  9. I feel for Dalglish because he has tried to introduce new players into our first team. On top of that we lost Lucas to injury. Now that loss can not be underestimated. This thrust Jay Spearing into the team.  suarez's season was disrupted for 8 games, albeit by his own making. So many factors have contributed to our poor form this season - not to mention our complete wastefulness in front of goal. We can create the chances, which is at least a positive. We miss way too many though.
I wonder how good our coaches are now? The defensive side is fine- good actually. Clarke is great at what he does- tactics and defending.
I don't know what to say. I can't stand another season this poor, but Dalglish could be on to something because its only our finishing that really needs improving. If we score, we win more games. If we win more games, the players get more confident to express themselves. Its like a line of dominoes.....
What managers are there out there anyway now? Martinez? Rodgers? Who can say whether they can improve things? Its another risk either way. If rafa did come back I hope he brings his number 2 Paco with him. Under Rafa we won champs league with (on paper) an average team. We finished 2nd one season. Fa cup against west ham. Also Rafa wanted to buy quality players. This was thwarted by Hicks and Gillet. He can definitely spot a player on the whole if the owners are prepared to back him. He wanted to buy jovetic at one point but we couldn't afford it. He bought Reina, Torres, Alonso, Mascherano.
We have gone from Mascherano and Alonso to Spearing and henderson!!!!! Charlie Adam isn't the player he was at blackpool. He was top dog there, but its different at LFC. I don't think he can handle the pressure of the club/expectations on a regular basis. Neither can downing. He is 27/28 years and experienced in perm, but hasn't set up one goal in league that i am aware of. Not good enough. Adam Johnson would be a great replacement/addition.
Another prob we have is we won't be able to attract top stars just yet. Unless our history still holds power of influence amongst players? We prob have to look at similar placed teams in europe and nick their star players or players out of favour at clubs... but there are still plenty of those to try and sign:
Fiorentina are struggling this season - Jovetic (AMC/STRK) and Vargas(LB/LM)
Toulouse: Moussa Sissoko (DCM). Capoue(DCM). Rennes: M'Vila(DCM). Marseille: Remy (STRK). Bologna : Ramirez. Benfica:Gaitan Porto: Hulk, JAmes Rodriguez. Fc Twente: Luuk De Jong. Atletico Madrid: Javi Martinez (DCM). Suasaeta (RW/LW) Real Madrid : Granero (AM), Canales (AMC)

  10. He did screw up in the transfer market and also in the overall handling of the team.

But, the owner shouldn't have acted this way !!He is unfamiliar in football, he brought Comoli and put Kenny in charge and it lead to this, anyway new manager is required but Kenny Dalglish must be respected .We have one positive note to take from the final, at least Carroll looks good now and with proper management he will come good for LFC. Liverpool has better team than Newcastle and Arsenal even, but new manager and some more investment is required. If these owners thought it will be pay 1 $ get 2$, then 4$ next season etc. they are in the wrong business .
Football is never a sure thing and let's face it, if you look at sold and bought  these owners didn't invest heavily and I have been saying it since the transfer window ended in summer .

KK has won the league three times, fa cup and carling cups id liek to knwo what manager has more exp and a better record than him we can have , please dont say Rafa i think the owners will want a younger manager who will bring in a better style, saying that rafa did alot of work witht he academy. but he kind of went mad in the end playing people out of positions and bad PR.

  19. The midfield we had of Gerrard, Alonso, Mascherano was head and shoulders above any midfeild in the premier league in 08/09. I'd say it was stronger than Barca's midfield that year to. The way we steam-rollered Madrid that season at Anfield was testament to how good it was. Now I am too young to compare to the midfielders you are talking about Titi_Camara but I'd like to bet it's up there. Mascherano was immense at the job he did.

OK then, we have Chelsea at home tomorrow night.  Let's see if the lads have the heart to make amends.  It isn't every day you have the opportunity to make up for such a poor showing straight away.  It'll also be interesting to see if Carroll's heroics on Saturday were not just a flash in the pan.

Kenny can learn a little something from Mancini.  The Man city manager started of his career there worrying far to much about nullifying the opposition.  Now he says "screw it!", I you want some, come get some!".  He has faith in his players to destroy whoever they play.  If Kenny trusts his players so much he should let the opposition worry about us by being more expanisve with his tactics.  If your going to fail, you may as well fail in a blaze of glory as apposed to Saturdays whipmer.

  30. What the hell is up with you people, we are not Chelski or any other club that changes their manager as often as they change their pants. What Kenny is attempting to do cannot be done in one season, take a look at Man City as an example, it's taken them the best part of 4 seasons and shed loads of money to get where they have this season. Judge Kenny by the end of the next couple of seasons...not just one !!!...and as for Rafa you jokers, I'll give you one example.....Alonso for Barry....really....I rest my case. YNWA

  31. Laughable comments, Carra is a rotten apple at the Club????

Your so out of touch with reality it just beggars belief, idiots like you who are lusting for rafa do not understand this Club at all....

IMO rafa stands for everything that i despise in the game, neagtive tactics, defensive/counter attack boring control freak football wherby ALL effort is concentrated into stifling the opposition as opposed to actually trying to play the game....

rafa is tactically a coward, his football reflects that and ALL of those fools wanting him back are the main reason this Club is in the mess it is IMO, you cannot accept the fact that there are better more suitable candidates for the job than rafa, his style of football is predictable and mind numbingly boring to watch the antithesis of what i consider REAL football to be about...

Lets not forget also that rafa is ALWAYS the victim....and THAT kind of mentality is something that we should be looking to move on from ESP after this season which has seen the Club embroiled in enough bad publicity and press etc...

Lets not also forget the mans utter arrogance and manipulative PR speak, never fails to amaze me how totally and utterly naive some LFC fans are, lapping up every word like it was written in their soul....

Unbelievable that he stills has a hold over this fanbase, i am sick and tired of hearing the mans name again let alone having to think about the dreadful prospect of this questionable character with the big gobshite press loving ego that he is...

IF THERE IS ANYTHING ROTTEN AT THIS CLUB IT IS REINA SUAREZ ENRIQUE WHO THREW THE FINAL SO TO GET RAFA BACK.....

Now thats fcuking ROTTEN apples for you.....

  34. Just finished Brian Reade's book, "44 months with a pair of Cowboys", and even with the relatively poor season we have had to endure, I would still rather us be where we are now to the Abyss we found ourselves in back then under those two Cretins. I can't wait for the summer. The new kit, which is sure to be interesting and the possibility of righting the wrongs made by Kenny and Comolli in the last transfer window. If this means a change of manager then i'm all for it but, would Rafa really be the answer? He made some mistakes during his last tenure, which involved going head to head with those above him -rightly or wrongly- and blaming everyone else but himself.

Sure, Rafa would be a cheap option and probably a safe option due to his knowledge of the club, fans and players but is it really the best option? There are those wonderful nights in Europe, but then there are those dire transfer decisions like Aquilani who he brought in as Alonso's replacement, was injured and never featured until the back end of the season. Also we at times when we really needed to go for the 3 points, he set the team out negatively and we just managed a possible one point against teams at home we should be pasting. Then there is his man management issues too. In Brian's book he said Rafa would bring certain things up in front of players that he shouldn't, especially ammo he was using against the Owners. His dealings with Alonso and his decision to try force him out and replace him with the distinctly average Gareth Barry. What happens if he has an argument with the new owners? will he try and start a civil war in the papers? Will he try and alienate the players? He loves the club, but sometimes he tried to fight the wrong battles and at inconvenient times. I don't think he will be the right replacment.

I would love to see Guus Hiddink replace Kenny, but that may be problematic. If not then Valencia manager Unai Eremy. Tactically good, has an eye for a good player and he seems to be a decent man manager too. He is leaving Valencia at the end of the season. The Valencia Board seem to think they should be doing better even though they have sold Mata, David Silva and David Villa over the last 2 years. He won't cost anything to bring in so why not?

  35. 10 years ago winnig a cup and reaching the final of another wouold have been a great achievement for any club but not it's all about the champions league - well manu had years of a start re spending loads of mega money buys, chelsea have spent massive amounts as have city, so all the rest are fighting for one place in the top 4 get real Mr HENRY and yuo lot on here.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Sorry, lads, but I have read so much misinformation on here that it is time for a reality check. Ron Atkinson did a reasonable job at United, taking them regularly to 3rd/4th and winning the FA Cup twice ( 83 and 85), but after a disastrous start to the 86/87 season, 15 points from 15 games, he was replaced by Fergie on Nov 6 1986.He 'steadied the ship' and took United to 11th place. The following season, 87/88, he took the club to 2nd place, 9points behind LFC, managed by none other than KD.
it was looking good for him but the next season was a comparative disaster and United were back in 11th place at the end of 88/89. He was now spending really big money but, initially, it did not pay off and, when United went through a sequence of 6 defeats in 8 games, a banner appeared at Old Trafford, 'THREE YEARS OF EXCUSES AND IT'S STILL CRAP. TA RA FERGIE'. The knives were out but the board remained patient: United scraped past Forest in the FA Cup, won it, followed it up with the Cup Winners Cup in 1991 and a zillion trophies later Fergie is still there.
The narrative above has a familiar ring; KD took over LFC in 12th place and took the team to 6th and still had a chance of CL qualification until the last few games. He made several big buys, all of whom had looked good with their previous clubs ( e.g., Charlie Adam, 12 goals for Blackpool from midfield ) but the season that followed has been a major disappointment. As another example, I see similarities between Lucas and Henderson. Sometimes when expectations rise performances do not match them and some players, especially the younger ones take a long time to settle in. The very people who slagged off Lucas are amongst those bemoaning his loss for most of the season.
As my 'moniker' suggests I have supported LFC for nigh on 60 years and the best football I ever witnessed was played by the team managed by Kenny Dalglish in the late 80s. I have seen flashes of that sort of quality this season e.g., against Arsenal, but unfortunately it has not been sustained. I am not letting my heart rule my head when I stae categorically that Kenny deserves more time.

    ReplyDelete
  37. John Henry was out of order last night, i saw that pic and it changed my view of Henry quite a bit tbh, he is arrogant IMO, the way he is looking past Kenny who is slumped over a bit and obviously gutted and Carra (who's heart for LFC cannot be questioned) is abhorrent.

They deserve more respect than that, who the fcuk does Johnm Henry think he is FFS......????

Standing there all high and mighty as if he understands ANYTHING about the Club......snubbing 2 legends who have worked tirelessly to further the cause of LFC in their own respective ways....

I agree with Jamie that he has a right to be dissapointed etc but to do THAT was nothing short of a disgrace, the man is a complete and utter areshole IMO, just in it for the money, he should remember that it was his choice to reinstate Kenny, it was his choice to sanction the money spent also and IF he knew ANYTHING  about football instead of hiring others to do the hard part then what does he fcuking expect the twat!!!!

Show some fcuking respect Mr Henry, you don't understand whats been going on at the Club, you are a blinkered idiot receiving your info from dubious sources who have agenda's to reinstate El Bastardo...

  41. Stop comparing him to Fergie with your highly selective stats. Fergie finished 11th after inheriting united in 21st place. In His first full season he finished 2nd, and made multiple signings his first summer that proved to be great for Manchester united. Kenny has done horribly in the transfer market and did not finish 2nd. No comparison. He wasted at least 50m and few players publicly praise him. No sign that Kenny is a smart and progressive manager, but many signs that he's stubborn, out of touch, and in denial

  43. Yes , it was a big mistake. And the gamble that aquilani and johnson would compensate for the sell. However, he could do no more with the owners in place. The club was on the brink of administration .... Which part of it is hard to understand? No club finishes top 4 when is about to be repossessed and with the worst owners on earth. Asking rafa to achieve more (title challenge anyone) by the media, brainwashed some of our fans...hence lost his job to Roy.
Some people talk of city money bags!!! You are a bunch of jokers. How about lfc the moneybags. 110 million in a season spent. It's incredible!!! Truly. Chelsea, city, Madrid , barca of the top of my head are the only ones who can. We, however, chose a manager from the 80's to manage us. That's the difference.
No player has improved under KD coaching. With rafa, he could make players or brake them. Look at arbeloa and see what can be archived with hard work and ability to coach. Reina has gone backwards. What? Not good enough for us? No ability? It is telling that the gk coach was sacked. Time for KD to leave . Or else, nightmare season has just began.

Although as with every other Kopite, I would love to see Rafa return, but with how football has been going it may not be the best option. Having Rafa as a sporting director would prove more beneficial for the club and give Rafa more power over transfers. Hold on, if you reflect on what rafa has done for the club, you can see their reasoning, after we came second in the premier league, it all fell apart but what could Rafa do about it though, he knew he need to get more players but Hicks and Juilet were too lazy to spare any so he had to sell key players like alonso, he also had to get promising reserve players like insua and Ngog to help him get through the season, unfortunatly they werent the most talented of LFC's youth, now that we actually have owners who love the club and have the money to invest in key players like David Villa, im sure Rafa can now give us the glory and sorting out that liverpool deserve.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Strange analysis when you say nearly won despite Rafa.
I presume you mean when all went well it was not him managing but when we drew or lost that was Rafa managing.

This is the type of thinking we need - stop looking to the past , too many are painting a rosy picture of rafa's time here  - yes we had some great nights but he is not the title winning messiah that many fans are making him out to be  -  we are not NUFC with thier penchant for bringing thier own failed messiah figures back into the fold - we are LFC , we need a youngish forward thinking manager  - one to build a dynasty here , AVB would be perfect as he would be at a real club  - not one where they sack the manager 9 months after delivering a club first double.

odd mistake ??? your joking right ?   try supporting the club instead of blindly supporting any individual no matter how beloved they are  - the club must come first before anything or anyone else - kenny knows this , so should you

This season too many fans have put Suarez and Kenny before the best interests of the club  - and thats not right at all , its got to be about the best thing to move LFC forward and sadly giving Kenny another war chest to potentially squander again is not in the clubs best interests.

  68. Ive looked at that picture many times now and something seems not right. It looks photoshopped to me??? Henry is not in proportion to the rest of the people around him,.  If its real? which i don't think it is, i actually feel sorry for KD. He's liverpool through and through, red is the blood the causes his vains. Im pissed we don't win but we have had a very unlucky season. get rid of the crap IE - Henderson, Adam, Downing and new players i think were be in good shape.

    ReplyDelete
  69. He added two players to Houllier's team. Alonso and Garcia.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Rafa had funds, he wasn't them and then cried that he didn't get enough.

How about we look to the future and not back towards the sentimental Kenny or Rafa Business? Both had their chance and i believe its time to move on. AVB? Pep? Or God Forbid Pardew? Surely we have to look to the future cut the recriminations and set out on the right foot for a change. New owners New beginnings. Make an informed decision on the manager rather than more sentimental judgements.

  72. Carroll is crap, simple as.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Some people seem to forget that Carroll missed two complete sitters in the final against Chelsea.

    ReplyDelete
  74. He might not be doing good but he was a great player for liverpool probably one of the best, he tried his best and it hasnt been good enough I agree.... No need for the nastiness though, and Rafa is not the answer short memory or what. been watching reds for 36 years almost every game seen.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Rubbish. Rafa can't build teams to make huge improvements in the league in a short period of time(a year or two) which is what we need. Rafa has had his chance at Liverpool, he failed to win the league, now he needs to move on and so do you.

    ReplyDelete
  76. We won 4-1 actually.. I bought the t shirt!! Bring Rafa back....

    ReplyDelete
  77. Who bought the new players? Kenny.

    Who coaches the players? Kenny.

    Who dictates tactics? Kenny.

    ReplyDelete
  78. We weren't all calling for him to be re-instated.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I can't stop laughing when you mentioned KD's team play good football... it's too hilarious!!! LMFAO....

    ReplyDelete
  80. Carroll is spaghetti needs the boot as well as Dalglish and I don't care who you are or what you have what the owner did was atrocious. Bad day for Liverpool fans

    ReplyDelete
  81. Rafa thought Alonso wasn't as good as Gareth Barry
    So wanted to sell him

Alonso never forgave him ,soon as the chance came he was off !

Rafa bought Aquallani as a replacement despite the fact he hadn't played 25 games in any season because he was always injured

Rafa played the worst football ever seen at anfield

Who here can complain about the football we have played this year ?
If we could score there would no complaints

    Momentumn is something you build
    KD deserves another season .

guys i know all of us are not happy with what has happened on FA cup, but people should go easy on kenny here.....he took this team under Roy where it was in bad shape but we were close to finish for europa league..with his 1st full season he won carling cup and we reached FA cup...yes he made mistake by letting aquilani, meireless joe cole go but was it not rafa who sold cisse, risse, alonso replacing them with ngog, dosena, aquilani with injury....yah kenny is sturbon i dont see him why picking handerson over kuyt and why on january did not buy defensive midfielder but rafa was stubborn as well...he had robbie keane when torres was injured and instead picking ngog...i remember 25 min to go against birmingham or wigan he took off torres even gerrard was shaking his head.....infact this season its not that we have been playing bad we have dominated many teams but we dont have a finisher..carrol was out of form suarez was good but stupid man u team made sure to take him  down for 8 games ban on which had to get time to come back on his form....during the FA cup when you see the midfield of chelsea mikel, mata lampard you cant compare it with handerson, spearing and gerrard it was like gerrard fighting all alone with 2 giants atleast if lucas was there it would have been better...WHAT AM TRYING TO SAY please lets just give kenny a chance...lets give him until january we see what he will do ew cant a judge a season interms of PL table only...lets wait until the summer we see the players he will bring in and we will take it from there.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Ryan M, what about finishing 13th in 89-90, not so progressive then was he, you cock

    ReplyDelete
  86. Agreed. Been doing it all season i.e. turning up occasionally just to keep things sweet....

Nothing left to play for now, apart from their careers.....so i guess we'll see a big improvement from Suarez Reina and Enrique for sure....

    ReplyDelete
  87. Kenny should be sacked

    ReplyDelete
  88. I agree totally - nice to know I'm not the only one who can see through the Benitez myth. Funny how none of his fans ever mention results like Burnley, Barnsley or Reading - cup classics.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Unless he plays Henderson. And yes, I am joking.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Kenny Dalglish is Liverpool!

    ReplyDelete
  91. And in his second full season he finished 11th again- another 'selective' fact for you. You completely missed my point. According to the 'knowledgeable' posters on here finishing 11th in your second full season is grounds for the sack. I have submitted a post with more 'selective' facts but Jaimie has chosen not to use it which is disappointing. The point I have been trying to make is that the one commodity that Fergie was given, that modern day fans would not, is TIME.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Kenny has had to confront and deal with nasty truths, largely that Liverpool are a small club financially. Look around you, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Manchester CIty, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint Germain, Inter Milan. Where are Liverpool compared to these clubs, on a par with Tottenham on a good day. The premiership has passed Liverpool by, it's their own arrogance and fans believing they are too good to need to adapt or change to the new wave of football. History, history!? Leeds got history, Preston got history, where are they now? Same place Liverpool are heading. Kenny can't change it, he's part of the problem, the bloody history is part of the problem. Liverpool have played some of the worst football I have ever seen this season. People may criticise Rafa, he won an European cup, and nearly delivered a premiership title, he built a good team, Alonso was awesome, MAscherano was awesome, Torres was awesome, give Rafa £110 million and he would have delivered, kenny just spent it and looks at you like "what !?" Kenny will be sacked, he's a liability and his teams won't die for him, look at him! Passionless on tv, probably same in the dressing room, how can he fire up a team like mourinho or ferguson. Kenny, bewildered, out of his depth, wondering why press not licking his boots, that because it's not 1989 anymore Kenny, are you listening it's not 1989 anymore, it's 2012 and Liverpool are a small club, mid table, who enjoy a good cup run now and again. Liverpool fans need to accept it as well, the table does not lie, I repeat the table does not lie, and it has been over 20 years since Liverpool won the league, since then Leeds, Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Blackburn and now Man City all have won the league. Arsenal have sacrificed and invested in a 60,000 sweater stadium, have money to spend and will be a force, Chelsea are a force, Man City are a force, MAn Utd are a force, where does that leave Liverpool, at best battling for 4th place every season! Accept it, it's not Kennys fault, decline set in a long time ago, Rafa was a blip, Houllier tried, I respect him, but the xenophobic scouters didn't so he went. Scousers got their man, now live with it. Enjoy the next 20 years of mediocrity, look at Everton they've accepted they are mid table battlers and they are happy now with their lot. It's time Liverpool accepted their fate, stop kidding yourselves about premiership titles and European football, you don't have the money or the stadium, the players or the manager, the new wave of young fans, well they've got Chelsea and man city tops so globally that's going to disappear too. Prepare for relegation and mid table struggles, but don't blame Kenny, he's just part of it.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Adam scored two goals. He also missed two penalties and put through his own goal. So he's minus one. The guy was an utter disaster. I thought he'd be a good signing but he just hasn't got a  clue. Still, even a clueless player is streets ahead of Dickie Henderson.

I never wanted Kenny back as manager  - like I dont want rafa back but for different reasons  - I was in dread at the thought of kenny facing the onslaught of a sensationalist driven media and todays fickle fans who demand instant success  - the thought of him being derided across internet message boards like rafa and roy were made me feel sick  - but thats what its coming to , we are too polarised over the man such his iconic status within the club ,

too many would follow him down into the championship as long as thier king was at the helm , then theres many like me who cant bare to see him ruin his standing anymore than he has already this season  - then theres the pathetic few who have zero concept of what this man has done for the club down the years  - they want him gone and a flavour of the month brought in.

Theres an unbearable sadness around kenny at his last few press conferences and I want it to end now before it taints all he has achieved with LFC - the man does not deserve to become a pariah.

  95. Iwillalwayswalkalome10:55 pm, May 07, 2012

It's true, liverpool were a giant, but the real problem was the Roy Evans era, he should have fought and died to deliver premiership titles in the 90's thats when Man UTd got ahead of the game, the mr nice Roy and his spice boys were sleeping soft centred wusses and Blythe time they woke up, it was too late. A new world order had been established .

    ReplyDelete
  96. Liverpool are a bunch of miserable old potatoes whining on tv, kenny is a perfect representation of their fans.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Wilson Michaelpaul10:57 pm, May 07, 2012

stop calling him the king - its childish and also a bit demeening to the man himself , after all we are not toon fans  - we are LFC .

    ReplyDelete
  98. rafa is perfec coach fot liverpool. he bleeds liverpool. he did so much for pool and brought so many stars to pool when club was broke and bankrupt. i respect kinny kenny. but he wasted 100million........henderson and spearing in final...lmao

    ReplyDelete
  99. I can't believe some people, what a short memory.  Rafa spent far more than KD on mediocre players.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Wish kenny was given the funds Rafa was given...we would have been fighting relegation instead of challenging for CL

    ReplyDelete
  101. Certainly agree about Pako.  He was the brains especially on set pieces.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Since now Guardiola is free, we should sign him at all cost. Please!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  103. Kenny is the man, have faith, its the players not the manager who has let us down.

    ReplyDelete
  104. He didn't have to sell Alonso.  He tried to force him out and replace him with an OLDER Garreth Barry.........Thanks Rafa, that was the turning point.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Totally agree.  Parry brought in Keane & Rafa did his stubborn best not to make it work and it cost the team......thanks again Rafa.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Sorry, have to disagree.  With Houllier, we couldn't penetrate teams.  Rafa brought in Alonso & Garcia and gave the team more movement.  Shame Owen didn't stay and give him a chance.  Still don't want Rafa back though.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Dalglish is gonna get the boot...get used to it...mind you you support dalglish so you could follow supporting him wherever he goes.

Must hurt you to know that the yanks are betting the boot ready to use it

    ReplyDelete
  108. Yes, lets give him a chance.  How many points more would we have if half of the chances that hit the woodwork this season had gone in the net.

    ReplyDelete
  109. agree MR JOHN HENRY needs to bring back rafa ASAP give him players sales and 50 million to spend and he will deliver success in the near future IN RAFA WE TRUST.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Rafa could never finish midtable with his own team unlike dalglish who just has.....

wish we had listened to the newcastle fans when they said he will ruin us like he did with them

    ReplyDelete
  111. Yes under Rafa we were feared but he had enough time to do that KK had only been in charge 18months while Rafa had 6 years without a starting 11

    ReplyDelete
  112. Yes but KD got them to 7th from 3rd from bottom in half a season.

    ReplyDelete
  113. I have no issue if FSG decide to replace Kenny, the snub was unnecesary and tbh quite disrespectful, i think the way Kenny has behaved as manager this season re the Suarez incident etc coupled with our attrocious league form has perhaps tested the patience of John Henry to say the least....

However IF the replacement to Kenny is a certain rafa benitez then i will be furious with FSG period, as i said im all for moving the Club on and this season's result are not acceptable and there are plenty of managers oput there who perhaps should be considered, but NOT rafa IMO, the man polorises opinion which would unsettle the Club and re ignite the rafa debate amongst those who admire him still and those who don't....

We need to move forward in the summer, as long as FSG are looking forward and noit back i won't have an issue with them.

Bit dissapointed with Henry tbh, and quite worried about what they have planned for the summer....

Just hope to God that they don't bring rafa back.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Well said Boyspen53.  I heard Fergie was given 3 games to turn it round when he first started.

    ReplyDelete
  115.  personally i believe fsg will go with their original plan before they gave dalglish the job come the end of the season & that is
    Andre Villas-Boas

    ReplyDelete
  116. I guess you know what he did to Mourhino's Inter.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Yeah right when he got his chance to go back to the final in 2007 what did he do fuck it up like he always do. Crouch scored all the goals en route to the final but he put him on the bench in the final also subed Macherano and Kaka got his space to create goals.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I can remember being under the Centenary Stand before the Monday night game against Portsmouth in Rafa's last season.  Scores of LFC fans who had held season tickets for years said they would not be taking up their season ticket the following season if things didn't improve dramatically.  We went on to win the game 4 -1 and Aqualani had a stormer.  That's how most of the fans fealt about Rafa near the end.......short memories.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Finishing high is not Liverpool way our way is to win trophies.

    ReplyDelete
  120. look pal bringing in a new manager is a risk with rafa you have a proven manager.record european cup uefa cup la liga fa cup super cup and another european final RAFA is a genius BUT he was up against all the media and bad owners yes he signed some bad players but also signed world class players TO ALL LFC FANS WHO HAVE BRAINS WE NEED THIS MAN BACK AT LFC ASAP BEFORE SOMEONE SNAPS HIM UP RAFAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

    ReplyDelete
  121. Please in case you have forgotten KK got Hogdson's team in 13th.

    ReplyDelete
  122. And you do remember what they used to call Lucas not he's the one being praised.

    ReplyDelete
  123. rafa's team was defensive, if you call defensive playing one striker, you must be, the team had big retention of ball on the opposition's half, pressed very high, and defence wasn't plating deep, that defeats the notion of being defensive

    ReplyDelete
  124. and a philosophy that got them playing like a team, plus tactics, enough for me

    ReplyDelete
  125. What do you call doing horribly wrong in the transfer market? Buying a player from a different team and different location and you expect them to tweek instantly? Sometimes i wonder if some people understand football really. A 21 yr old bought at a club is long term not short term if it was like that Ronaldo would have been sent packing from United just coz he has a bad debut season.

    ReplyDelete
  126. look he could have rectified his mistakes, and do something about it during the winter transfer market, the team was crying out for a striker and a attacking mid, even one of them would be useful, time's up chum, another year would be a huge mistake

    ReplyDelete
  127. What if he fails in his first season like KK we get rid of him?

    ReplyDelete
  128. yep and in the first season he made us the opposite, every middle table and relegation team cannot wait to beat us, simply because they can with ease, hardly ever they even break sweat

    ReplyDelete
  129. Another one of an idiot thinking a player comes good in just 12months pity i suggest you go support Chelsea you glory seekers.  If those players play next season and we do well and then what all of a sudden it becomes like the way Lucas was always castigated not he's the one praised. Narrow minded just. One season is not enough to prove how good someone is especially when you're 21yrs.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Don't give the look pal bollocks, i DON'T want rafa back for myriad reasons.....

I've already posted a list of those reasons on here but they have yet to be allowed on the thread probably because of the harsh nature of the comments....

You like rafa but many LFC fans do not.....we ALL have a right to an opinion other than the bullshit that is spouted time and time again re your man rafa....

He polarises opinion and his  style of football is negative and cowardly IMO, so are his "tactics"....

We need new fresh blood at the Club, fresh ideas, and ATTACKING football, we have owners with a few bob and a willingness to suceed, rafa would be a backward step IMO not a forward one....

An i for one would be as determined to expose him as all you lot were when Roy was appointed....and i wouldn't be alone in that, just take a look at these boards and read some of the comments, you will see that we would back in the realm of pro rafa anti rafa quicker than you could say going backwards.......

    ReplyDelete
  131. that's history, we're talking only about his managerial career starting winter 2010

    ReplyDelete
  132. Another one of a glory ignorant seeker KK won 3 league titles with Liverpool in case you have forgotten the last league title we won was him and then you bring in Souness with one FA cup. mssscccchhhw

    ReplyDelete
  133. Jesus Christ, why are my posts not being allowed on these boards, thats 3 posts now that you have witheld.....2 of which were posted 3/4 hours ago....ALL of which are critqiues of rafa and are in direct opposition to those pro rafa posts....

    What gives Jamie?

    ReplyDelete
  134. no i didn't know Titi. Same as i don't know how Carroll and Henderson will turn out. I do know that while they are wearing a red shirt i will support them. I will support Kenny as i have all the managers before him. When FSG decide it's time to change then so be it. I will support the knew manager if it happens.
I am a real supporter of LFC. I watch ever game at ridiculous hours of the morning. I am not blessed to have Anfield at my back door. Some of you guys don't deserve to.

    ReplyDelete
  135. And when he took him to Hertha Berlin on loan he scored great goals for them so they wanted him but Rafa being Rafa he refused to sell him for 5m yet he knew he was not going to use him in the end he sold him 1.8.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Guess you're going to tell me its Kenny who told them to keep missing scoring easy chances.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Correct and there were many fan's who had reservations about the appointment.......

I certainly was NOT one of the many fans singing Dalglish's name whilst Roy was still the manager....in a desperate attempt to rid us of the "problem" only to lumber us with another "problem"....

Thats EXACTLY why we should be looking forward NOT back.....

    ReplyDelete
  138. Is there something wrong with you? You do know that once in a while a team will lose games, they were a great midfield. I reckon with that 08/09 team, would be competing for the title this year. In fact now Alonso and Macherano are integral players for 2 of the best teams in the world at present.

    ReplyDelete
  139. The League Cup? Pffft.

The higher you are, the closer you get to winning the league. That is the bread and butter.

    ReplyDelete
  140. We have spent £25m on Suarez, £18m on Hendo, £20m on Downing, £35m on Carroll, etc in a recent period of time. Since when have Arsenal spend that amount of money in such a timeframe? Never. Yet they are regular like clockwork in CL (maybe until now)

We have spent lots of money in recent time but not wisely.

We spent loads of money between 1990 and 2010 but not wisely (I recall a JK piece that had our spend more than Manure's but not a single league title to show for it).

    ReplyDelete
  141. Started off when KK failed to refresh the squad in his first reign there and then Souness tried to refresh the squad but in a too quick and abrupt manner.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Please shut up about rafa benitez! he gave us one of the greatest european nights in the clubs history!!!  but lets be fair, gerrard dragged us kicking and screaming! a 25-26yr old gerrard!  this season he has shown that without a pre season and starting mid way through he has come up a little short! he is also 31!!!  torres has also gone! and if my memory serves me correctly then when him and gerrard were out of the team were lucky to win a game! take those two plus alonso out and we were nothing!!!! carragher was one of the best centre backs in the league! this season he has faded into half the player!! kenny signed 5? players???  it takes time! rafa and many forces under the hicks era nearly ruined this club! keane was signed without barry! so that made keane null and void! it also saw us lose alonso, one of the best foriegn midfield imports in the clubs history!  there are factory that kenny has no control over but i never doubt the guys citment and desire to put liverpool back to the top!  benitez had his chance and he blew it! i don't want to watch liverpool play under benitez again!!! it was one dimensional and so so boering!!!  he was great with his tactics but we were not a great team!!!

    ReplyDelete
  143. Mourinho got the very best out of his ageing players. Rafa wanted to freshen up the team, didn't get the cash to do so. If you look at Inter now hardly making waves are there. Rafa can't be blamed for this, more than enough time has passed. Also this stupid won it with Houllier's team argument is ridiculous. If they were so great, why couldn't Houllier do the same? Also, what's he supposed to do, get rid of all the players and say I'm building from scratch? He built upon what was already there. We already had decent players, which he added quality players to and improved the likes of Stevie G to almost super human levels. He took us to the next level, we just needed to go another level above that. Due to bad ownership and admittedly same ill advised signings we didn't. I love Rafa, but I do think it is time for a fresh face with fresh ideas. But, are you telling me that with the cash that Kenny got, Rafa wouldn't got some decent signings. For every Keane there is a Torres, for every Aqua there is an Alonso. He would've wasted some money most mangers do (even Fergie...Veron, Anderson, Bebe, Berbatov etc) but he definitely would've gone for Mata over Downing or Javi Martinez over Henderson.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Your so out of touch with reality it just beggars belief,

IMO rafa stands for everything that i despise in the game, negative tactics, defensive/counter attack boring control freak football wherby ALL effort is concentrated into stifling the opposition as opposed to actually trying to play the game....

rafa is tactically a coward, his football reflects that and ALL of those fools wanting him back are the main reason this Club is in the mess it is IMO, you cannot accept the fact that there are better more suitable candidates for the job than rafa, his style of football is predictable and mind numbingly boring to watch the antithesis of what i consider REAL football to be about...

Unbelievable that he stills has a hold over this fanbase, i am sick and tired of hearing the mans name again let alone having to think about the dreadful prospect of this questionable character with the big gobshite and press loving ego that he has...

IF FSG bring rafa back i will be disguted with them tbh my faith in this Club will be destroyed in an instant, i will NOT support rafa back at the Club and will do everything in my power to expose this mans very dubious character....

    ReplyDelete
  145. Problem is though mate, there are many rumours abounding that rafa has been asked to talk with the owners.....

It kinda fits into a theory i have that Reina Enrique Suarez Lucas etc have sabotaged Kenny's season by purposefully underperforming, making the brit signings look shite and Kenny an incompetent manager......

    Sabotage......

Be fearful, he is coming back IMO, he has cunningly wormed his way back into the frame.....

Im going to write the mother of all books about rafa and his tenure at our Club which will include his ongoing NEGATIVE influence on the Club AFTER leaving.....

    ReplyDelete
  146. what a prick! How can you say something like that to kenny..the guy has done so much for liverpool just because were not doing well dont mean u say stupid things like that! Some ppl are so dumb!

    ReplyDelete
  147. do you all want fergie?????????

    ReplyDelete
  148. As a man utd fan on my brothers page;your good owners will only spend so much and after this season no way will they let kenny spend it.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Don't be pathetic.

Dude alonso submitted a transfer request to liverpool hierarchy after he got to know about the offer from real.
rafa only tried to force him out the season before and alonso became outstanding after that..

    ReplyDelete
  151. Well, I like to see rafa back and make JWH fall flat on his face with new investments. Personally I saw the worst Liverpool sides when Rafa was in charge. Maybe its good once and for all that you should see what the desperate-for-a-job rafa could do with his ever loved rotational policy.

I still say, should KD be sacked, get Martin O'Neill in!

    ReplyDelete
  152. No football expert but at the beginning of this season, we lacked pacey wingers who can assist strikers or score themselves when chance appears, pacey finishing touch which Torres left, and a couple of impact bench players, when we signed Suarez player who never gives up and always causes problems, i was excited we need more players with flair and confidence to take on the defense,

spending 100 mil plus i just feel it could have been spent more wisely and could have seen better results this year, this is the reason why Comolli got done,

we need to move on from this year, it is the past whether or not KD stays or goes or whoever takes over, we need to see action that makes sense and not leave us wondering WTF!?

we need to see changes and a plan that everybody can agree with and be excited about,

    YNWA

  153. This OLDER Garreth to which you refer in currently playing in a soon to be title winning team

    ReplyDelete
  154. True. Benitez was given a handful of games at Inter; its annoying when people keep bringing it up.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Well he got us to the final; or is that no achievement???

    ReplyDelete
  156. KK will be manager next season, simple!!!

    ReplyDelete
  157. Liverpool need 2 players now to massively improve, a right winger and goalpoacher. Lucas and Adam will be fit next season so no worries there, our defence is good too, maybe Doni should replace Reina????.

KK can easily sort it out in the summer, not much is needed overall but i want Sterling, Ngoo, Morgan, Ibe, Teixeira, Suso etc, to get some games!!!

  159. Yes and then decided to reward the team's start contributor by benching them i.e. Maxi and selling our other star Meireles. Even Kuyt would have been more useful than the newer signings.

    ReplyDelete
  160. star contributor even.

    ReplyDelete
  161. The difference is Man U have quite a lot of advantage over LFC.  As soon as the Premier League revenue started coming in they were marketing globally very effectively, brought in a lot of revenue from stadium tickets (more than 20k seats more) and became light years ahead of us when you compound this over 20 years.

The only way to catch them is to do a Man City and have a new stadium built ASAP.

    ReplyDelete
  162. We wanted it for the last 20 years!!

    ReplyDelete
  163. Even under Fergie there was gradual improvement. We are undeniably going backwards and have been since the Cowboys pulled Rafa's transfer funds. I call that, a lot of hard work undone.

    ReplyDelete
  164. We shouldn't be spending 20-30 million on 21 year old experiments. That is the kind of money you throw at players like Silva, Modric, Aguero, Rooney, not average, rough diamonds that may come good (or so so).

    ReplyDelete
  165. Now Lucas cost 5 million and he was frustrating to watch at first but came good. With the money we spent on him or someone like Ngog, that is ok.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Move on and get what exactly?? Rafa is the only one with the tactical nous to get us challenging for a top 4 place on a 20 mil a season net transfer budget, who would gladly come to us, has Liverpool in his heart, knows the players and will make us a force in Europe again. Who else will come?! Realistically.

For those saying Rijkaard, Brendan Rogers e.t.c. I honestly despair. Rijkaard got sacked in Turkey and Brendan Rogers has no experience in Europe, limited scouting networks in other countries, no trophies of note and while playing attractive football, the team plays with a pourous defence.

  167. Good point. Rafa as DOF working with young manager like Villas Boas.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Owen Coyle or Roberto Martinez for me.  I know I'll get some stick for it, but they are good managers who deserve an opportunity to prove themselves at a bigger club and who are in touch with modern football.  Kenny unfortunately is not in touch.  He's been out of it for too long.

    ReplyDelete
  169. Wait a minute. You don't want Rafa but asked for Martin O'neill?.  Oh c'mon.. . Please get another candidate

    ReplyDelete
  170. that pic is fake....what a bunch of idiot

Writing in caps isn't going to improve the content of your argument.

So your now accusing Reina, Suarez and Enrique  who all happen to be Spanish speaking, of a covert conspiracy to undermine Dalglish?

Keep going this is brilliant stuff you should be a writer!

    ReplyDelete
  172. Yes because we can offer 12 million a season plus a huge transfer kitty and CL football that Chelsea have offered him. Come on lads get real.

    ReplyDelete
  173. Especially as he said he wants a complete break from football....

    ReplyDelete
  174. "Which no one else wanted" !!! ................... just listen to yourself. Only Liverpool and Chelsea have actually WON anything this season.

    ReplyDelete
  175. We got Xabi Alonso, Momo Sissoko, Gerrard and Mascherano - oh - oh -oh .............

    ReplyDelete
  176. actuall for once you are right,i was there, like i am at 95% of games home and away. then you slip back into your usual mode by getting things wrong. no i have never booed lucas or any player......by the way anfield isn't on 'my back door' anymore, i live a long way from it, but i still spend a shed load of cash travelling around the country and europe to watch them....when i spend my hard earned money, i think i have a huge justification to vent my displeasure on sites such as this,at the performances of highly paid failures, where i contribute to their wages, such as CHARLIE 'FU*KING ' ADAM!!!! OK? GET IT NOW???? as it's you....i very much doubt it,go and climb back under your duvet and wait for the next game.

    ReplyDelete
  177. So out of touch that we won a trophy, went to a 2nd final and have European football unlike last season. 3 trips to Wembley wasn't too bad was it, In his first full season FFS!!!!................get a grip!!!

    ReplyDelete
  178. most idiotic post I've ever read. He built a great team here, that played some great football. However, he was not allowed to sign his first choice players most of the time. Wish he had £120m to spend in one year. It was his TACTICS that won us the cup!! His TACTICS that won La Liga.

    ReplyDelete
  179. is cheering at a LFC player injured good or bad signing the Liverpool way?

    ReplyDelete
  180. Dave you quite clearly know eff all about football. I wouldn't even bother commentating if I were you.

    ReplyDelete
  181. We are doomed than. Henderson will play all the time. Even though if he plays rubbish.

    ReplyDelete
  182. If you add to the sales of Rafa buys since his departure I believe his nett spend is close to 0!!!
Even without that whist he was here his nett spend is close to £13m a year - and other than Keane and Aquilani (who prob would have played under Rafa) he didn't make a loss on many. I'm sure we would not be 9th with him here and having spent £115m in one year.
He wanted Alves and Ramos when they were still at Seville - board said no... imagine if he could have bought just a handful of his first choices??
He had to sell to buy which is why we did not have enough continuity... he reinvented our youth and medical facilities, bought some great players - Alonso -10m, Agger, Lucas, Skrtel, Garcia, Reina - 6m each, Torres - 20m....

Look at the facts rather than what you've heard in the pub or some sh!t tabloid

  183. This is becoming embarrasing. When did we start treating legends of our club like this? When did we start allowing odious little people spout off about one of the greatest servants LFC has ever had? We all want better performances, winning titles etc, but he is rebuilding from the depths of last year. 2 Cup finals in teh first year is an EXCELLENT start. END OF. IF you can't accept that your arrogance is shocking. As for the way some of you are speaking about Kenny...you are not and never will be True LFC fans. Regardless of what you feel about recent performances, there is NO place in LFC for this crass lack of respect for a man that we owe a massive debt of gratitude to. SHAME

    ReplyDelete
  184. Until KK came back we played crap football, won nothing for 6 years and dropped out of European football. In his first full season he has put that right, what do you expect him to do in one season???, really you need to think about it.

Next season we can add to a good squad already with the right winger and goalscorer, also integrate Sterling and the other top kids. KK has played the best football we have seen in 10 years, fact.

I have 'enjoyed' even the defeats because we battered most of the teams that beat us, yes we are inconsistent but that can be sorted, given a little time!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  185. Lads would anyone consider fresh new managerial talent such as a Paul Lambert in charge?

    ReplyDelete
  186. Typical KD fan I see. STOP LIVING IN THE PAST AND F*** OFF

    ReplyDelete
  187. You are retarded son, dfans like you we do not need..........................tool

    ReplyDelete
  188. So how did you come to the conclusion that the end is nigh Mr Kanwar?? How do you know that they weren't together before the game??

Your obsession with KD getting the sack/leaving is laughable, you will be telling us next you want Martin Unreal in charge again!!

    ReplyDelete
  189. Yes a massive fan, name anyone better????. take your own advice  and eff off!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  190. Some of our fans are pathetic!!!!!!......................talk about deluded

    ReplyDelete
  191. You are an embarrasment Onwgowgn.

As the words of the song go ---' If a picture paints a thousand words', etc,....... nuff said !!

    ReplyDelete
  193. I totally agree with your assessment about Rafa returning. The team seemed to function better with Pako Ayestaran as Rafa's number 2. When he left, it all went pear shaped even at Inter Milan.

I think Unai Eremy would be an excellent choice given what he had to work with at Valencia. He impressively guided them to third for three consecutive seasons even after the club sold their best players every year.

    ReplyDelete
  194. 50 million loss and 9th position. If the owner is giving Kenny another chance then either the owner want to raise the stake or simply crazy.

    ReplyDelete
  195. history, yep we have mountains of it and proud of it we are. but, history is what has had a part in why we are where we are. kd, bless him, has tried his best, and he has lfc in his heart has he not? it hasn't worked. rafa made some awful decisions, the alonso debacle is the stand out one for me. i honestly couldn't answer who we should get. maybe the athletic bilbao boss......he isn't too bad???

    ReplyDelete
  196. Every one is living in the past no one is puting forward names of new managers ,who could do a good job" rafa " dont think so werve all walked that road before ? an with this new bread of fan how long will the next manager have ?18months ?way to long ?12 months thats more like it i want it now or i will stamp my feet an make myself sick.

    ReplyDelete
  197. Why does everyone think KD plays great footie? It's kick and rush with far too many hopeful balls. We have no CMs capable of being a playmaker!! We are too predictable which is why Blackburn have outscored us!!!

    ReplyDelete
  198.  Kenny Dalglish's first season may not have been ideal but your lack of respect for the man who has done so much for the club is amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  199. Dede, Hodgson team had not 'finished' 13th and when KD came in there was no pressure. This year there was and he has shown he is tactically outdated and inept. £120m and we are worse than we have been for decades... the league table does not lie!!!
