DAILY POLL: Fernando Torres - Would you have him back at Liverpool?

Fernando Torres left Anfield under a cloud in January, and since then, the divide between the player and Liverpool's club's fans has widened. Torres' form has been poor to say the least since he left the club, and Chelsea manager Andres Villas Boas is reportedly considering sending him out on loan if his form doesn't improve. Hypothetically, if a loan move Torres was on the cards, would he be welcome back at the Liverpool?

This would never happen in a million years as Chelsea would never loan such a good player to a rival club, but if it was on the cards, would you take Torres back?

I would, without a shadow of a doubt. Torres and Suarez upfront? Yes please!

  4. I'd take him without thinking, the actual smart thing is to never allow him to leave, maybe we can learn an expensive and valuable lesson from totenham and modric they said simply u r not going anywhere son stay and perform... we made the stupid move w Torres and again mereles in addition to loaning aquilani.. we need these players. .. Torres alongside Suarez wd. Have been. A completely different situation than w towering useless Carroll, sometime we question. The wisdom in thar!!!! If ant??

  7. I still haven't digested the fact we sold him. The more I see him shine for a team other than Liverpool I feel sick. I would definitely welcome him back. Just imagine how devastating Liverpool's attack would be with Torres, Bellamy and Suarez upfront, no defence in the world would be able to stop us. RE SIGN HIM PLEASE.

  8. Oh yes....if he gets Stevie services Torres will b scoring goals as usual. Look wht happen at Old Trafford he look active coz Anelka, Remires and Obi was feeding him....Torres is a finisher not a midfielder!!!!

  9. The manner of his leaving Liverpool left a very bad taste, that said, he is still a class act. Suarez and Torres has a far greater appeal than Suarez and Carroll but this whole issue is pie-in-the-sky. There is no way Chelsea would allow him back on loan to Liverpool!

  13. i cannot get my head around the fact that dalgish replaced torres with Andy carroll. Then Dalglish says he hasnt worked out how best to play Carroll.Mascherrano went because of Benitez s departure,Reiina was on the verge of leaving because of Rafas departure and Torres was the worlds best striker under Rafa.Kuyt also was on the verge of joining Inter under rafa until a hastily drawn up lucrative contract was given to him. There isnt a chance in hell Torres would return under Dalglish after Dalglish publically slated him. Then again the Dalglish PR machine is all about passing the buck,Aquillani and Meireles wanted to leave according to the Dalglish PR machine until you get the players views.Dalglish is a walking PR machine when we score he raises both arms aloft like he used to when he scored and he has a big smile on his face, hes brainwashing fans who idolised him as a player.

  14. No way, he made his choice that Liverpool wasn't good enough for him, and I hope it doesn't work out for him.

Maybe he now realises how much positive support he had at Liverpool even when he wasn't playing well (which he wasn't before and after the World Cup). At Chel$ki he's just the latest forward they've bought, if he doesn't work out they'll use one of their other 3 or 4 forwards or buy someone else.

Add to the fact that he wouldn't just leave quietly and get on with his new job, he had to repeatedly say why he left. You thought you had more chance of winning something at Chel$ki and I'm supposing they pay more money as well, we get it, even if we don't agree with it, no need to keep repeating it. He talked more after he left than for the whole time he was at Liverpool.

He was apparently a bit of a moody person, which was tolerated because he was scoring goals, but was not a positive influence in the dressing room.

  15. NO.
It is impossible to think emotionally. Torres, unfortunately this is history, and it seems to me as a player, he will never play anymore so great as we remember him by.

  16. Mr Kanwar doesn't signing re signing Torres go against your philosophy of signing injury prone players?  Because that is exactly what he is.  For me its time to move on, we had his best year.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hi Burt. Can Torres really be classed as injury prone? He's been injured recently, but he's averaged 41 games a season (all competitions) over the last 4 years. I think you're right though in that we've probably already seen Torres' best years.

  18. Torres anyday over waste of space Carroll ...how many more c*ck ups will we have to put up with from carragher before kk grows some balls to drop him...

    ReplyDelete
  19. Christ almighty... anyone who says carroll is useles is basically admitting their a bit thick.
(2009-2010) 42 appearances -19 goals(2010-2011) 29 appearances - 13 goalsThat's almost 1 goal every 2 games he plays. Not bad for a 22 year old whose still got loads of time to improve with a big club. He has potential! Give him time! Patience! Comprende? He was bought because of his aerial ability, strength and powerful left foot. So far we've seen all those things in small ammounts. He's not going anywhere any time soon. People slating him aren't making things better.

If you have nothing good to say don't say anything at all.

  20. Mascherano was desperate to leave the club while Benitez was still in charge. Benitez decided to take the ridiculous stance of holding onto him inspite of the very agreeable terms thought to be offered by Barcelona.

Reina was on the verge of leaving because of the state in which Benitez left the club, not because the manager left.

Kuyt should've left but unfortunately Inter didn't put up the requisite amount of money to take him away (again our manager was desperate to look like a man in control, and so just like with Mascherano, decided to make a stance in the transfer market instead of doing what was best for the club and moving the players on asap for as much as possble)

Don't let the facts get in the way though - Benitez definitely never set a foot wrong at Anfield(!)

  21. I think you will find that was 30 goals for Newcastle and 2 for Liverpool and liverpool fans have a right to comment on his contribution to the Liverpool cause not the Newcastle one. It really means he was a good fit for Newcastle but not Liverpool.
The argument about him being young totally negates the reason for Liverpool's transfer policy of targeting young players with premiership experience who are supposed to fit in right away otherwise why not go for a cheaper similarly aged player like Higuain for example who would have needed the same time Carroll needs to start performing.
It is also worth noting that while Chicharito is only 6 month older than Carroll, it means he came to the premier league at the age Carroll is right now butr that didnt stop him scoring 15 golas in 31 games and he also had his fair share of injuries and cameo appearances in those 31 games. He also cost 5times less than Carroll and you will not hear any argument about him being too young to score those goals will you.
Daniel Sturridge(22) and Danny Wellbeck(20) all seem to be doing fine without the need to argue they are still young and lastly Aguero only 6 months older has scored 5 goals less than Andy Carroll's return of 13 goals in 31 premiership games despite having a 5 game experience in England.
In this group only Aguero cost more than Carroll so they are all valid comparisons in terms of what return is to be expected from  an investment of £35mln + the wages over the 5 year contract.

  22. Torres is LFC pass...LFC does not wanted to keep or purchase back players who does not have respect for the club as how he has critise LFC when he initially left LFC!!! Never forget @ LFC, it was your best & complete days as a dedaly & complete stricker than hardly misses the net & goals every matches. Torres clearly shows he regrets his chelsea move decision following his drastic fall in performance & especially in front of an open goal post as its more difficult to put the ball out than inside the net!!! Indeed Torres has ever been the most deadly & complete forward when he was at LFC!!! The Price tag that chelsea has paid for him have made him under huge pressure to score in every games.. Media are likely to fuelled to that & so do Torres fall in confidence & performance are headlines... Same applied to andy Carroll, still young & need time to settle in a new club, made his lfc debut before full fitness after injury, huge price for young english talent & pressure to deliver & his every performance are closely monitored & materialised by media & hence making him under pressure & lose confidence..
Mark my words, in 2 years time LFC will be having a more deadly & complete stricker than late Torres...Its non other than our Andy Carroll...
