Despite reports to the contrary, Liverpool are seemingly still in with a chance of singing one of Jurgen Klopp's alleged top targets.
In March, German newspaper Bild claimed:
"AC Milan, Inter, Juve, Roma, Man City, Arsenal, and Liverpool have all made €6m-a year salary offers for Schalke star Sead Kolasinac".
On Monday, Kolasinac's Agent dismissed reports that the Serb had already 'signed' for Arsenal, and now, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has also confirmed that there is no deal currently in place.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Wenger insisted:
"We can deny that story at the moment. Nothing has been concluded with anybody".
Reading between the lines, it sounds to me like Arsenal are interested in a deal for €20m-rated Kolasinac, but are yet reach an agreement. In theory, this means that Liverpool still have a window of opportunity to seal an agreement with 'outstanding' Kolasinac, who, enticingly, is available for free.
Liverpool fans are certainly in favour of the deal. I conducted a poll recently asking if Klopp should bring in Kolasinac to replace Moreno, and a whopping 96% of participants voted YES.
On a related note, Schalke really need get organised in the transfer market. Last summer, the club lost Joel Matip on a free, and this year, Kolasinac is leaving for nothing. With better planning, they might've earned £10m-£20m in transfer fees for the duo.
