Shock Start Today? Klopp confirms Liverpool's 'wonderful' forgotten man may 'play' vs. Stoke. Replace Coutinho?

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has hinted that one of the club's fringe players may make a surprise return to the first team for today's Premier League clash with Stoke City.

When asked on Friday about the possibility of Grujic featuring against Stoke, Klopp told the Liverpool Echo:

"We have to think about it. We have to see what players can best play in each position. He [Grujic] is an option depending on what system we play [vs. Stoke]".

With Liverpool suffering a late season injury crisis, Klopp will need to make full use of his squad, and Grujic is fresh and well-rested, which makes him an obvious and enticing option.

That said, if Klopp decides to use Grujic, where will he play? Unless there's yet another injury, Can, Lucas, and Wijnaldum are nailed-on to start today's game, so there's no space in midfield.

Coutinho is also set to miss the game, so there's a slot in the front three, but that will mean playing Grujic out of position.

However, with players like James Milner and Harry Wilson available, there's no need for yet another square peg in a round hole.

If selection is based on who is 'best in each position', then Grujic - who has played only 29 minutes of Premier League football all season - is clearly way down the pecking order.

Should Grujic start today, or does he belong on the bench?

* Grujic: €14m-rated. Hailed by Klopp as a 'wonderful' player.
