Anfield Blow: 'Excellent' €35m Liverpool star misses training; may miss Burnley game along with Sturridge

Two of Liverpool's key players are major doubts for this weekend's Premier League clash with Burnley.

Jordan Henderson (foot injury) and Daniel Sturridge (Hip issues) missed the the recent Saturday's 3-1 victory over Arsenal, and both are yet to feature in team training this week, which strongly suggests that they'll miss the Burnley game on Sunday.

Both Sturridge and Hendo have missed a week of training so far, and with only 3 days until the game, there's clearly not enough time to get up to full match fitness.

Liverpool's record without Henderson is generally miserable (38% win rate over the last two seasons), but as the Arsenal victory shows, the Reds are perfectly capable of delivering top class performances without the captain.

That said, Liverpool have lost home games against Wolves, Swansea, and Southampton this season, so although the Reds' home form is generally good (especially against the top teams), a victory on Sunday is by no means a foregone conclusion.

Given the dominance of Liverpool's performance against Arsenal, there's arguably no reason to change a winning team, and that includes keeping Ragnar Klavan at centre-back.

Dejan Lovren is on the comeback trail, but even if he's fit, Klavan doesn't deserve to be dropped, and the merit system should dictate that he stays in the team.

* €35m-rated (CIES Football Observatory). Described by Steven Gerrard as 'excellent'.
