Liverpool are once again being linked with a summer move for one of Ajax's most exciting players.
In February, Le360 Sport claimed:
"Liverpool are closely following Hakim Ziyech, and Jurgen Klopp has personally sent Liverpool Reps to to scout him this season"
According to reports in Holland this week:
* Liverpool are still tracking Ziyech, and club Reps have scouted the Moroccan international 'often' this season.
* Klopp is 'very impressed' with Ziyech, and sees him as a potential replacement for Philippe Coutinho.
* Ajax will sell, but after only signing Ziyech in August, the club wants a €60m transfer fee.
Over the last couple of years, Coutinho has been constantly linked with a move to Barcelona, so it makes sense for Klopp to be looking at potential replacements. Some info about Ziyech, hailed as a 'special' player by Rafael Van Der Vaart:
* 23 year old attacking midfielder. Contract expires: 2021
* Last 4 seasons: 108 goals/assists in 142 apps (One every 106 mins)
* This Season: 23 goals/assists in 32 apps (One every 105 mins)
* ESPN Scouting Report: "Lightning fast and agile. Left-footed, but possesses a decent right foot. Dribbling skills are exquisite. Vision is supreme. Keen eye for goal. Great dead-ball specialist. Potentially world-class playmaker".
* According to ESPN: "Ziyech would dearly love to play for Barcelona and Arsenal, the two clubs who he has supported all his life".
* Dec 2015: Klaas Jan van der Veen of SoccerNews.nl noted: "Ziyech used to get very angry when fouled, but he learned to behave and became a star. Ziyech is a true No. 10 who likes to take a lot of risks with his passes and always thinks forward."
A player with a bit of anger and passion? Yes please! Ziyech certainly has a consistently good goals/assists record, and at 23, he's arguably at the right age to make the step up to the Premier League. Plus, unlike Coutinho (who was a bit-part player at Inter - Ziyech is playing regularly for his current club, and has a better creative record.
€60m is fantasy land, but for the right price, is Ziyech a viable target?
