Deal Close: Liverpool in advanced talks to sign 'excellent' French sensation; offer made already

Liverpool are reportedly close to sealing a deal for one of French football's most promising talents.

According to Telefoot today:

"According to our source, Jordy Gaspar and his entourage are in advanced talks with AC Milan and Liverpool, who have sent several offers to Lyon. Fiorentina and Bayer Leverkusen are also interested".

Liverpool were last linked with Gaspar in November 2016, and at the time, he told reporters:

"I am not aware of the interest of the foreign clubs; my agent keep me away from all this. I feel good here, but you never know what will happen".

Some info about Gaspar:

* 19-year old right-back, who can also play on the left. Yet to sign a professional contract with Lyon.

* Part of Lyon's Academy since the age of 10. Won the U17 title in 2014.

* Lyon: 3 apps so far (2x league; 1x Champions League)

* Sep 2016: Gaspar's ex-coach Cyrille Dolce observed: "His [Gaspar's] technique, passing and dribbling has always been well above most other young players".

* Sep 2016: U17 coach Armand Garrido enthused: "He's an excellent defender, with a great temperament, who will always do everything to avoid defeat".

* Nov 2016: Gaspar's reaction to first-team action: "I was able to express myself with the pros, and I will not lie to you - once you have tasted it, You want to play all the time".

* Jan 2017: Gaspar's adviser barked: "We are at a standstill because Vincent Ponsot, the financial director, refuses to engage with me. OL is closing the door for us, and this is a situation we have been experiencing for several years".

It looks like Liverpool are captialising on Lyon's prevarication over Gaspar's new contract. A possible understudy for Nathaniel Clyne?
