Liverpool are once again being linked with a move for a striker who is reportedly desperate for a move to Anfield.
According to Italian newspaper Tutto Mercato:
"After missing out on Pulisic and Dembele, Jurgen Klopp is keen to sign Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne, who still hasn't reached a new agreement with the club".
Transfer Timeline:
* Oct 2016: Italian football expert Ciro Venerato claimed: "Insigne's agent has received a call from Jurgen Klopp, who has been following him for some time and is very interested in the player".
* Oct 2016: Further reports in Italy claimed Insigne was trying to 'force a move to Liverpool'.
* Oct 2016: Calciomercato claimed that'Brilliant' Insigne is keen on a move to Anfield.
* Nov 2016: Mediaset Premium reported that Jurgen Klopp wants Insigne as a replacement for Philippe Coutinho, and is willing to offer a salary of €125k-a-week.
After a rough few months earlier in the season (15 games without a goal) Insigne - nicknamed 'Il Magnifico' is now starting regularly for Napoli, and he's contributing a regular basis:
* This season: 18 goals/assists in 35 games (One every 142 mins)
* Last two seasons: 42 goals/assists in in 70 apps (One every 129 mins)
Napoli reportedly want €50m for Insigne, which is ridiculous, but extortionate transfer fee notwithstanding, it's heartening to see Liverpool targeting players in their mid-20s (as opposed to teenagers and zero-experience players).
