'Beautiful!': Rio Ferdinand hails 'magnificent' €55m Liverpool star for superb skill vs. Arsenal

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has hailed one of Liverpool's struggling players for his contribution against Arsenal.

Reacting to Liverpool's impressive 3-1 victory over Arsenal, Rio Ferdinand raved:

"Roberto Firmino's first touch for the goal was beautiful, and it was a great finish from the Brazilian".

It was indeed, and it's a relief to see Firmino back on the scoresheet.

Prior to Liverpools' victory today, Firmino - who also got an assist - had contributed just two goals in 12 games, and hadn't provided an assist for 17 games (!)

There's no point getting carried away, though - Firmino needs to build from this, and contribute on a regular basis from now until the end of the season.

The same applies to Lallana, who has just one goal and one assist in the last 14 games (with nothing for 11 games in a row).

Even if Firmino scores regularly over the next two months, Liverpool still need a new top-class striker for next season, and not a squad player - a first-teamer who can go straight into the first XI and (hopefully) hit the ground running.

This can only benefit Firmino. If Klopp plans to keep him as a centre-forward, then he needs competition, which may spur Firmino on to greater heights (just as Suarez improved Sturridge's performances in the 2013-14 season).
