Next Mane? Boss confirms Liverpool can sign 'excellent' 56-goal attacker for '€40m'

In January, Liverpool were linked with 'excellent' Sassuolo striker Domenico Berardi, and according to the Italian club's general manager, the 22-year old will be allowed to leave this summer...for the right price.

When asked over the weekend about Berardi's future, Giovanni Carnevali told Radio Rai:

“We hope Berardi can become a legend at Sassuolo, but if any club wants to sign him they will have to match his price-tag, which is Forty million. That is a fair price.”

Recent transfer timeline:

* Jan 2016: Italian newspaper Gazetta di Modena claimed that Liverpool sent scouts to watch Berardi in action.

* Oct 2015: The Liverpool Echo reported: "Klopp's number one target...is Domenico Berardi".

Some info about Berardi:

* Versatile 6'1 forward who can play on both wings; as a lone striker, or a second striker.

* Sassuolo: 56 goals/44 assists (1000 in 151 apps (One every 111 mins)

* This season: 13 goals/assists in 17 apps (One every 102 mins). Out injured for 4.5 months with a knee injury (missed 24 games).

* Berardi's agent on the 22-year old's best position: "He's a winger. 4-3-3 best unlocks his power and potential. He has so much technical quality and the ability to play well in any position".

* 2013: Banned from international football for 9 months after failing to report to an U19 training camp.

* Arrigo Sacchi's view: "Berardi is a player of great talent who has liveliness, intuition, temperament and strength combined with good technique."

* Jan 2014: Scored all four goals in a 4-3 victory over AC Milan.

The Reds clearly need wingers, so if this is true, it means that Klopp is zeroing in on one of the club's main transfer priorities. Granted, Liverpool have a poor history with Italian players, but that has to change sometime...right?
