The Agent of one of Philippe Coutinho's Brazilian team-mates has responded to speculation about a possible summer transfer.
Liverpool have been linked with Inter Milan attacker Gabriel Barbosa several times this season, with the last link coming during the January transfer window, when Tutto Mercato claimed:
"Jurgen klopp is still thinking about Inter Milan star Gabriel Barbosa, who he has already spoken with in the last weeks of 2016".
Speaking to TMW this week, Wagner Ribeiro conceded that the Barbosa 'could leave in June', but added:
“The future is in God’s hands, not mine. He’s happy in Milan, and he’ll fight for more space. There are no specific clauses guaranteeing obligatory minutes, let alone a starting spot".
Milan director Piero Ausilio has already confirmed that Inter will listen to offers. In December, he told CalcioMercato:
"If he [Barbosa] wants to leave, we will listen to his request.”
If - as TMW alleges - Klopp personally contacted Barbosa (or his agent), then it's a positive sign as it means Klopp is actively trying to address the club lack of decent cover for Sadio Mane.
Barbosa's agent, claims the Brazilian has 'technical skill of Neymar' and the 'pace of Lucas Moura', but if that's the case, why has he been restricted to just 153 minutes of game time all season?
Barbosa - a right winger like Mane - recently confirmed that he 'talked with Philippe Coutinho' about his transfer to Inter, so perhaps he's discussed a move to Liverpool with him, too?
* Described by Inter Chief Massimo Moratti as a 'fabulous' player. Cost Inter €30m.
