'The Saint' to Anfield? Liverpool keen to sign 'unreal' €30m international to replace 'nervy' LFC star

Will Jurgen Klopp sign a new goalkeeper this summer?

It's clear that Liverpool need an experienced top-class 'keeper to replace Simon Mignolet (that's been the case for the last two years), and according to Corriere Dello Sport this week:

* Liverpool are 'keeping tabs' on Inter Milan goalkeeper Samir Handanovic.

* Jurgen Klopp allegedly 'wants a new goalkeeper' but it will take a 'big offer' to tempt Inter to sell.

Transfer Timeline:

* Feb 2015: The Liverpool Echo claimed "Rodgers is [considering] a summer move for Samir Handanovic after the goalkeeper confirmed he will seek to leave Inter".

Jul 2013: Tutto Mercato reported: "Liverpool have offered £12m, but Inter believe that Liverpool should [offer] €20 million, which could persuade Massimo Moratti to sell"

Is €30m-rated Handanovic - nicknamed 'The Saint' - an improvement on Mignolet? Primary stats for Inter:

* 221 goals conceded in 192 games (One every 78 mins)
* 67 clean sheets (30% of games. One every 257 mins)

Mignolet's LFC stats:

* 193 goals conceded in 166 games (One every 78 mins)
* 53 clean sheets (32% of games. One every 285 mins)

Clean sheets aside, there's little between Mignolet and Handanovic, and the deciding factor may be the unquantifiable qualities such as leadership, communication, command of the box, and distribution.

Former Inter goalkeeper Francesco Toldo is a big fan of Handanovic, and last season, he raved:

“Handanovic is unreal. He’s carrying the team with his great saves. He should be given more acclaim. He really excels and it’s difficult for him, because the defence suffers at times, but he’s always ready.

A viable replacement for 'nervy' Mignolet?
