Left-back is arguably one of the Liverpool's top transfer priorities this summer, and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has reportedly identified a possible target.
According to the Express:
* Liverpool have 'made contact' with Porto full back Ricardo Pereira, and the Reds have 'made it clear' to his reps that they considering a move.
* LFC scouts have watched Pereira on 'several occasions' this season.
* Pereira is valued at around £22m and Porto are 'open to selling him'.
Some info about Pereira, who has featured twice for the Portugal national team.
* 23-year old full-back who can operate on the left and right. Porto contract expires: 2019
* Currently on two-season loan at Nice.
* Nice: 49 apps (8 goals/assists).
* Porto: 34 apps in two seasons.
* Scouting Report: "May lack technical finesse, but makes up for it with physical qualities. 88% pass-completion rate in 2016/17. Completed 68% of take-ons and won 55% of duels". Speed allows him to dominate either flank".
* Ex-Porto coach Rui Vitória's assessment: “He’s got enormous potential, an excellent capacity to learn, strong belief in what he does and he reacts very well to challenges.”
If Pereira is so good, why is he on a two-season loan in Ligue One? Loan deals for that length of time clearly show that the parent club doesn't rate the player. Take Javi Manquillo, for example - he arrived at Liverpool on a two-year loan, and didn't last very long. Plus, he wasn't that good.
