Next Coutinho? Liverpool keen to sign 'fantastic' £27m sensation who played with Firmino

Liverpool are once again being linked with a move for one of the Bundesliga's brightest talents.

In May 2016, Sportbild claimed that Liverpool were tracking Hoffenheim midfielder Nadiem Amiri, and according to new reports today, Liverpool, Juventus, and Spurs remain are all tracking £27m-rated Amiri ahead of the summer transfer window.

Some info about Amiri:

* 20-year old number-10, who can also play left-wing, and central midfield. Contract expires: 2018

* Played alongside Roberto Firmino during the Brazilian's final year at Hoffenheim.

* Hoffenheim: 14 goals/assists in 54 apps (One every 223 mins)

* Germany: 5 goals in 32 apps for various youth teams.

* Oct 2016: Nominated for the Bundesliga's 'top talent' award.

* Dec 2016: On where he wants to improve: "I want to become more effective and play better passes, make better decisions, create more goals and most of all become more clinical in front of goal.”

* Dec 2016: Hoffenheim boss Julian Nagelsmann enthused: "He [Amiri] has taken a big step, and did a fantastic job in a very running-intensive position".

* Dec 2016: Nagelsmann on where Amiri needs to improve: "He needs to find a balance between his emotions, tactical calm and discipline. Sometimes he wants too much".

It's a good job Amiri can play left-wing and central midfield as there's no room for a traditional number-10 in Jurgen Klopp's preferred 433 formation. Amiri's stats (goal/assist ever 223 mins) are pretty average overall, but playing a little deeper as a central midfielder, he averages a goal/assist every 148 minutes, so perhaps that's his most effective position...?
