Anfield Surprise: 69% of LFC fans want Klopp to drop 'incredible' £80k-a-week Brazilian tonight. Unfair?

If Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren misses tonight's Premier League clash with Leicester City, who should replace him at the heart of the Reds' defence?

Lovren has missed an entire week of training as a result of an ongoing knee injury, and according to Reds legend Jan Molby, there is only one choice to replace the Croatian:

"If he [Lovren] doesn’t make it, Lucas’s performance against Spurs puts him in front of Klavan to replace him. When he’s playing centre-back, Lucas's reading of the [is] his strength".

Lucas received deserved praise for his 'fantastic' performance last week against Spurs, but Liverpool' fans don't share Molby's faith in the Brazilian. I conducted a poll last week asking fans who should deputise for Lovren, and the results were as follows:

* 35% of participating voters chose Ragnar Klavan.

* 34% selected Joe Gomez.

* Only 27% went for Lucas (with the remaining voters selecting Emre Can).

I voted for Lucas on the basis of his dominant defensive performance against Spurs, and using the merit system, he arguably deserves to get the nod. That said, Klavan is a dedicated central defender, and it makes sense to use a positional specialist when one is available.

That said, players like Jamie Vardy and Ahmed Musa are blessed with lightning pace, and neither Klavan nor Lucas are particularly fast (!) As such, perhaps Gomez is the best fit for this particular game? Whoever gets the nod, hopefully Liverpool fans are in for a repeat of this performance:
