Next 'Van Basten'? Klopp hails 'fantastic' £20m striker who should sign for 'Liverpool' (according to ex Ajax star)

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has heaped praise on one of the Eredivisie's rising stars.

During a trip to Copenhagen this week, Klopp revealed his admiration for Danish striker Kasper Dolberg, and predicted that the 19-year old is destined for great things. He told Danish newspaper Ekstrabladet:

"Who doesn't know Kasper Dolberg? You can't play at Ajax without being noticed. He's a fantastic player with a great future".

Some info about Dolberg:

* 19-year old centre-forward. Contract expires: 2021.

* Ajax: 13 goals/7 assists in 34 apps (One every 113 mins).

* Scouting Report: "Dolberg is the complete package: deceptively fast, a calm finisher; magical first touch. Known for his stoic personality, and never seems to be fazed by the magnitude of a situation".

* Nov 2016: Dolberg's father raved: "I see many similarities with Marco van Basten. They are the same size, same speed and both have a good shot. Maybe they will soon sit at the same level."

* Dec 2016: Ex-Ajax star Kenneth Perez told reporters: "If I was a big club, I would capture him [Dolberg] at once. An ideal scenario for him would be a club just under the top [level]. Borussia Dortmund or Liverpool".

I don't recall Liverpool being linked with £20m-rated Dolberg in the past, but I can pretty much guarantee that at some point in the next month, some opportunistic journo will create a 'story' about Klopp's alleged interest.

In a recent article, I highlighted the decidedly average creative return of Brazilian teenager Malcom, another striker currently linked with Liverpool. Malcom averages a goal/assist every 223 minutes for Bordeaux, and if the Reds are going to spend money on a teenage striker, it should go on a more prolific player. Dolberg is arguably the superior option.
