Chelsea appear to have moved ahead of Liverpool in the race to sign one of Jurgen Klopp's alleged top targets.
Liverpool have been linked with £30m-rated goalkeeper Man City outcast Joe Hart several times this season, and at the beginning of January, Sky Sports claimed:
"Joe Hart is keen on a return to the Premier League, and has told friends he would jump at the chance to join Liverpool"
Soon after, Italian newspaper TuttoSport reported that Liverpool held talks with Man City about possible summer transfer. Well, it now looks like Chelsea have moved into pole position for Hart's signature. according to Calciomercato today:
"Joe Hart could be on the verge of securing a summer move to Chelsea after being filmed at a Milan hotel meeting Chelsea exes on transfer deadline day".
In my view, this is great news as signing Hart is (arguably) a retrograde step. If he's not good enough for Man City, and he can't keep his nerve on the biggest stage (i.e. Euro 2016, when his mistakes basically led to England's exit), then why is he good enough to take Liverpool to the next level?
Hart has conceded 30 goals in 21 games at Torino, which is an average of one every 64 minutes. As a comparison, Mignolet is conceding a goal every 84 minutes this season, which is a significantly better average.
* Described by Gareth Southgate as 'brilliant'.
