Molby Warns: 'Excellent' €35m Liverpool star should 'not play' vs. Man Utd on Sunday. Agree?

Liverpool legend Jan Molby has urged Jurgen Klopp to be cautious this weekend with one of the the club's key players.

Jordan Henderson has missed Liverpool's last three games with a heel injury, but the Reds captain came through a training session on Thursday, and looks to be in contention for a first-team return at Old Trafford.

According to Molby, though, Klopp should consider giving Hendo more time to fully recover. In his column this week for the Liverpool Echo, Molby explained:

"I would not play Henderson at Old Trafford unless he’s 100% and there's no chance he’ll miss other games. Heel injuries can be nasty, and can return very quickly, so I wouldn’t throw him in too early".

Hendo has completed just one full training session since his injury, so I don't see how he can be fully match-fit, which he'll need to be in a high intensity game against Man Utd.

Unfortunately, Klopp may not have much choice but to rush Hendo back. Liverpool are short of experienced central midfield options (Lallana and Wijnaldum are converted CMs), and if it's a choice between Emre Can, and a 75% fit Hendo, then starting the skipper is possibly a risk worth taking.

In my view, Liverpool should always err on the side of caution when it comes to injuries, but given the importance of Sunday's game - and the fact the Reds haven't won in three games - Klopp may take a different view.

* €35m-rated (CIES Football Observatory). Described by Steven Gerrard as 'excellent'.
