Klopp Confirms: 'Brilliant' £50m Liverpool star has a 'real injury problem'; may miss Wolves game

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that the Reds may be without another key player for tomorrow's FA Cup clash with Wolves.

When asked today about new injuries, Klopp told reporters:

“A real injury problem? Adam Lallana - he got a cut. I’m not sure we should now try [to play him] if the stitches are really good enough or whatever".

Lallana played well in the first few months of the season, but and with just one goal in the last nine games - a period that has coincided with Liverpool's downward spiral - he is badly off-form right now.

Lallana's barren spell is entirely predictable - he's simply reverting to the form he showed during his first two years at Anfield, and as usual, when the team needs him to step up, he disappears. It's all well and good scoring contributing when the team is playing well, but senior players like Lallana, Hendo, Coutinho et al need to show up when the team is struggling, and that isn't happening right now.

This is what happens, though, when you rely on inconsistent players. Instead of signing one or two more attacking mids/wingers in the summer/current window, Klopp decided he'd rely on players like Lallana to deliver the goods, and that is currently backfiring. That said, Lallana has shown this season that he can be a valuable player for the team, so with any luck, he'll recover his form over the next month.

* Lallana: PSG reportedly made a £50m bid. Hailed last week as 'brilliant' by Alan Shearer.
