One of Liverpool's regular transfer targets has finally revealed his thoughts on the possibility of a transfer to Anfield.
Liverpool have been constantly linked with Dortmund striker Pierre Emerick Aubemeyang over the last year, and earlier this week, BVB Director Michael Zorc admitted:
"Everyone has his price, and if an offer comes in [for Aubameyang], we will sit down and discuss it".
Dortmund may be willing to listen to offers, but even if Liverpool bid, Aubameyang doesn't appear to be interested in a move to Liverpool.
When specifically asked on Friday about whether a summer transfer to Liverpool is possible, Aubameyang told reporters:
"Nobody can foresee the future. It's possible that a club could reach an agreement with Dortmund in June and I'll go [but] I do not think that [a move to Liverpool] will happen".
In the recent past, Aubameyang has hailed Liverpool as a 'special' club, so why is he seemingly not interested in joining the Reds? There are several possibilities:
* Running himself into the ground under Klopp (again) doesn't appeal.
* After seeing the struggles of fellow Dortmund alumni Henrik MkHitaryan and Shinji Kagawa, he isn't interested in playing in the Premier League.
* He has bigger ambitions for himself, like playing for Madrid or Barca.
* When it comes to paying top salaries, Liverpool just can't (or won't) compete with Europe's biggest clubs, and Aubameyang may have his sights set on a prohibitive payday.
Or, perhaps Liverpool just aren't interested, but quite why that might be the case is anyone's guess. Whatever the reason, it's probably safe to draw a line through this particular transfer rumour.
* Aubameyang: Hailed by Jurgen Klopp as an incredible player. £60m-rated (CIES)
