Will Liverpool sign any new players during the January transfer window?
Klopp is notoriously averse to spending big money in January, but according to new reports today, if he wants a big money signing, FSG will make the funds available.
According to German newspaper Sportbild, Klopp has been given a budget of €47m [£40m] to spend in the January transfer window, which is arguably more than enough to sign one or two top quality players.
When asked last week if he is planning to sign any new players this month, Klopp - clearly weary of the constant questioning on the subject - told reporters:
“We always have an eye on the market. If there is something that makes sense and is possible [we will act] but there is not only China which could [prevent] a transfer, there’s other clubs. We want players who are ready to develop. If somebody wants to be part of this team they’re very welcome".
In my view, it's a mistake to gamble in the current squad over the next five months. Klopp's loyalty to his players is admirable, but if he chooses to put his faith in injury prone players, and square pegs in round holes, then it'll be his (and Liverpool's) funeral.
The question, who should Klopp target during the window, and what are the priority positions to fill?
